View Full Version : Should CN bring back KidsHelpOut.org for Hurricane Katrina?

As many of you have heard, Hurricane Katrina slammed a large part of the Southern US. At first, I was one of the people that thought the damage could have been worse. However, when the levee system gave away in New Orleans, a large part of the city became a body of water. After seeing these images, I wonder how the city is going to get back on its feet, of if there'll be a New Orleans to go back to. Not only NO has been slammed, but places like Biloxi and Gulfport, MS, and Mobile, AL. There may be thousands of people dead. My thoughts and prayers go out to victims and families of this devastating event.

You people remember KidsHelpOut.org for the tsunami victims ("Give a Little Bit" was the anthem)? I realize most people here aren't 'kids', but I was wondering if you think CN should bring back KidsHelpOut.org for kids to donate to the victims. IMO, why not? I believe it's a great idea. Hopefully, a lot of donations will be made (whether it's for KHO, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, etc.).

You know what, they should. It'll be a benefit to aid programs such as the Red Cross, and it'll help in recoveries. The more people to help out, the better.

Was the original program successful? If not, then they probably should think twice about it. Even then, they could use the same promos and system to get everything going, but I doubt it would just come up in days... after all, the original KidsHelpOut.org was set up in 2005, if I recall correctly.

$5 million was generated for the tsunami victims, according to the site (which is still up). I don't think it would hurt to bring it back for this cause.

I don't see why not. After all, the mayor of New Orleans called Hurricane Katrina "our Tsunami."

After seeing all those pictures of the city almost under water, I think he just might be right.

I'm in favor of anything which might send aid to those poor people. I was living in Fort Lauderdale when Hurricane Andrew came through, so I can sympathize with anyone who got off a lot worse (I just had to mop up the floor & do without power for a while.)

Sounds like an excellent idea. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet, now that you've mentioned it.

...

Maybe it's because America doesn't care enough about itself. George Bush isn't using his power to the fullest extent, and those rescue crews don't have enough aid/protection for themselves, let alone endless crowds of those less fortunate... but I digress.

this would be one of the better ideas they could ever have considering those lost in the storm.. to help out so much hurt by its wrath. i'd go for it if i were you.

They should, but they wont. Cartoon Network likes being in its own little world.

I was about to say it looks like they just did, but it looks like everybody's beaten me to the punch line (as usual).

Anyway, here's the URL:

I wonder if the CN executives look once in a while at our boards and take the ideas to improve on some stuff.

They probably do. Thank you CN!

i think they already didRight... just keep giving us those out of date responses, and you'll do very well.

I wonder if the CN executives look once in a while at our boards and take the ideas to improve on some stuff.

They probably do. Thank you CN!No, they probably don't. The Cartoon Network executives are much too busy (doing what, I'll probably never know) to visit a message board to take in comments about programming and blocks that they'll likely never take advantage of.

And, what are the odds that nobody else at Cartoon Network had the idea themselves? After all, the creator(s) of Kids Help Out, or someone else could have proposed to Cartoon Network him/herself or themselves.

It was only a matter of time before they brought it back. This is basically CN's charity concert after all. I feel it was only a matter of time after the 5 main networks announced a charity concert that all 5 would air simaltaneously this Friday, and so it has happened. It also allows kids to learn about Hurricane's and help the country become more educated, so it's a great idea in the long run. I just wonder how long it will remain up this time.
