Welcome to the second week of the Namek Saga of Dragonball Z Uncut! These unedited versions of the series are now being shown weekdays. This show is TV-PG unlike the cut version which was TV-Y7. Even though many of you have seen DBZ many times, this threads is meant to give everyone a fresh look at the series as it was intended to be shown. Tuesday through Thursday have been put under spoiler tags due to them spoiling the outcome of the previous episode.
Monday: Held Captive
At first, Bulma, Krillin, and Gohan's captors believe that our heroes are associates of Frieza, the evil being that destroyed their home planet. But the trio manages to convince their aptors that they mean no harm. Free to go, the Earthlings continue on to the planet Namek just as Vegeta finds sanctuary at one of Frieza's military bases.
Tuesday: Look Out Below
After crash landing Kami's spaceship on Namek, Bulma, Krillin and Gohan are accompanied by Raiti and Zaacro, two Namekians, who help the Earthlings in their search for the Dragon Balls on the planet. They gather two, but can Gohan obtain the third at the bottom of a toxic swamp?
Wednesday: The Search Continues
Goku escapes from the hospital in the middle of the night to continue training even though he has not fully recovered. Vegeta continues his treatment at Frieza's base while Bulma, Krillin and Gohan still search for the remaining Namekian Dragon Balls with help from Zaacro, but can they found all of them before Vegeta makes a full recovery?
Thursday: A Friendly Suprise
Bulma, Krillin and Gohan are about to retrieve one of the last Dragon Balls when their Namekian "friends" reveal their true identities: they are devious aliens, tricking our heroes into thinking that they were actually on Namek so that they could steal their ship and excape from the planet. Menwhile, Vegeta learns that Frieza is already on his way to the real Namek to retrieve the Dragon Balls.?
Those are the exciting jam packed episodes this week for Dragonball Z!

i behind on watching these, i taped all the ones last week but still havent gone back to watch them. Maybe tonight's will be the last one i have to do that on ... which reminds me, i need to put the tape in the VCR
Those are the exciting jam packed episodes Oh, you kid.
After today's episode, I doubt I'll be paying much attention to the next three. Even in terms of uncut footage, this is a dull week.

It's still worth watching at the very least to see what few things were originally cut or censored, and to see how the new actors handle the new or reused lines.
I'm curious to see if Bulma still sings while on fake Namek.

LOL Love the scene between Kuririn and Bulma.
But what's up with the travelers giving Bulma a "shortcut" through a different sector to get to Namek? How the **** can you have a shortcut in space? If you know the exact location of the planet, as Bulma does, it's a straight line through space, with an occassional left and right "nudge" to dodge any planets or stars that come your way.
William C. Maune

I think those left or right nudges can be a lot bigger than a nudge depending on the gravitational pulls of whatever you are avoiding. By going around areas instead of taking a straight line path you can avoid dealing with various gravitational pulls that can greatly slow down a trip. Similarly, if a ship is steered just right, the gravitational pull can be used to a ships advantage to basically slingshot it on to its next destination. Most of the satellites and probes we have sent to the outer planets of the solar system use this technique.

That's true in real life, but I somehow don't think the writers were trying to work such heavy scientifical logic into a show like Dragon Ball Z, which has defied or ignored all such logic up till now.

Dragon Ball Z is a fountain of scientific information. I never knew that 5 minutes could be physically extended into 5 hours, or that an entire house could be condensed into a small capsule.

WHOA! Did Krillin say what I think he did?
I don't know why no one noticed this before, but I think he said:
"How can she sleep through all this sh*t?" in reference to Bulma remaining asleep while passing through the nebula.
I guess no one's watching these episodes, since they're filler.

Besides, I doubt funimation would use that word in DBZ.
On a good note, I can honestly say that this is definitely going to be the worst week in uncut DBZ history. After the week is over, the show becomes great as it progresses.

Wow. The Japanese just can't do good episode titles.
Here's something that always confused me about this filler:
How the hell did the aliens project the image of Namek before they met Bulma, Krillin, and Gohan? They had no idea Namek existed, so the planet should have looked its normal form until they woke up to find the disguised aliens.

Vegeta's inner-monologue didn't fit with his dream sequence. He keeps asking himself why "Kakarot" is stronger than him, yet they're showing clips of GOHAN (in Oozaru form) beating him into a pulp.

Yeah I thought that was weird aswell, but what I also find weird is that
wouldn't Bulma, Gohan and Krillen notice that there are no other supposed "Nameks" besides those 2 after King Kai said there were still about 100 Nameks left.

I always figured that the aliens were simply projecting an image of a hospitable looking planet, in order to draw some unsuspecting travelers down. It does look a little bit like Namek, but chalk that up to the animators not using their imaginations, and trying simply to make the viewers think that this is really Namek.

I think once Bulma learned all of the necessary commands in Namekian, she reprogrammed the controls to accept English commands.

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this. When the Namekian that volunteers to accompany Bulma and the others to find the Dragon Balls suggests that they use his air ship, he calls it the "Wukong", to which Bulma responds "Wukong??".
Wukong is the Chinese pronunciation of Goku. I'm not sure if this was in the Japanese version or not. But if this was a dub addition then...wow.

Because his proper name is written in kanji ( 孫悟空 - though you may see it in katakana as ゴクウ in some of the older DBZ videogames because low pixel counts simply don't allow one to make complicated kanji characters), a Chinese fan would verbally call Son Goku "Son Wukong" while writing his name exactly the same as a Japanese fan. If you've ever watched the Chinese dub, you'll see that Goku is always "Wukong."
Interestingly, Goku is currently staying at the "Wukong Hospital" on Earth, and it is written in plain Romaji. You see it a couple of times when he's staying there. What an interesting cross between three languages...

Correct, Gohan doesn't learn the Kamehameha until He and Goku go in the Room of Spirit and Time during the Cell Saga.
Was the attack Gohan used in the water really called "Flashing Attack"? I remember he said "Kamehameha!!" in the old dub.He used his Masenko attack that he learned from Piccolo. For some reason, the Saban dub hated the Masenko and always called it a Kame Hame Ha (despite not looking anything like the Kame Hame Ha).
I think once Bulma learned all of the necessary commands in Namekian, she reprogrammed the controls to accept English commands.Y'know, that's what I liked about the original dub. They kept the ship needing Namekian words to work instead of Bulma reprogramming the ship. True, the only other time Namekian is said is when Porunga is summoned, but still...

Actually, he's talking about the original American Dragonball (Not Dragonball Z) Opening. Back in 1995 Saban dubbed the first 13 episodes of Dragonball for Fox Kids. They used a theme song that you can find at Toonami Arsenal that most people found fairly horrendous. The low ratings of Dragonball sloped it off of Fox Kids and eventually it was picked up again in the form of Dragonball Z. During that episode of the orginal dub run (with ocean voices/Saban edits) Bulma at one point starting singing part of that old Saban made Dragonball song.
BTW Rock the Dragon is used in the "Coming Up Next" where Nikki (CN Announcer Girl) tell us the next show and a clip is shown from it.

not as good an episode as the first fake hunt episode but still not terrible since there was more wrapping around it with Goku & Vegetas recoverys. I didn't like how Krillen and Gohan went for the killing blows against that giant :( they stole from him in his sleep so of course he would be grumpy and the whole jumping and plane flying parts were dumb since two of them can fly on their own and could easily care the other two

Horrendous? I loved the old Saban theme. Why, I liked it even better than the original Japanese version. It was so catchy. "Danger all around you. Villains everywhere. Got to look around you, and keep searching, but beware! Goku, he's gonna show you! He's gonna help you save the day! Goku, he's gonna show you! He and his friends are gonna save the say!"
Anyway, I have two questions, first of all, why don't Raiti and Zackro just ASK Krillen, Gohan, and Bulma if they can hitch a ride off of the planet? I mean, it seems like it would be much easier than creating this whole plot to steal their spaceship.
Second, why doesn't Vegeta wear a crotch plate anymore? I mean, I always though Vegeta looked coolest in the saiyan saga with his scouter and full aromor. I don't know why he doesn't think he needs a crotch plate anymore, I mean, what would he do if Dodoria tried to kick him there?
