My blockbuster has 3 types of games:
1. Big name titles for a system, including sports. i.e. games that are advertised on TV. "Blockbuster" games. IN other words, games you would most certainly want to buy rather than rent.
2. Movie tie in games. I don`t think they`ve missed ONE.
3. UBER-obscure/bad games no one cares about.
BONUS: Virutally no new games over the past year other than the aforementioned 3 types.
Blockbuster used to be so good too, before they stopped caring.
That gamefly commercial where the guy only finds 6 stupid games at the rental store is all too real.
anyone have a good rrental store around them?

Nope,I can never find Flatout at any Blockbuster, they only have one case which is dumb because alot of the new "popular" games get like five cases and Flatout's popular so why do they not have any more selections of it for the Xbox? Maybe I would do what Adam and Morgan repetitvily say on X-play if Gamefly would actualy just let me rent one game for $5.00.

My bluckbuster is particularly rediculous, X-Box and and PS2 have like two aisles and Gamecube only has one side, and half an aisle, not even a whole one, and even the games for X-Box and PS2 games they supply are mostly weak, they were better but like said above they kinda stopped caring.

The last time I really remember rental places caring about games was the SNES/Genesis days. Since the PS1/N64 came out, the used game industry has been huge. Used copies of old games go for $10, if not less. Why would anyone want to pay six bucks to rent when they can keep it for four more.

Ha, my Blockbuster can top that. It has four rows for games with one for the X Box, two and a half for PS2, and the other half is for Playstation and N64 games. That's right it has absolutely no games for the Gamecube whatsoever.

Wow, you'd think they would have cleaned out the N64 section for Gamecube games about four years ago.

Wow, you'd think they would have cleaned out the N64 section for Gamecube games about four years ago. It's a really really small selection but the fact that they're still there is just plain sad.
The other major video store, Hollywood Video, does have gamecube games but it's insignificantly small compared the the amount of PS2 games.

I stopped renting games altogether when I realised that if you wait a few months you can pick up that exact game for the rental price.

When even the Blockbuster employees-- who get up to five free rentals a week, including game rentals-- have Gamefly memberships, that's just sad. I really don't understand how Blockbuster moves Gamepass memberships-- you'd blow through all their good titles in a month.
What makes it even worse is this whole "end of late fees" deal where if you keep something more than two weeks, your account is charged for the purchase price and you buy the game. It's noticeable in the film section as well-- all the good older stuff gets picked clean because people can get it cheaper by renting it and letting it auto-sell than by buying it outright, and even if Blockbuster was a good company that actually wanted to replace enough of them to keep a good selection in stock (which they're not), it wouldn't be cost-effective for them to do so.
Add to THAT how much more fragile disc-based games are than the old cartridge ones and how much shrink there is due to stupid kids scratching up the discs, and it's amazing that ANY retail game rental stores stay in business.
On the bright side, Blockbuster does have cheap used games. Plus my local one is the only place in town that still has some Street Fighter Anneversary controllers in stock.
But then again, I never even bothered to get a membership, so...
