I think this is why I pretty much remove myslef from participating in any longstanding sites devoted to one franchise whatsoever...

If the console wars weren't enough for you, then I guess you should try the Developer Wars. Quite frankly I find this incredibly stupid, big name game vs other big name game. Not to mention usualy both of the games are on the same systems. I mean for example one of the classic examples are NIS vs Sqaure-enix and the even more futile argument of Square vs Enix...I mean seriously consoles are bit more more pricey so I could understand if you just had to choose one and hoped you picked the winner, but games is just stupid. I mean pretty much all the big name games eventually get reduced to 20 bucks(unless ofcourse they are limited production or whatever and you have to pay the full price of 30-50). I mean really play/buy both or whatever, the memory cards hold incredibly high ammounts of data...

Or maybe this is jsut the case of people wanting to be the first to yell IT's GONE/GOING DOWNHILL....then again I have a ton of the old era games and I still don't see anything major going down hill, usualy somthign else picks it up again...

I've read this three times now, and I still don't quite understand what you're saying. I get as far as, "big name game vs big name game" and from there, I can't follow you.

Could you possibly reword this? I want to know what your point is.

People choose sides over games now that are usualy on the same system itself

Like for example people will argue to hell on Doom 3 against Halo 2

that's basicly it in a nutshell

The gist of it is: Getting into wars between various GAMES is stupid.

But there are games which are better than others. The absurd fanboy wars are a waste of time and energy, but there's nothing wrong with discussing how one rates in comparison to another.

I have no problem with thoe types of arguments.

It is when people compare games of the same series that were on different pieces of hardware that Hell comes to town. Square vs. Enix is nothing compared to the raging flames which is old (insert company/series here) vs. new (insert company/series here). those kind of debates are even more pointless and stupid,as they do nothing but divide fandoms even further amongst themselves.

I thought Squaresoft and Enix were friendly competitors that respected each other's business before their merger.

As long as the two games are similar it's fine, but when things like killer 7 vs geist comes up, it does not make much sense.
