View Full Version : Got a Letter from CN today...

....Well, a postcard, anyway (nice PPG picture). About a week or two ago I wrote to CN about where to put in a request for specific programs to be put on CN's "On Demand" channel. Sure, it's nice to see PPG and Dexy and Puffy and Krypto and Junie whenever you feel like watching them; but what about the shows that DON'T get on CN too often?

Anyway, here's how they responded:

Dear Peppe (not my real name),

Please submit your request to the Programming Department and we will review it.

Thank you,
Cartoon Network

So all you have to do, for those of you who have CN on Demand, is write to CN's Programming Department, and tell them which shows you would like to see on the CNoD channel.

I'm sending out my request as soon as I can. Don't know if they'll really honor it, but it never hurts to ask.

Any requests?

Can you ask them if they can air Mortal Kombat: The Animated Series, Street Fighter: The Animated Series and Tales from the CryptKeeper?

Nice idea (even though I've never seen any of those shows), but I'm thinking of CN cartoons that they don't show enough of, or put in lousy early-morning (say 3 or 4 a.m.), like Jack or Megas XLR or Cow and Chicken, or Courage.

But like I said, it never hurts to ask...

You know they can't do that...

But they can have Sheep in the Big City, Cow and Chicken and possibly Yu Yu Hakusho.

The only show I REALLY miss being on is Courage. Well, that and the New Adventures of Johnny Quest (but I haven't seen that show in YEARS, and it's likely they lost rights to the show. It be good reminicing if I saw it again. :) )

Any requests?I have a request. I want to see the Cartoon Network on Demand channel on Cablevision.

Though, if I mail a letter, maybe I'll get a PPG postcard. I'll just mail a DVD request, seeing as how it'd be to no avail if I complained about what I'd rather watch on a channel I don't have.

I don't have a "Cartoon Network OnDemand", but I do have a "Kids OnDemand", which features Cartoon Network shows, Boomerang shows, and some kids shows from England.

They do have Jack on occasion. When I first looked at their listing they had Jack. No Megas yet.

Sorry Sailor V. Toei pulled the rights to Sailor Moon in the US so it can't air anywhere much less redubbed.

How could CN "lose the rights" to a show that was produced by Hanna-Barbera after it became part of the Turner/Time Warner organization?

OK, I know ... stranger things have happened in our lifetimes.

You know they can't do that...Pshh. If AS OnDemand can pick up various shows licenses...I don't see why it's not within the relm of possiblity where CN OnDeman would do it.

Well, i figued they lost the rights to it, since it hasn't been shown on CN since 1999. They actually had a promo that mntioned it's departure, the exact date and everything (I saw this on the Toonami Dig Arsenal). Though, I didn't think about the fact that it WAS a Hanna Barbera show.

For some reason they listened to you guys.

Cow and Chicken, Time Squad, Courage, Johnny Bravo, and even Dragonball and Z, just popped up on my OnDemand.

DBZ? Hmm... I wonder if it's uncut.

EDIT: No it's Frieza saga FUNi dub but the episode I'm watching has "Rock the Dragon" attached to it. Ugh.. season 3's dub still sucks. I mean holy crap it's awful. It sounds so phoned in, heck I think it sounds like those fan made flash videos now...

Bigger news. You can also watch DRAGONBALL. Yes indeed from the begining as well.

They split CN up into action and comedy (they also did that with AS recently).

AS on-demand's licenses are all Bandai and those are easy for CN to get.

Mainframe isn't as easy I imagine.

And, they should really consider making a website for the on Demand channel, considering that... well, so few people have it. Then again, with Nick on Demand, Cablevision might consider Cartoon Network on Demand. Who knows what the future holds?

If I were you, though, I'd be slobbering all over my armchair. I haven't seen Cow and Chicken in years.

Out my way, CNoD is available through TWC, as part of its Kids on Demand Channel. Currently, our CNoD features the "populars" (PPG, Dexter's Lab, E3) and the "new kids" (Lazlo, Junie, Krypto, and the Puffys.) I guess whatever is shown on CNoD varies from area to area.

Anyway, I've got Jack and Duck Dodgers on my CN on Demand "Wish List." And I'm going to ask for some B:TAS for Boomerang on Demand. (I liked the "Laughing Fish" episode they showed Saturday night. I'd say more, but that's another post--and another forum.)

All of season 3 uses Rock the Dragon. FUNi didn't create their own opening until the Garlic Jr. episodes.

how come Direct TV doesnt have Cartoon Network on Demand?

CookieS
08-26-2005, 12:00 AM
OnDemand is a service only offered by Comcast Cable. Basically, if you don't have Comcast, you will be unable to see InDemand. Direct TV doesn't offer this for many reasons, including:

1. Its probably more complicated with satellite.
2. The InDemand technology might be exclusively licensed to Comcast.
3. Other cable and satellite providers don't want or cannot afford the service.

Anyway, glad to see some of CN's best shows are on InDemand now. :)
