You know I heard about this and I was ashamed of the American press. I only heard the news at 2:00 AM in the morning. Meanwhile stories about vapad celebrities and missing persons and would be terrorists (though important) completly pushed this important story aside. I mean 700 lives gone just like that!!! It's an example of the press overlooking/ignoring people in non western countries.

Anyway, I hope the best for the people who have been hurt by this horrible disaster. And for the famlies of those taken.

I'm very sorry to hear that :(

And I just can't believe I didn't see this story in the news this morning! They even spent five minutes talking about a crude campaign going on in China to promote pedestrian safety by showing a scene of a bus running over a couple who wasn't using the "zebra lines" to cross an avenue. What's going on with the press?!

P.S. After two years in TZ, I finally reached 100 posts :P

That's tragedic. It's time to send another check to the Red Cross. :(

This is the latest from the AP on the disaaster in India: Death Toll in Bombay Floods Climbs to 853 (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050730/ap_on_re_as/india_monsoon;_ylt=AhEj3ib3iOnh6IOg8fizoFNw24cA;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl) Sat Jul 30, 6:40 AM ET You can read the story if you want, they expect the final total to be over l000..It is not being reported on the radio, or even highlighted in the Yahoo News..It ranks 9 or l0 on the list of International News events.....
....I do not know what is being shown on TV. I.R. Joiey is right about the media overlooking/ignoring people in non western countries.
....My prayers go out to the injured and survivors..May they all heal somehow.
....My condolences to families that have lost a loved one...I am deeply saddened:crying:

Yeah, this sucks. So many people dying. And it's even more than 853 because some people are lost but not confirmed dead. Luckily, none of my relatives in Bombay were injured.
