Has anyone heard about a show known as Rock Star:INXS? In it,the band members of INXS are getting a new lead singer but it's this whole competetion show where the contestants sing cover songs. I just saw it tonight. In it,this one girl did a cover of "New Sensation",a guy did a cover of "Need You Tonight" and another girl did a cover of "Never Tear Us Apart". My favorite cover was the girl's cover of New Sensation. Well anyway, here's more info on it:

On what channel does it air?

Reality shows suck, and finding a new singer to a not very talented band this way seems to make it even worse.

Well, anyway. I just watched it again. So far Dana,Wil,Neal,Heather and Daphna have been eliminated. Heather and Daphna got double elimination last week. It kinda surprised me.

I was unfortunate to be dragged into watching this monstrosity a few weeks back. I don't know if the performers were just bad, or if they chose songs that they shouldn't have been singing in the first place, but I think the show blows. I would've thought that the brothers Farris would have come up with a better way to produce a replacement for Mike Hutchence. I guess reality TV sucks in even more attention desperate has-beens.

Look at it this way,at least it isn't that junky American Idol pop stuff. This topic was made to be praised, not bashed. From the vibes i'm getting in this topic,I feel like i'm about the only one on this entire message board who is enjoying the show. (Sarcastic) Thanks a lot, everyone.

I'm really enjoying this show! Last weeks performances were probally the weakest yet, but there were still some great performances! I'm thinking Jordice or Ty are the most likely to win it, but as we've seen the last few weeks anything can change at any moment.

But he seems to be struggling with the next song he's about to perform,"Everlong" by Foo Fighters. Jordis is okay in my opinion. Tara always chooses REALLY COOL songs (I love "Middle Of The Road" "Paranoid" and "Suffragette City") but i'm not sure about her winning. I have a feeling either Jessica or JD are going to go down next. I hear Marty is pretty good and Suzie is starting to kick out the jams. Overall, this week is gonna get interesting.
BTW,My mom and I have a feeling that Marty is going to win!

I don't watch the show, but I might as well post this bit of info I read today on tvguide.com in case anyone cares:

ON THE MOVE: CBS is shifting the Monday-night edition of its struggling Rock Star: INXS to sister network VH1, effective immediately. The Monday installment — which basically features the contestants preparing for that week's performance — will now air Sundays at 8 pm on the cabler. The Tuesday performance edition and the Wednesday results show will continue to air on the Eye net.

By the way, shouldn't the title of this thread be changed. I see "Has anyone heard" and I don't think of Rock Star:INXS at all.

Okay. So today is elimination day. I'm going to talk about my thoughts on last night's performances:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Jordis:Her version of "Knocking On Heaven's Door" probably put shame upon Dana if she was watching it on TV. Very awesome performance. She got my vote.

Jessica:All of her performances are mediocre. I'm surprised she's still in the competition.

Ty:Did a really great version of Rod Stewart's "Maggie May". He certainly got my vote as well.

Suzie:She did okay on the Sam Cooke song. She wasn't awesome or terrible. Just okay.

Marty:Very amusing performance. He had to sing Britney Spears and he did it without laughing. I'm still shocked about the song INXS gave him. He did get my vote, though.

Deanna:She was okay. I think she would make a nice modern Janis Joplin with that bluesy voice of hers.

JD:Okay...........this dude REALLY needs to go. I'm serious about this, being an Anti-JD person. I think he really butched "As Tears Go By" by Rolling Stones.

MiG:All I have to say is...........I think he's the one deserving of an encore! He played the piano all by himself and sang Peter Frampton's "Baby I Love Your Way".

I've only seen 4 episodes of this show. All the contestants are great vocalists. However, the whole point of rock music is finding your own style and rocking with it. I feel that all the contestants are trying to force themselves into another style because they're doing all these cover songs in the other artists style. I feel like I'm watching Broadway (nothing wrong w/ that, I like theater, but I'm here for a rock concert), and on one episode, I felt like I was watching Star Search.

Also, maybe it's just me, but I think it's disrespectful to the lead singer when they replace him, but still call the band INXS. They can always form a new band, but it won't be INXS because the lead singer is gone, and the new person is going to add a new dynamic.

You know, I've never heard of the band until this show.
