By Family Guy standards...that was rather bad.
I mean, the whole episode just seemed like one long "LOLOLOL, Ok...lets throw character x back into mix because fans responded to him". Chicken fight 2 was unnessisary and what little fun was in it, died when the joke ran on far too long (and basically...in the EXACT same way it did the first time it showed up).
Also, the plot was like that of new Simpson episodes. Start on one subject, jumpt to another quickly, then abandon the initial subject entirely to focus on something else. Granted they did manage to tie everything together in this episode...but it had that feel to it. (Bowling! Oh no, Quagmire gets caught! LOL Quagmire is getting rehabilitated! What? Peter is trying to get noticed?)
The only thing that kept me from hating this episode was the Star Wars ending. I was nearly crying I was laughing so hard at that.

The only thing that kept me from hating this episode was the Star Wars ending. I was nearly crying I was laughing so hard at that.THIS is the episode where it starts to dip for awhile. If I remember correctly, the next one is the one where Megs gets famous. The overall structure/flow/whatever of that episode's plot is better than this one, although it also needed some work. Than there's an episode I missed, and the one from Fox last Sun. is back up to average quality, and is the FIRST new episode that feels like old FG to me (NOT that some of the new ones aren't funny, the writers are just trying to get back in the groove)
This one really is bad, BUT to be fair alot of people are probably getting thier hopes up too high. Alot of the new episodes are average compared to earlier seasons. NOT every episode is going to be the same quality as "The Road To..." parodies, "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein", the episode where they move to the south, or have moments like "This House Is Fricken' Sweet!" in every episode. We got to be realistic here.

which is true.....Its not that I found the episode unfunny, it just didn't much feel like family guy.
...But yes, that made me smile.

The chicken fight was grossly unnecessary. It's as if in the writing session they realized "this episode isn't long enough, let's randomly bring the chicken in to extend it a bit".
The Star Wars ending amused me. Good contrast to last week's Law and Order opening. They could run with that for a while. Just parodize a movie/tv show for the ending/opening. Could work. Maybe.

Yeah, the chicken was disappointing and forced.
And I absolutely loved that gag the first time around. =(

And then, if we all remembered correctly:
(a) Family Guy helped pusedo-promote Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith, which opened four days later with the ending for that episode;
(b) Took two weeks off on FOX for the world broadcast premiere airing of Star Wars Episode II: The Clone Wars and NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600; and
(c) Returned with a vengance for "Don't Make Me Over".
'Nuff said.
Oh, and I still loved "El Pollo vs. El Peter II".

This episode is okay by FG standards. Moved a little slow at times though.

The show took off a few weeks last month, you think they'll take off for a few weeks on encores of the new episodes? That would probably make some sense.

It was better the second time around. Seemed more like a below-average season 2 or 3 episode.

I see what you mean about the Chicken gag. I mean, the first chicken appearance was funny because of the set up. The chicken gave him a bad coupon. Here, it was just random. I mean, I guess that's what they were going for, the chicken just showing up out of no where and starting a fight, and then Peter going back to right where he was before the fight with everyone still standing around in the exact same spot, but it just didn't work...the whole fight I was thinking how much funnier the scene would be if there was a decent set up.

"WILL YOU JUST SIT DOWN AND GO TO THE BATHROOM ALREADY?!?!?"
Quagmire had been asking for that mugshot for a long time.
Somehow, I don't think this episode had a solid story to tell, other than the thing about Peter not fulfilling himself. It would've been great if it stayed on Quagmire overcoming his pervert problem.
As for the chicken, it was every bit as funny as the first fight, but it would've been better if there was a motive for Round 2. But it looks like we're in for a Round 3 sometime in the future.
