Were there any Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies episodes in which either :bugs1: "loses" in the end, or Elmer Fudd "wins" in the end?

Yeah, there was that one where Fudd goes crazy and thinks he's a rabbit, and Bugs gets hypnotised into thinking he's a hunter. Fudd more-or-less won there.

Bugs has lost before. I believe he had lost in the Cecil Turtle cartoons, if I'm not mistaken. What about "Rabbit Rampage"? Didn't Elmer win over Bugs there?

Also, "What's Opera, Doc?" (in which, "Wagner-ically" speaking, Elmer did kill the wabbit), and "The Old Grey Hare" (IIRC, that one ended in sort of a draw).

Bugs lost in the Tortoise vs. Hare cartoons and once when he cut the film you see him later being dragged away by I think Yosemite Sam, and Elmer once won against Daffy when Daffy bothered him the entire episode, but then the duck season opened and Daffy was running From Elmer and he cut the film.

Bugs certainly did not lose in "The Old Grey Hare" - he buries Elmer alive and plants a bomb in his grave, for cryin' out loud.

Allow me to straighten out your facts. The Yosemite Sam cartoon you're thinking of is "Hare Trigger" (MM, Freleng, 1945), where at the end it looks as if Sam is about to defeat Bugs. An epic narrator reads off a series of "To be continued"-esque cliffhanger sentences that cover the screen, along the lines of "Will our hero escape?", and Bugs drags a roped-up Sam away, asiding to the audience "He don't know me very well, do he?" And the Daffy Duck cartoon you're thinking of is "My Favorite Duck" (LT, Jones, 1942) - it's actually Porky who's playing the role of hunter in this one. Indeed, the film splits towards the end of the cartoon, and Daffy walks onscreen to tell the audience what happened, until Porky knocks him out with his gun and drags him away.

I once noted that all six major animation directors at Warner Bros. had at least one cartoon where Bugs Bunny did not emerge victorious in the end:
- Chuck Jones had "Rabbit Rampage" (LT, 1955)
- Friz Freleng had "Rabbit Transit" (LT, 1947), "Hare Brush" (MM, 1955) and "Hyde and Hare" (LT, 1955)
- Robert McKimson had "Rebel Rabbit" (MM, 1949)
- Bob Clampett had "Tortoise Wins By a Hare" (MM, 1943) and "Falling Hare" (MM, 1943)
- Tex Avery had "Tortoise Beats Hare" (MM, 1941)
- Frank Tashlin had "Porky Pig's Feat" (LT, 1943), although Bugs only appears in a cameo appearance at the end, locked in a ball and chain at the Broken Arms Hotel

I could have sworn that was Bugs drawing Daffy.

I could have sworn that was Bugs drawing Daffy. There was. One of Bugs messing with Daffy and Elmer doing the same to Bugs. :D

"Duck Amuck" was the classic of Bugs drawing Daffy; "Rabbit Rampage" was its (lesser) sequel, with Elmer messing with Bugs.

IIRC one of the Bugs vs. Taz cartoons from the early 60's has Bugs losing: a Frankenstein robot he created to beat up Taz winds up beating *both* of them up at the end.

I don't remember the title of the short, but I suppose the one where Bugs has to get the little performing penguin back to Antartica could be considered a loser situation for him.

:bugs1: Hoboken! Ooooh, I'm dy-ing again!

Pardon me, Mac, but could you help a fellow American who's down on his luck? Here!:bugs1:

There was a parite one where bugs kept throwing a match in the poder room where yo sammit told him if he keep doing that he won`t go in blow out the match. So bugs do it anyway and yosammit jump off the ship and swam away. bugs open the door and say you can`t blow up a poder room, then the ship blows up while bugs up in the air admit that he was wrong. :anime:

Don't forget one of my favorites, 'Rebel Rabbit', where not only does Bugs NOT win, he goes to JAIL!
All to prove rabbits are worth more than $.02. But he fails to see that rabbits will be alive a lot longer than most of those other beasts, for who wants a measly $.02? :)
But he does all that damage, ends up being worth $1,000,000, then has the army and navy after him, and ends up going to jail. Was it all worth it, really? :)

Bryan-like Elmer Fudd both go to jail.

There was one cartoon, I think it was called "Hare Brush", it was driected by Friz Freleng in 1955. Elmer pretended he was a rabbit and got into a chase with Bugs Bunny, who was convinced he was "Elmer J. Fudd". The chase lasted long enough for Elmer Bugs to be hauled away by the IRS over tax fradulence. The cartoon ended with Bugs Elmer saying, "I may be a wascilly wabbit, but I'm not going to Alcatraz".

As funny as that was, I can;t imagine Elmer Fudd being THAT clever. :o

Well, Elmer *was* insane at the time.... maybe it held his gullibility/dumbness facilities in check. ;-)

That'd be "Captain Hareblower" (MM, Freleng, 1954). Specifically, it's a talcum powder room, as opposed to the more traditional gunpowder room, which makes the ending gag even funnier (although Yosemite Sam trying to express the fact that he doesn't care about Bugs throwing lit matches into the room by playing with jacks and a yo-yo - before finally cracking under the pressure - certainly help, too).
