Planet Family Guy is saying that the Family Guy movie, which is being released straight to DVD, is unrated, and 83 minutes in length, will hit stores on September 27th, 2005. Commentary and deleted scenes are included.
Also, in order to get the DVD into Wal-Mart, Fox made a "TV safe edit" DVD that will only be available in Wal-Mart. For those of you saying "Who's going to buy that?" Well, no one will, but Fox figures they may as well scam Wal-Mart by selling them a million DVDs no one will buy.

You mean Wal-Mart doesn't create these edited versions on their own?! THE INTERNET IS LYING TO ME!!!
Have you guys seen South Park? People buy at Wal-Mart no matter what!

didn't someone say before that the movie was made into the 3 part episodes coming up in the current season since the show was renewed? I didn't know the movie was still "on"

I think it may be a three parter with extra footage or just a DTV movie. I don't know, but commentary with the FG crew is worth the buy. And "Unrated"! That makes me crave it even more:anime:

The movie better have some improvment compared to the past season. Yet if the film is Unrated it makes me feel uneasy. Not in the sense that certain dialogue offends me, but in the sense that they would curse just for cursing sake like the Live in Las Vegas CD. I don't mind the characters cursing every now and then, but Stewie, Brian, Meg, and Chris are not characters I visual see dropping the F bomb every 3 seconds.
Yet it's funny when South Park does it. And that seems acceptable. Why is that? My theroy is how the mood and the writting is handled between these shows. Matt and Trey constantly act on camera they don't do jack squat half of the time, but they put more deep thought into a majority of the dialouge on their show compared to what I've heard Seth and the crew discuss on Family Guy. Sure it is hard for them to get away with many jokes and gags on FOX, but when given the chance with the CD, they completly blew their chances on taking the time to be more creative rather than rush the lyrics.

If this "movie" will be shown as a 3-parter in the current season, then will it show itself on the inevitable Complete Season 4 DVD?
Just wondering if I should shell out the cash in September, or wait for the complete season release later on...

The catch with this DVD is, the extra 22 minutes of footage will not be shown on TV & will only be on this DVD. So, basically it is an extended version of the three-parter. It is likely only on the 4th season set, this 3-part arc will be the TV version.

Oh crap, I hadn't thought about that possibility. I'll let someone else see it first then I'll read the review and decide what to do.

No, don't worry. Seth said that the only difference in humor is the language. He says that there are a "few" f-bombs. He said he definetly won't go & make it all-out swearing(South Park) because frankly that's not FG's style. He says, there's nothing too shocking in terms of the "unratedness". Probably just a few f-bombs & some controversial gags that wouldn't go by well with the MPAA, but whenever they do a shock gag, it usually is done very subtely & slyly(The Gepetto gag in NBNQ)

I wonder if AS would get the unrated version or the TV safe version?

OOOOOOOOOOOOOh, that makes sense. I was wondering where everyone was getting this 10 episode stuff, when the episode guide said 13 episodes for S4:shrug:

The CD didn't have that many f-bombs. There were a few, but I wouldn't say it was as much as you make it out to be, and so what. Noone's gonna die just because Stewie says the f word a couple of times

the 3 part story was about stewie discovering hes gay this movie is about him finding his real father

Well, no one will, but Fox figures they may as well scam Wal-Mart by selling them a million DVDs no one will buy. Eh? I didn't think retailers risked much on DVDs, don't they they get reimbursed by the publisher if they don't sell (just like books, if you've ever seen the "stripped book" warning in the front of a paperback)? Just a month ago Dreamworks ate some very expensive crow for overestimating demand for Shrek 2, after seven million copies were returned.

7 million copies of Shrek 2... I can only imagine what they do with them. Frisbees, Gifts to random Hobos, Gifts to workers so they don't feel so bad about being fired in about 5 years (when CG finally cools off and a whole bunch of artists will have jobs again), Torture Sessions over at Guantanimo Bay.
So many possibillites...

Maybe if studios didn't feel the need to put out two versions of most every movie.
But then again I mostly just hate those annoying "WIDESCREEEN" bars at the top of the packaging. Just put it out in OAR, damnit.

Chris is Peter's only real child..and that's because a condom broke. So if not for that accident, he'd have no biological children.

This plot never said anything about him actually finding a real father. For all we know, Stewie finds out Peter is his father & he was just speculating

If she is adopted, then what was with the flashback of Peter buying all of the sports gear thinking Meg was a boy?

Brian knows Meg's real father, and Meg doesn't know anything about the fact that Peter isn't her real father. Peter is not necessarily the brightest bulb in the set, so he probably couldn't care that he's not Meg's exact father.
I can see the 3-part episode being a slightly edited version of what was supposed to be a film, but I would think that they would have the uncensored deleted scenes on the Season Four DVD set instead.

While were on the topic of Griffin kids, didn't the show use to hint in the early seasons that there was another Griffin's child that Meg did away with? Was that just a running joke or a dropped plotline?

I don't recall that much, if anything it was probably just a one-time mention for a quick laugh. Family Guy does a good job with making parodies of the 'disturbing revelation' that has been used in so many television shows in the past (ie Twin Peaks, St. Elsewhere), but those that FG uses are not necessarily meant to be taken seriously. Remember, they're all for parodic or humorous use.
Now the things about the causes of Chris' and Meg's births are things that I think will come back to the series in some storyline. Maybe they'll be a future episode where Meg learns the truth, who knows. And as for Chris, I don't think he minds. He does find himself to be the family's favorite, since he is their favorite mistake. :D

If she is adopted, then what was with the flashback of Peter buying all of the sports gear thinking Meg was a boy?Because Lois is still her real mother. Go figure how she ended up having sex with another guy who wasn't Peter. Why am I arguing Family Guy continuity?

Go figure how she ended up having sex with another guy who wasn't Peter
"You never know who's going to turn out famous, so make yourself available" -Lois Griffin on how she "did" KISS.
Since Peter knew about Meg not being his child (he just couldn't remember the guy's name) it was most likley the result of them trying an "open" marriage. Or being swingers. Peter would suggest something bone headed like that. And Lois is pretty wild, there's the S&M and the fact that she boned Gene Simmons.
