The Life and Times of Juniper Lee "It Takes A Pillage" (apologies to Hilary Clinton) :anime:

Juniper's friends become Vikings after being possessed by anchient spirits. Need I say more?

Discuss.

This had to be the best ep of the series so far hands down.

Over-the-top moments:

The Viking ship casino/restaurant

The island prison-turned-shopping mall.

The greeters with perfume who kept getting creamed.

Best lines:

Viking (Realizing he's in Jody's body): AAAAA! I'm a girl! That Viking kind of sounded like Ah-nold. I was half-way expecting him/her to say "girlie man". :D

Ray Ray: C'mon! Chick fight on the roof! That cut kind of close to being dirty.

Jun: (Respoding to being called a runt.) I've got you beat by two inches! That line had a hint of double entendre in it. I certainly hope she was indeed talking about her height and not her bra size! Kind of reminds me (in a twisted way) of Makoto/Sailor Jupiter bragging about her bra size on Sailor Moon (which didn't even make the cut here).

Too obvious cultural references:

Ray Ray ripping off Leonardo DiCaprio's "I'm the king of the world!" scene from Titanic. Thank God they didn't have Jun recreate Kate Wislet's posing for that painting scene.

References to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Star Trek.

But overall a very good ep. Looks like the ep with Loki's up next week. Can't wait for that.

This was the best episode so far, it got a laugh out of me hear and there, it can improve but it's on the right track.

And may I just add that Roger is kinda of an annoying character.

Yeah, this episode was pretty funny. I especially liked June telling those tourists they were recreating the Viking battle.

Better than the pilot but worse than last week's mummy episode. Smack right in the middle.

- Ray Ray is just way, way too enthusiastic about these things. But I guess it balances out Juniper's dislikes of her job.
- Since DocForbin's pulling out 'implied' lines: "Please don't moon us again!" (Jody to Roger). Man, Roger's such a freak!
- Oh yeah... outlet mall on the grounds of the remains of an Alcatraz-like prison island. Whomever came up with that idea needs to find a new profession. As well as the person that decided to keep the place open when they had "eight months without any customers!" In fact... all of those merchants should probably be drowned for living there and waiting that long for business!
- Jumping off a high cliff and into a tree in the intro. And running down the side of a building at high speed to catch Jody at the end? I'm going to say it again, like I did last week... we need a 'origin/power explanation' episode... NOW!

7 out of 10 for "It Takes a Pillage."

I think the defining episode of whether I keep watching JL will be next week, as the promos show her first meeting with Loki, which suggest a more action-oriented episode. (And on a side note... what's with CN showing next week's promo during the first [of the three] commercial breaks? They do it with Teen Titans too... this is an action show! Wait until AFTER the episode is over to show us the preview! Sheesh...)

Yes the Loki epiosde next week is the one that will decide if I keep watching this show or not. Ok I will watch the Sandman episode but next weeks looks like the defining episode.

Anyway this was pretty funny. I liked it better then last weeks whose out of place mummy (Ok out of place personality) really hurt it. There was a lot of humor in this episode and it was just over all quite good 7.5/10

Although this is a cartoon aimed towards kids, there are strong nudges towards a Juniper/Jodie pairing. I know that is not going to happen, but sometimes stuff like that appears.

Please don't get mad at me. I am, after all, a complete and utter nitwit.

Back on topic, a great episode, but why would a mall still be open after going eight months without a customer? They need to advertise better.:D

I know that is not going to happen, but sometimes stuff like that appears. After just three episodes, I think you're stretching theories a bit much, especially with no evidence as far as I can see. There's still the upfront Juniper/Marcus pairing, anyway.

And if anyone should be referred to in a pairing, it's gotta be Roger. He gives off the mentality that he's a player, that he wants a girl, whether it be June, Jody, or Ophelia (or someone else).

idk, but why are so many people obsessed with saying:

[insert cartoon name here] has lesbian action/resemblance between [insert one character name here] and [insert another character here]

In a show aimed at 6-to-11 year olds? The real Yumi is married for golly's sakes.

I know that, that's why I used the word "accidental" as in "not done on purpose."

Can we please get back on topic, now?

Definitely a good episode, though i think "I've Got My Mind on my Mummy..." was better. Despite that, there were some excellent moments, like when the head viking looks in the windows and notices he's in Jody's body. A line like that in an Arnold-like voice is classic. One downpart was the credit scene, which wasn't as funny as they previous two.

This episode gave me a question: did Judd Winick rip off San Francisco in creating the details of Orchid Bay? Obviously, the answer is yes. Just sprinkle in a few trolleys, a landmark bridge, and some Rice-A-Roni (:D ), and they're pretty much the same.

Nice episode, not anywhere near last week's but good still. Had some funny moments such as Takar Island being a mall and Monroe demanding nachoes. *** out of *****.

Oh my god... They were singing "The Aba Daba Honeymoon" -- one of the catchiest yet most annoying songs of all time. I have the sheet music, and a period recording. In fact, you can also find scans of the sheet music online: http://levysheetmusic.mse.jhu.edu/cgi-bin/display.pl?record=151.001.000&pages=5 (and click on the "Page 1" link to move ahead to the actual score).

That makes two references to late 19th- / early 20th-century music on CN in the past week. Last week's Billy & Mandy made a reference to W.C. Handy which also made me think, "Whoa, most people will have no idea who that is."

He said in an interview that Orchid Bay is BASED on his current home town of San Francicso.

MY, " ripping off" aren't we SO quick to accuse people. You MUST chill

And needless to say, if anyone remembers the second season of The Real World where Puck got thrown out of the house, he was part of that year.

This was definitely a stronger episode than the pilot. It had smart humor (I especially enjoyed the scene with the two people who built the mall on an island), great animation and designs that are coming into their own, and some good storyboarding.

I still don't like Kath Soucie's recycled voice, but other than that, this left a better feeling with me than the pilot.

PLEASE, this was a riot.
it gets an "A"

and it's weird that you give it a sub par rating but saying it's VERY funny.
what's an "A" to you?
" I laughed so hard I rupture my pancreas. It's gets an A."

This is my favorite. You can't go wrong with ghost viking themes. The plunder&pillage jokes just write themselves. Ophilia taking chorus to fend off ballet, Roger and Jody "want to see something fine? Please don't moon us again", "I'm a little girl" in the Arnold S accent, sacking the coffee hut and the clerks always cheerful even in the face of "I'll drink meade from the skull of the vanquished", RayRay trying to "move things along" while getting kicked in the head and his "that's not your body and we're gonna want it back." This to me is a completely character driven series and there isn't a character I dislike. Their personalities play off eachother almost perfectly.
