What are the chances of a Puertorican student who wants to attend college in Miami, without taking the Puertorican equivalent of the SAT's, Without speaking English, Without filling any admission papers before May, and without No job experience.

BTW here in PR 9th grade is Junior high, is not high school. High school begins on 10th grade unless you are in a private school.

This is the case of a friend of mine(A.K.A The love of my life.) She decided to go straight to the United states to Study Medial Sonography, But the issue is She's not Bilingual, and I heard that College's in Miami don't Mayor In medicine.
She din't get good grades some B's C's A's D's

So.. Does she stand a chance in the Big North american World?

It depends, if the school demands a High School Diploma, and she does not have it, I would say, as an ex teacher, none. "The issue is she is not bilingual" you say...
but even if the school were to offer her an opportunty, somehow, she could not
converse in English which is the language in the hospitals, and she will be working with sonography equipment,(Is that what we are talking about?) which is I suppose taking ultra sounds of various parts of the body.
It is an in demand profession, but the lanuage in the school,( most important) and the hospitals, she will work in is still likely to be English. The truth is, she could pass a High School Equivilancey exam, and possibly gain admission, but that will be given in English too..(It is possible that Miami offers one in Spanish, but what language does the school teach in, that is most important) .
I am very familiar with that kind of test, since I volunter toutor students at a local community college in reading and speaking English..If she has trouble speaking and understanding English, it is very very unlikely, she can pass this exam. English is a very difficult language to communicate in, if she does not speak it..How will she learn her lessons, if they are taught in English? I am sorry, but I believe that this is likely to be true...Does this school have a special program for Non-English speakers such as she? If not, (it might, because Miami has high Spanish speaking population) then I believe she is wasting her time without a good knowledge of English. particularly some medical English, although the school will probably teach her that, but if her English is bad, she can't learn the material . sorry- Stu
