I have been talking about this for some months now. Until now it was a distant future and was kind of surreal. But tomorrow, at 1P.M. I will be going under the laser. I am having a LASIK Surgery done on my eyes to correct my nearsightness. I am so hyped about this I am half exited and half nervous. The park that worries me most is when they will be cutting a thin flap in my eyes with a special blade. The laser is supposed to take 45 to 60 seconds. Man I hope everything goes well.
Wish me luck.

People I know who have had laser surgery say going to the dentist for a cleaning is a worse experience. Not that I 've gone into it much with them because they immediately start talking about how much better then can see.
Good luck with that and I hope it works out for you.

I'll say a little prayer that all goes well, solarflere :) . I've known quite a few people who have been very pleased with the results of that surgery.

Dude, I am so totally jealous of you. I were glasses and it really annoyes the hell out of me. When I'm 18 I hope to have the surgey done too.
I don't suppose anyone knows of a website with infomation about laser eye surgery. I really want it done but I want to check first too see if me eyes will be suitable for it.
Can people with long-sited ness get fixed, or just people with short...

Well..................I'm Baaaaack:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
The surgery went extremely well. I can see almost perfect. Gotta wait a couple of days for my eyes to stabilize.
Yea if you are farsighted or nearsighted or if you have astigmatism it can be done. Now I don't have to clean my glasses anymore.
Here is a FDA link about all you have to know about Lasik http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/LASIK/default.htm
It was my main research site. And for NYC people, I have done a Year's worth of Homework and picking out the best doctor (not the cheapest). The doctor id Dr. Bley Of QuantumVision.org (http://quantumvision.org/)
He is truly the best. He does all kinds of lasik (there are several ones) and with the newest Eximer Laser the VisX Star S4 laser. The newest FDA approved laser on the market. The whole think cost me $3,300. I was suppose to have the regular lasik done (it was cheaper) but the doctor decided to do the Custom Vue Cornea Lasik (the most accurate one) at no additional cost to me.:D:D:D:D:D I was so happy; it was like an early birthday present. Well that’s all for now.

I would love to have excellent vision without corrective lenses. Unfortunately, I don't have a good job, and I have no insurance (though I hear most don't pay for LASIK or any of these visition-correcting surgeries). I'm glad it went well for you. ;)

Unfortunatlly i'm not even 16 yet though, so I'll have to wait a while until I can get it done. But untill then I am going to get a saturay/holiday job to help save up. I HATE wearing classses

I HATE wearing classses I first heard of LASIK when I was 14. Thats almost 7 years ago. it was first a wild dream. it was only for rich people back then. Then the dream slowly became a its not if, but when. And 7 years later my dream came true. I would recomend that, your vision has to stay stable for about two years before the Lasik. and you be 21. If your vision is not stable and still fluctuates, it will regress and your Lasik will be a waste.
P.S. I now have 20/20 perfect 100% vision. I am so happy beyond belief.

Hey, congrats, solarflere! That's FANTASTIC! :D
Quick question, though: Sounds like they did both of your eyes on the same day, but I was thinking I had heard that they normally didn't do that. Did you have to sign a consent form or something for them to do both at once?
Also, if I may ask, what was your vision before the procedure?

Also, if I may ask, what was your vision before the procedure? Well, They do both eyes at the same time now. You do have to sigh a consent form but its for any lasik prosedute. one eye or both.
I used to have -3.50 both eyes. It was pretty bad. Now I have perfect 100% 20/20 vision.:D:D:D

You know, I've heard of a few people who've done this surgery, even though they knew they'd still have to have glasses (just less strong ones) after the surgery. Personally, I wouldn't do the surgery unless the doctors were reasonably confident that I'd end up with 20/20, like you did, solarflere.

After all I did find the NYCs best.
