It looks like Tom & Jerry has been removed from Cartoon Network, as of May 27. :(

I have scrutinized CN's online schedule for days and found no further showtimes for :tomcat:&:jerry:; it's only airing this month is the new Blast Off To Mars on June 17.

If it's not on hiatus, it may be the latest classic cartoon from CN to be dumped by the channel, in order to modernize it by accommodating more (shudder!!) original material.

I do believe it is on hiatus for the summer, and return after Labor Dabor.

I have to agree with NozeNuggets that Tom and Jerry's absence from the schedule is more of a "summer hiatus" thing, as a lot of family-based channels change their schedules around during the summer months in order to attract more children viewers (as they are out of school and need something to do).

I don't like the idea of oldies being on CN anyway. That's what Boomerang is for.

Same for anime, that's for Toonami.

Don't even go there man.

NO ONE gets Boomerang.

And Toonami is only 4 hours now. 1.5 being non-anime shows (1 hour of that being good so I want it to stay).

There's no reason why classics and anime can't occupy parts of the rest of the channel. They almost always have, why change that now?

Too much new stuff and KWB re-runs to keep the old stuff, not that I approve of that, but none of that stuff belongs anywhere else, and classics and anime have a channel of their own. The executives are doing a terrible job too, re-runing whatever is popular with kitties and canning CCs. But if you can't have original CN classics showing on CN, why put anime and WB/HB classics on the channel when all those programs have their own channels? If there was a CN2, we wouldn't have to be arguing about any of this. And I bet it would have great ratings too.

well, when you think what has been taken off in the past 2 years(looney tunes, jetsons, flinstones, etc.) i'm suprised it wasn't taken off years earlier, and scooby-doo i think will be next with it more than likely on kwb to go on the 7.0 or 7.5 slot

A CN2 would be nice. Something that targeted over 6-11 (probably mostly 9-14 but 12-17 a bit too) where they could stash the shows that made CN great over the years.

By a classics channel and an anime channel I assume you mean Boomerang (which no one gets) and The Anime Network (which even less people get and doesn't air any of the anime on CN except for maybe Milk Chan). Both channels might as well not even be on the air because few cable and satalite providers want more animation channels much less niche ones. I'd say the only channel that would appeal to cable providers at this point would be an Adult Swim based channel given how well the block does with all the major adult demos and beyond.

~Nate~I feel honored being singled out from hundreds of Toon Zoners for this unique post. I feel like... the Cartoon Network Forums' father or something! (But, of course, CookieS is the grandfather of all of this.)
