Geez, it`s not that bad.
Straight Couga is hillarious, and it looks again like a relaxing action show that`s not "uberdeep" like Wolf`s rain or WHR, but not totally lighthearted either.

It's not a horrible show. Granted, it's no "Samuari Champloo" or "Paranoia Agent" - but I liked the second episode better than the first.
I still question why it's on the block like it is, but it's a cute enough show, I suppose. I'll watch it, if only because I want to give it a fair shot first.
I think part of the reason I liked the second episode better than the first was because I reminded myself that while it may be on AS, it's not really an AS-type show. ^^;

It's not too bad. The one real down point was that it was kind of slow. We did see into some characters. I do want to find out what's up with Ryuhou though. He doesn't seem like the "lost memory" kind of person. Who knows.

From these two episodes I can't say its good, but I can't say its bad either ( except with the forced exposition with the guy pactically explaining to the girl how she was a genius, as if she didn't know  ). Its neither, its just, well, GENERIC. In any case its better than another show that tries to be intellectual and fails. NOT the ones that do suceed.
(Some people complain how WS doesn't normally go for what would probably be the obvious hits but go by an entirely different criteria, taste, or whatever. But considering how most of TV is, if it takes them a broken eggs to get the good shows that have some intelligence, then by all means, go for it. When our brains need a break there's the majority of the comedy, and some shows like this. And of course when we want it intellectual, it has to be intellectual FOR REAL. WHR and WR failed, FLCL succeeded with a few flaws, GITS had problems with the themes overpowering the characters and making most unlikable.)
There was some good stuff about this episode that shown through the neutral mediocreness, like Cougar's antics:
"Wonderful, I have another TWO seconds to live!"
OR
"Once again I have made the world smaller" ( And then he cries a tear of joy :p )

I don`t agree about GITS`s charachters, Batou and Togusa were cool, IMO, but I agree with basically everything else you said about this show.
It`s not bad, and it`s not excellent either. It`s a nice little show that dosen`t try to be more than what it is (like the aforementioned shows).

Couger just owns this episode. Otherwise, this episode would've been bland.
I strongly dislike this show but I have to say that the entire RADICAL GOOD SPEED sequence made me LOL.
The character designs on this show are awful. Everybody has some kind of elongated or shortened "Jay Leno chin". Its freakish.

Yes children and bedwetters, Straight Cougar is awesome. He's a far cry from the usual dark brooding characters that Crispin plays, which is a good thing and is probably one of Hirai's select few designs that actually looks unique.

This episode gave a little bit of back ground in the series. I can't wait to see how it turns out. All these interesting powers rock, but I'm thinking the main reason this show isn't on Toonami is because the companies name is HOLY. The don't want to denouce religion on toonami after all.

So we delve a little deeper into s-CRY-ed's story. At least now, some of the things make more sense. I know what an Alter user is, what HOLY is, where they are, who some of the characters are, etc., etc. I think it was better than the first episode, in many ways, but it's still somewhat on the plain side. I think the highlight of the episode, however, what Straight Cougar. The hair, the chin, the fast-talking... He's definately a rowdy and lively person. But it'll still be awhile before I'm completely adjusted to the different type of show it is.
I give Ryuhou a B.
I could never catch what she was saying either...Her name is Mimori Kiryu. There will be many more chances for you to catch her name, but I thought I would help you out anyway. http://www.forums.toonzone.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

S-cry-ed is a perfectly fine action/adventure. It just doesn't fit the image AS has been trying to create for itself. (Actually, neither does Inuyasha anymore, and if IY were being shopped around today, CN would either pass on it or put it on Toonami. But now IY is an Adult Swim institution and I'd be royally PO'd if it were cancelled before all episodes are shown.) (^_*)

and later on the series, it will get mildly better, a bit cliche though after ep. 13 and the events afterward. But kazuma and cougar will fight, and that one is a pretty good ep.
All in all, I don't expect a whole lot for any series from the first few eps, I just hope and pray it gets better.

s-CRY-ed was a bad choice. It's obvious. It should have replaced .hack//DUSK some time ago. Or they could have waited for TV-PG to be a norm for CN. Though it does it's job I suppose. It keeps you awake until FLCL (at least it keeps me awake). And we all need a little sanity in our crack sandwhich (PA followed by FLCL would be INSANE - but good - but s-CRY-ed adds some extra flavor like a piece of lettece or something...).

Because really, it's got the stupid antagonistic organization with a stupid name that's probably an acronym for somthing(OMG HOLD?! I didn't get to say this for the first episode, so I'll say it for this one.
Any show in which the main character has to announce his attack's name, which involves some sort of superhuman power blast, loudly and consistently, does not belong on Adult Swim. =/
and this show blows. It's only confirming my opinion of it from Comic-Con last year.
because three bullet guy always wins...We've seen him in two battles so far. One where he beats up a random character, and one where he got his ass kicked by Ryuoh without any effort on his part.

You were wrong.
Please, don't abuse the word "logical" so blatantly. :(
(and for that matter, having seen tons of cheesy superpower anime, having "A" reason to be powerful written into the plot is merely the ultra-cheesy norm. doesn't fix the complaint)

How does this show have any bad writing in it compared to any other anime, or hell any other entertainment? I've got complaints about this show, but the dialogue is not one of them. The writing is just fine. You want bad writing? Check out Star Wars Episode III. That movie has it in spades.

Well, yeah, I get that they use surrounding matter and "alter" it into whatever thier special thingy is, as evidenced by the huge chunks of landscape that go missing when the characters call upon ther Alters. I was speaking about whatever Vallen Valiant was talking about .
I do seem to remember somthing about an "other side" where that creepy guy who gets introduced at the end is trying to get at.

Better than Ep 1. Straight Cougar alone at least made this watchable. Well, for this week at least. The backstory was intriguing, but there's no indication of why Ryuhou is acting so cold towards Mimori.
And do we have cases of 'inconsistent editing' with another Bandai TV dub? I know the organization's right name is HOLY, but I've seen several instances in the first two episodes where signs or dialogue point to say HOLD. While other instances it's mentioned by its correct name. Someone needs to make up their mind...

Oh, okay. Must've missed that explanation.I don't know if it's ever explicitly explained, at least not for a while. I remember it took about half the series for me to understand the difference, and that's with the subtitles. I imagine it's probably harder when you just hear them saying the words "holy" and "hold" instead of actually seeing "H.O.L.Y." and "H.O.L.D." come up in conversation.
