Kagome choking Shippo hugging him was cute :anime: pretty good stuff for once including the battle with Sangos nice assist near the end. very weird villian though........

Ah, Jakotsu. Its been so long since I read this story in the manga, but its still a great story.

Jakotsu calling Miroku sexy and then Miroku's "suck him up" line were great.

Timmay
06-04-2005, 11:25 PM
What were they thinking when they scripted that line though..

"Hm... we have a transexual saying that Miroku is sexy.. let's have Miroku say something witty about his wind tunnel"

"How about, 'Nobody minds if I suck him up?'"

"I especially like those fuzzy dog ears.................I want them. *licks lips*"

I laughed at that alot more than I should have.

Aaaaanyway. The improved animation sure is helping these fights along alot more. In Sango and Kohaku's spar, I liked the chain effects for Kohaku's weapon.

Jakotsu has one awesome freakin sword as well. The fight at the end was quite awesome.

I was going for an 8, but that fight made up for the last point. 9/10.

I'm gonna have to come in and agree about Miroku's responce, worst thing to say in a situation like that. But though not one thing topped last week's Koga head twist, it was an overall improvement.

So Kohaku is still under Naraku's spell. I really do hope that he eventually breaks free from it. Sango is so tormented and hurt by this. It sucks having your only living relative possessed by the same evil guy who slaughtered your family and village.

Why does Jakotsu sound so much like a woman. I was kinda expecting him to sound like a girly/feminine man or something. He doesn't sound at all like a man. He looks a lot like Kagura too.

The lines between InuYasha, Miroku and Jakotsu were funny as well. I also loved Sango's assistance in battle at the end.

Overall, not a bad episode. 4 outta 5.

Whatever works. ;)

Eh, not sure what to make of the episode. It was okay, but then again, I never watch IY for the superior story or plots that make me think. I do like the dynamics of the Sango/Kohaku relationship, though.

I wasn't paying too much attention to this particular episode, but it wasn't bad. Fun sort of episode, although the dialoge was definitely off in some parts. Rather amusing in some parts, though. ^^

Two things I have to say about tonight's episode:

1. I have to agree with Rabi-En-Rose:Kagome choke-hugging Shippo = kawaii.
(does the "Mechasampo" chant)

2. ...And I thought we already had enough hints of Inu-Yasha shounen-ai with the episode in which a possessed Inu-Yasha almost makes out with Shippo. :anime:

Ugh, I hate the Sango and Kohaku confrontations, since nothing ever happens or develops. It's always: they confront each, Sango gets all sentimental, Kohaku gets confused, they fight for a little bit, then they both separate, Sango gets depressed, and Kohaku gets confused again. Seeing Jakotsu flirt with Inuyasha was humorous, especially with the reactions at first. The fight was okay, though, seeing as Inuyasha was blocking the whole time and could only get a hit in after Sango stepped in.

I give Band of Seven, Resurrected! a C+.

Did he sound more masculine in the japanese version?

Because When he was in that Kimono if I didn`t know otherwise I would have thought he was a girl. I`m surprised no one in the show even brought that up. It`s like the complete opposite of the understandable reaction to kamatari in kenshin.

Inuyasha still wanted to find out what Jakotsu's connection with Naraku was. What other purpose does Naraku have for doing this crap than to piss off and/or kill our heroes? Even dog boy should know this by now. And besides, there's 6 others he can interrogate instead.

Did he sound more masculine in the japanese version? You've heard Envy's Japanese VA, right? That's like how he sounded. Jakotsu in the original was voiced by a woman and he did sound quite feminine in there as well. For reference, if you've seen the Japanese Gundam Wing, Jakotsu's VA also did Quarte.

This one caught my interest, if only for the three rank volley firing formation of the matchlock gunners. Probably a little anachronistic if the gun was introduced to Japan too near to the time portrayed in the episode, since, as I understand it, it took a while for the Japanese to learn proper tactics for such weapons, but it was an interesting detail.

Aaaaanyway. The improved animation sure is helping these fights along alot more. In Sango and Kohaku's spar, I liked the chain effects for Kohaku's weapon. The "improved animation" is a little touch-and-go, depending on who's directing the episode. This episode just happened to be done by the (imho) best of the directors. There are four directors we rotate between through the episodes. Two of them are good, one is okay, and the fourth one sucks.

So Kohaku is still under Naraku's spell. I really do hope that he eventually breaks free from it. Sango is so tormented and hurt by this. It sucks having your only living relative possessed by the same evil guy who slaughtered your family and village. He does eventually break free from it, but then it turns into "I'm free but I can't let anyone know, so now we can BOTH angst when we see each other!" Unfortunately, the anime ends before anyone actually finds out that he's broken free. Post-series, though, they do eventually figure it out, and Kohaku even joins the group for a short while. Then he runs off with Kikyou so that they can start the Walking Dead People Club.

maybe femi man voice would have angered the fangirls. kidding

the character is masculine...a femi voice wouldn't have worked IMO

It`s like the complete opposite of the understandable reaction to kamatari in kenshin.Seriously. I never even considered that Jakotsu was a guy. Then, (s)he approached the battalions and they, without a moment's hesitation, said "he" and "him", and so did Inuyasha and the gang.

I guess I have to take a class in Gender Identification.

I thought Jakotsu was a chick up until someone mentioned it was a guy on here (I believe in last week's topic). *sigh*

One thing that's been bugging me about this series is the changing of where the commercial break occurs. From here on out, it becomes standard to repeat the scene before the commercial break when the show resumes. But with the commercial break moved, the show just plows through the original break seamlessly, giving us the same scene twice in a row.

And I'll kinda go against the rest of the "purist" fandom and say that I'm fine with Jakotsu's English voice. Sure, it's hardly the greatest thing since Steve Blum, but it sounds reasonably close to the original. The actress just needs to add a couple more dashes of "hyperness", and she'll be all set. She's got a lot of time to work on the voice, given that Jakotsu is the longest-lived of the Shichinintai, episode-span-wise.

Well, Naraku's main objective isn't something silly like taking over the world or killing all humans. It's to piss off and/or otherwise annoy our good-looking band of heroes. Nothing more, nothing less.

Is that villian a Homo? He just called Inuyasha CUTE?!?!?!?! OMG!! :eek:Yes, Jakotsu is a gay male character. His infatuation with Inuyasha provides quite a bit of humor throughout this story arc. I think that as the arc goes on, Jakotsu's VA will be putting a harder edge onto his voice. I could already hear signs of that in this episode, especially during the fight.

I think this is the first time firearms appear in this series. The whole series is set around the time firearms were first introduced into Japan. Just imagine the gunners' surprise, though, when their new hi-tech miracle weapons failed to kill Jakotsu, or even disturb him very much. Anyway, I'm glad we're finally getting into this arc, which was a favorite of mine from the manga. (^_*)

Mark spoilers, please! You know, this actually really annoys me, because now I know part of the order of how they're going to die. That just sucks. Apparently they have found another way to stall the series.. to the point that it ends without resolve. The series is still going on in the manga (with many big things that have already happened that have not being shown in the anime), the story hasn't ended yet.

I figured all the prior comments of "later in the series" already sort of implied that he's not going to get killed off right away. The Shichinintai arc is 20 episodes long, and given that there's only seven of them, it kinda stands to reason that at least a few of them last more than one episode.

Everyone's so oblivious to the fact that he's a homosexual, we may as well just assume they're all saying "she" and "her." It really doesn't make any difference! (Except for the infamous Miroku "Suck him up" line...)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that we DO see all seven of them by the end of this arc. It would be kind of stupid to haul around the story of the Band of Seven without actually being able to see all seven of them at least once. We've already seen that one big guy, Jakotsu, and next week is the poison dude/chick (can't be too careful) that we saw some glimpses of this week.

Yeah, but

by saying that Jakotsu lasts the longest now I know that the other 5 will die before him. Enough spoilers like that and I'll know the exact order that they die in before they die. Besides, it's not like I necessarily knew they were going to die. Several villains in this show have turned into good guys, like Sheshoumaru and Koga.

I didn't say he lasted the longest. I said that he was the longest-lived, episode-span-wise. Meaning he's the one who appears in the most number of episodes of any of them. For all you know, this could mean that he dies next week, giving him an appearance of three episodes, and all the other ones show up later and last two episodes or less each. You're reading too much into what I said.

an arc does have a tendency to make things more constant. so this could be interersting. so you can tell who the band of seven are by that chestplate they wear?

Naraku seems like a jerk who wants everyone to feel as miserable as he does. unless hes just evilly happy.

okay...Miroku's line could have been scripted better...but how else would we have such immature fun about it?:p

Naraku seems like a jerk who wants everyone to feel as miserable as he does. unless hes just evilly happy. He's not miserable, he's bored. I mean, InuYasha's been stuck to a tree for 50 years, he has no idea Miroku and Sango exist, and the girl he wanted to make a sex slave is dead. Meanwhile, Fluffy's off fighting cat demons. He likes torturing people, but it's no fun if IY's not around, so he decided to wait around to see if somebody would release him.

Naraku gave Miroku's grandfather the curse first. Basically, Miroku's grandpa was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

However, I doubt Naraku constantly keeps an eye on Miroku's family...
