Gandalf - The Lord Of The Rings
Obi-Wan Kenobi - Star Wars
Yoda - Star Wars
Prof. Xavier - X-Men
Rayden - Mortal Kombat
Splinter - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Zordon - Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie
or someone else

I got to give it to Yoda. You could make a case for Gandalf as a better character, but Yoda's a better mentor-- Gandalf was too busy kicking ass to do much actual mentoring.

What, no Liam Neeson? He trained Obiwan Kenobi AND Batman.

You gave Morpheus the shaft. Strange. You act as if Morpheus deserves to be on the mentor list.

Ok, I know there's an "other" option, but no Dumbledore?? Yikes. And maybe this should be restricted to "Best Fantasy Movie Mentor..."

i gotta say splinter...
i luv his speeches to both raphael and the entire group in the woods from "teenage mutant ninja turtles: the movie." they really convey his role as a father figure and the comraderie between the Turtles, which, I think were both lost as the movie series progressed:
"I have tried to channel your anger, Raphael. But more remains. Anger clouds the mind. Turned inward, it is an inconquerable enemy. You are unique among your brothers, for you choose to face this enemy alone. But as you face it, do not forget them, and do not forget me. I am here, my son."
-- Splinter, to Raphael.
"I am proud of you, my sons. Tonight, you have learned the final and greatest truth of the Ninja: that ultimate mastery comes not of the body, but of the mind. Together, there is nothing your four minds cannot accomplish. Help each other. Draw upon one another, and always remember the true force that binds you. The same which has brought me here tonight; that which I gladly return with my final words: I love you all, my sons."
-- Splinter, to the Turtles through meditation.

Even though we likely all have faith he'll do a great job in BATMAN BEGINS, we simply just don't know, yet. Therefore we can't include him...
This is a tough one, because there are SO many people that could fit the bill here. Hmm...let me get back to ya'll.

Are we strictly talking about sci-fi movies here? If not, then I'd vote for William Forrester (Sean Connery) in Finding Forrester

This is a tough question, I'm split between Gandalf or Obi-Wan, yet I do wish that Dumbledore was on the list. DC_Gothmite makes a good case for Splinter.
Prof. Xavier is a very good teacher, and a wise mentor in the movies.
I don't know what to vote, let me think it over.
