View Full Version : "WWE Backlash" Prediction Thread

Welcome to the slightly late (but not too late) Backlash prediction thread! Remember that predictions cannot be made or edited after 8 p.m. EDT on Sunday, May 1.
Near as I can tell, Backlash has 6 scheduled matches, so everyone's total will be out of 6. If you refuse to pick on principle, Kippy has no clue who you want, or you just plain miss it, you will get it wrong. For example, if you don't pick a winner in Kane's match because you can't figure out how WWE can release Matt Hardy and then put Viscera on the PPV you will get it wrong. Make sense? Fabulous.
World Heavyweight Championship
Champion Batista vs. Triple H
Shawn Michaels & Hulk Hogan vs. Muhammad Hassan & Daivari
Last Man Standing Match
Chris Benoit vs. Edge
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Jericho
World Tag Team Championship - Tag Team Turmoil
Champions William Regal & Tajiri vs. The Heart Throbs vs. La Résistance vs. The Hurricane & Rosey vs. Simon Dean & Maven
Kane with Lita vs. Viscera with Trish
Please remember this thread encompasses anything to do with predictions. Should you feel the need to tally up your score, "challenge" people, or tell the story of the "match for the championship" that is going to fit in here, not the talkback thread for the event which will of course be posted Sunday.

1.
Batista retains the title. I now see no reason why HHH should get the title, since he hit his Pedigree on the Animal.
2.
I think the Hulkmaniacs2K5 win here. I don't see a HBK turn here. But I wouldn't be surprised if Marty Jannetty turns on HBK because of this.
3.
Edge will win, since he still has that Money in the Back business.
4.
I'll pick Benjamin. He'll do better in the long run than Y2J.
5.
I'll go out on a limb here. The Heartthrobs will become the Raw Tag Champs. since Smackdown has new blood as Tag Champs. Why not RAW?
6.
I'm going on a major limb. I'll pick Viscera. And this will be the beginning of Heel Lita since there's no possible way she'll be cheered now. Hell, we might get a good ol' fashioned double turn with Trish and Vis as unlikely faces. While Kane and Lita become heels.

World Heavyweight Championship
Champion Batista vs. Triple H
Winner: Batista
Shawn Michaels & Hulk Hogan vs. Muhammad Hassan & Daivari
Winner: HBK and Hogan (Wouldn't it be cool if Marty Jannety came in and sided with Hassan and Daivari and helped them get the win over Hogan and HBK though?)
Last Man Standing Match
Chris Benoit vs. Edge
Winner: Edge (God I hate this guy.)
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Jericho
Winner: Y2J Chris Jericho (Im a huge Jericho fan and this could go either way so im just going to go with him)
World Tag Team Championship - Tag Team Turmoil
Champions William Regal & Tajiri vs. The Heart Throbs vs. La Résistance vs. The Hurricane & Rosey vs. Simon Dean & Maven
Winners: Simon Dean and Maven (Looks like WWE is really wanting to push these two. Im all for a Simon Dean push, but Maven will always suck)
Kane with Lita vs. Viscera with Trish

Winners:
Batista

Edge
World Heavyweight Championship
Champion Batista vs. Triple H
Winner: Batista - Even though I wouldn't be surprised if it happened, WWE would be idiotic to have consecutive 1 month reigns for the young guys who beat HHH.
Shawn Michaels & Hulk Hogan vs. Muhammad Hassan & Daivari
Winner: Micheals/Hogan - I can't see Hogan losing, unless it led to a singles thing which I doubt. Maybe a run-in from Jannety to screw HBK?
Last Man Standing Match
Chris Benoit vs. Edge
Winner: Edge - Someone will cost Benoit, or help out Edge. Can't see Edge losing with that title shot in his sights.
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Jericho
Winner: Jericho - Shelton has had it for awhile, and I think Y2J will get gold around himself for the first time in awhile.
World Tag Team Championship - Tag Team Turmoil
Champions William Regal & Tajiri vs. The Heart Throbs vs. La Résistance vs. The Hurricane & Rosey vs. Simon Dean & Maven
Winner: Simon Dean/Maven - Time to push these guys and see if they can get anything going. Maven needs a chance.
Kane with Lita vs. Viscera with Trish
Winner: Viscera - His latest role is entertaining, Kane is abysmal and shouldn't win.

Shawn Michaels & Hulk Hogan vs. Muhammad Hassan & Daivari
HBK & Hulk Hogan will win.
Last Man Standing Match
Chris Benoit vs. Edge
Edge will win.
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Jericho
Y2J is slowly turning heel, and he will have completed that turn with a win over Shelton Benjamin.
World Tag Team Championship - Tag Team Turmoil
Champions William Regal & Tajiri vs. The Heart Throbs vs. La Résistance vs. The Hurricane & Rosey vs. Simon Dean & Maven
It's a long shot, but the Heart Throbs will pull an upset and win the Tag Team titles.
Kane with Lita vs. Viscera with Trish
Come on. Viscera is still wrestling after all these years? Kane is going to own that guy.

Shawn Michaels & Hulk Hogan vs. Muhammad Hassan & Daivari

World Heavyweight Championship
Champion Batista vs. Triple H
Batista has avoided the pedigree everytime except for Monday, and frankly he should have avoided that one too. I think they just had HHH connect because it's basically been a month since anyone got to see his finisher. In the end, victory once again comes with the Batista bomb.
Shawn Michaels & Hulk Hogan vs. Muhammad Hassan & Daivari
Hassan and Daivari are finally getting their PPV match that they've wanted for quiet some time, but HBK and Hogan will continue to ride their momentum from 2 weeks ago, and Hassan will finally lose a match without being disqualified. After the loss, I think Hassan will turn against Davari, and the 2 will become individual wrestlers. HBK also gets his last hurrah on a Raw PPV. Shawn Michaels & Hulk Hogan prevail.
Last Man Standing Match
Chris Benoit vs. Edge
Edge has won all bu 1 match in the past 2 months, and he'll become the ultimate heel as he uses every weapon at his disposal to not only win, but try and end Benoit's career. Edge wins and Benoit goes to the hospital.
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Jericho
I feel the WWE Draft is going to have big implications on this match, because if either of these men are going to be headed for Smackdown!, then that man will probably lose the match. With that being said though, I don't think either man is headed for Smackdown! I pick Shelton Benjamin because I believe that Charlie Haas will come over from Smackdown and become the #1 contender for the IC.
World Tag Team Championship - Tag Team Turmoil
Champions William Regal & Tajiri vs. The Heart Throbs vs. La Résistance vs. The Hurricane & Rosey vs. Simon Dean & Maven
The Heart Throbs showed promise with their unique style in their debut match, but I believe it is a bit too early for them to become new champions, so I look to the other teams. La Re'sistance hasn't been appearing in too many match-ups as of late, so they'll be a bit rusty and won't win the match. The Hurricane and Rosey deserve to be champions, but I can't help but get that feeling that they'll be the first ones eliminated in this match because all we've really seen of them is when they get pounded by Triple HHH. I do think it is time for some heels to become the World Tag Team Champs though, so i'm picking Simon Dean & Maven.
Kane with Lita vs. Viscera with Trish
Viscera basically came out of no where 2 weeks ago and pounded Kane into the ground. You know the big red machine is going to want revenge for that strike, but can he overpower one of the biggest guys in the WWE? The answer is yes, Kane will prevail and win this match-up. Viscera is not due for any type of title shot in the near future, but Kane could easily contend for any of the titles. However, this match will not be clean for Lita and Trish. You can expect both of them to be going head to head outside the ring, but after Kane wins the battle Trish will once again run, and she'll be saved by none other than Gene Snitsky whom Trish has "hired" to take out Viscera after the match. The battle between Gene and Kane will resume the following night on Raw.

Batista (If WWE is smart, they'll not do the Orton thing with Batista, but, then again, this is WWE we're talking 'bout)
They've already botched Batistas' reign, Hunters' still cutting twenty minute promos, whilst Batista has to settle for the same generic face moments like "help the hapless announcer" and cutting horrendous face promos instead of what the crowd really wants to hear.
I find the rationality behind every champion that is'nt Triple H baffling, as people were saying the EXACT same thing about Benoit in 2004, what makes Batista any different?

World Heavyweight Championship
Champion Batista vs. Triple H (Batista)
Shawn Michaels & Hulk Hogan vs. Muhammad Hassan & Daivari (Hogan will get the fall)
Last Man Standing Match
Chris Benoit vs. Edge (Well, I am saying a double-KO)
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Jericho (Jericho)
World Tag Team Championship - Tag Team Turmoil
Champions William Regal & Tajiri vs. The Heart Throbs vs. La Résistance vs. The Hurricane & Rosey vs. Simon Dean & Maven (Maven and Dean, would be interesting to see Nova and Tough Enough winning this)
Kane with Lita vs. Viscera with Trish (Viscera)
Please remember this thread encompasses anything to do with predictions. Wait. Backlash is today? Crap. Well here are my picks. My rank is going down.
Batista (If he loses, I will be pissed)
Hogan and Micheals (You know Hogan wouldn't be in this match if he wasn't going to win.)
Benoit (With Edge beating him down post-match. No it doesn't make sense. Shut up)
Jericho (Shelty's had it for 7 months. He can drop it now.)
Heart Throbs (Give the new guys the titles! MNM's still better though)
Kane (I don't even know how Viscera/Trish's date ended)
I was the first lady champ of TWE? 'Das cool :D.

World Heavyweight Championship
Champion Batista vs. Triple H (Batista)>>>Batista
Shawn Michaels & Hulk Hogan vs. Muhammad Hassan & Daivari>>>Hogan and Michaels
Last Man Standing Match
Chris Benoit vs. Edge >>>>Edge since he still has that world tittle match.
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Jericho >>Benjamin since Jericho hasn't renewed his contract yet.
World Tag Team Championship - Tag Team Turmoil
Champions William Regal & Tajiri vs. The Heart Throbs vs. La Résistance vs. The Hurricane & Rosey vs. Simon Dean & Maven >>>Hard to predict since the tag titles are so worthless anyone can get them. But I'll say Regal and Tajiri.
Kane with Lita vs. Viscera with Trish >>> Viscera. I think they hope that if they ignore the anti Lita chants they'll go away eventually so I don't think she'll go heel.
Kippy
05-01-2005, 02:56 PM
World Heavyweight Championship
Champion Batista vs. Triple H
WINNER: BATISTA. It's no secret that WWE botched Orton's title run. They've already done a poor job with Batista's. I'm just hoping that they won't be dumb enough to have Batsta drop the belt tonight.
Shawn Michaels & Hulk Hogan vs. Muhammad Hassan & Daivari
WINNER: SHAWN MICHAELS & HULK HOGAN. C'mon, Hogan's going to come back just to lose a match? The Hulkster will get the victory here by pinning Daivari. A lot of people are talking about possible heel turns by Michaels or Jannetty, so it will be interesting to see if either of those happen.
Last Man Standing Match
Chris Benoit vs. Edge
WINNER: EDGE. This could be the match of the night. The feud between these two has been great and has done a lot to make me view Edge as a big-time heel. I'd really like to see Benoit get some revenge tonight, but I'm guessing that Mr. Money in the Bank will be the last man standing.
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Jericho
WINNER: SHELTON BENJAMIN. This is a tough one to call since both men have been directionless recently. Benjamin's had the title for a long time now, but I don't think he'll be dropping it to Jericho tonight. Maybe later, but I'd like to see Benjamin do something with the belt before he finally loses it.
World Tag Team Championship - Tag Team Turmoil
Champions William Regal & Tajiri vs. The Heart Throbs vs. La Résistance vs. The Hurricane & Rosey vs. Simon Dean & Maven
WINNER: WILLIAM REGAL & TAJIRI. Well I guess we won't be getting a match on HEAT tonight because this is basically the HEAT roster. Only Venis and Masters are missing. I'm going to pick the champs to win this one. They need some revenge after losing to Hassan and Daivari on RAW and being attacked by the Heart Throbs. Maybe we'll see a sixth team show up in an Armageddon 2003 repeat.
Kane with Lita vs. Viscera with Trish
WINNER: VISCERA. If Viscera wins this match, he's due to get some lovin' from Trish. That is an odd stipulation. WWE almost always goes through with odd stipulations. Somehow Viscera will win this one against Kane, the monster PPV jobber.

Shawn Michaels & Hulk Hogan vs. Muhammad Hassan & Daivari

Last Man Standing Match
Chris Benoit vs. Edge
Edge is getting the push right now. Should be a great match. WINNER: EDGE
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Jericho
Tough one to call. Jericho really needs a win here, but I get the feeling he'll be going to Smackdown soon. WINNER: SHELTON BENJAMIN
World Tag Team Championship - Tag Team Turmoil
Champions William Regal & Tajiri vs. The Heart Throbs vs. La Résistance vs. The Hurricane & Rosey vs. Simon Dean & Maven
No idea on this one at all. I think the only 2 teams with a shot are the champs and the Heart Throbs. I'll go with the new guys for a surprise win (hey, it worked on Smackdown...). WINNERS: THE HEART THROBS
Kane with Lita vs. Viscera with Trish
Going out on a limbe here and picking big Vis. As dumb as this angle is, I think they'll milk i a little longer. WINNER: VISCERA
Shame that my boy Christian isn't on the card, maybe they'll thow him and Tomko into Tag Turmoil. Should be a good show.

Sunday Night Heat did get a match though: Val Venus vs. Tyson Tomko, not that it was much of a match. I certainly hoped that it wasn't a sign of things for the PPV, and since Hurricane and Roswey won the tag titles it sounds like it wasn't. I suppose we can begin to expect a Tajiri/ Regal vs. Hurricane/ Rosey rematch either next week on Heat or tommorow on Raw.

Just admit it Spike, you're a bum. You might be able to beat a few rookies but you can't stand up to a real champion like me. Look what happened tonight, I busted your head open and that was nothing. We haven't even gotten to the good part yet and when we do you'll wish you never pissed me off.

Well a new Intercontinental Champion had to be crowned because Sugar Daddy didn't show up to defend his belt! James_Batista was able to win the vacated title in his very first time out. It must be the name. We'll see if his luck will continue when he (hopefully) shows up to defend the belt later this month.

He is still the World Heavyweight Champion...
VCXZX!!! (99)
Top Contenders (138)
1. Kippy (97)
2. Zero Signal (96)
2. The Penguin
4. Red Giant (95)
5. Spontaneous Mike (94)
6. Kasumi (93)
7. Majin_Megabyte (92)
8. Robin2099 (91)
9. Spike Mcdougal (90)
The man with the unpronounceable name was victorious in his very first title defense. It wasn't easy, though, and it's about to get even harder. There is now only a nine point difference between the World Heavyweight Champion and the bottom of the top contenders list. I don't think it's ever been quite this close before, so the results of Judgment Day should be very interesting.

Thanks again and be sure to return later this month for Judgment Day!
The Intercontinental Title Champion is decided by a calculating who has the highest percentage of correct guesses over the three most recent pay-per-views. The Heavyweight Title score awards points for correct guesses (no penalty for wrong guesses) for the six most recent pay-per-views. The points system for the heavyweight title is weighted such that more recent pay-per-views are worth more points. Click here (http://www.rit.edu/~mdk8894/toonzone/backlash05.xls) to view the spreadsheet used to make these calculations. Please, please check my work!

And here's the other results
TWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
VCXZX(C) VS TWE Commissioner Kippy
VCXZX made it out of his first title defense aginst the comish, thanks to a powerbomp. The same move he used to defeat Majin Megabyte
TWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Sugar Daddy(C) VS Freedom Fighter
Unfortunatly Sugar Daddy and Freedom Fighter no show so another battle royal was held to crown a new champion. an unknown name James Batista eliminated the former champion Kasumi to win the IC title
FIVE FISTS OF FURY MATCH ONE
Spike Mcdougal VS Spontaneous Mike
Mcdougal made it clear that he would not back down and he proved it even after being busted open. It took the ref getting knocked down and a chair shot for Spontaneous Mike to get the first win. But it's not over yet
The Penguin

Man, I was so close to picking Hurricane & Rosey too!! I actually had them typed out and then deleted it! Oddly, I almost seem to do better when I have no idea what's going on.
