FOURWAY IN THE UK
APRIL 28, 2005

The loyal WWE fans in Birmingham, England will be part of a huge match as a Fatal Fourway will be on tap when SmackDown! visits the United Kingdom.

General Manager Theodore Long announced last week that Kurt Angle, JBL, Booker T & Big Show would have a match to decide who gets the first chance to face WWE Champion John Cena.

With four ultra-talented competitors in the ring at the same time and the stakes so high, there's no telling what might unfold.

Meanwhile, Rey Mysterio & Eddie Guerrero will get a rematch with MNM for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Will Mysterio and Guerrero be able to co-exist after their problems last week when they lost the championship to the cocky newcomers?

Plus, Carlito's Cabana will welcome Kurt Angle. The Cabana has been the site of some crazy happenings lately. What could possibly be in store for this week with the Olympic Champion as the guest?

Also, WWE Champion John Cena will be in action, taking on Rene Dupree, as he prepares for his first championship defense against the winner of the much-anticipated Fatal Fourway.

Don’t miss SmackDown! on UPN (8/7 CT).

I missed the first hour of Smackdown because of the damn Presidential address. Between that, and the constant sports pre-emptions in various areas, Smackdown should be on USA in the fall. Highly unlikely though.

The first thing I caught was Eddie officially becoming a heel. Very nicely done. I would worry if I were the WWE if Eddie gets more cheers than Rey. Also of note, the announcers going the "Owen" route with Tazz' glasses off and them talking in "kayfabe" voices. They were treating the turn like it was a tragedy.

Christina Aguilera should've hooked up with Cena to do a track on his album. That could've got some sales right off the bat.

Main event was so-so. Not surprised that JBL got the win. It was being advertised in the Minnesota area that JBL would fight Cena. In an, ah I shouldn't say what type of match it is yet.

Not only that, we get a nice feud for Booker in the form of Kurt Angle. It's about time Booker has a good feud.

I agree, it's more suited for a net like Bravo or something.

Eh, I don't see the network of "Queer Eye" and "Celebrity Poker" having wrestling.

Like I said in the last post, I'd prefer USA to air Smackdown so that only one network will have all WWE broadcasting, except for Telemundo and syndication.

This is for NYC viewers like me from the Wrestling Observer:

"--For those in New York, Smackdown will run in its entirety from 5-7 p.m. Sunday on WWOR." (UPN-9.)

SmackDown! was okay from what I saw this week. I just wish they'd occasionally have the cruiserweights later in the show so I could actually see them. So far the Judgment Day is shaping up to be pretty good.

MNM versus Eddie and Mysterio was a lot more entertaining this week. Most of the in-ring action looked good, outside of Mysterio hitting Eddie. So far Eddie's heel turn is working out well, but I really don't see the need for it, at least now.

Whoa, Cena squashing Duprée. I've never seen that before. Like I said last week, things should pick up for the WWE Champion now that the number one contender has been determined.

Another Morgan squash. Yawn. It's hard to look intimidating when you're defeating nobodies, but it's even harder when you've been saddled with a stuttering gimmick.

JBL's little interview was great once Big Show showed up. He said what the fans have been thinking for months.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing Cena's music video. An A-Team video could be awesome.

The main event match was okay. Everybody teaming up to take out the Big Show was fun and Angle and Booker really worked well together. The ending was kind of lame. JBL had to use a ref bump, three men interfering, and a chair shot to get the win. After all that he certainly doesn't look like a legitimate threat to Cena's championship.
