This is the closest thing to a live action World's Finest movie for at least a few years.

Originally, a Superman-Batman project was greenlit a few years ago, then shelved. Some at WB felt it kinda shafted Superman, so they wanted to reintroduce Superman and Batman separately "Before they were brought together."

So, if they go by the original plan, a World's Finest movie might still be in the cards, (with the two franchises intersecting after two movies each.)

I don't know if I want it though. "Freddy vs. Jason" and "Alien vs. Predator" give the impression that crossover movies happend when two franchises are in big trouble and very desperate, and hope to generate interest by smooshing together. True, Superman and Batman were in that kind of trouble when the project was being considered, but the new movies give hope for the future, so I'd rather not see a crossover undo the goodness of Batman Begins and Superman Returns.

Style, I read somewhere that Bale did an interview where he is/will be doing a Supes/Bats movie. I guess it all depends on how well both movies do in the box office.

Sorry, Doc, I'm a little slow on the uptake here: Are you referring to the 8-minute Batman Begins thing that will be with the Smallville season finale?

I thought at first when I saw the thread title that this might be about Sandy Collora's World's Finest short film, which was done as a mock movie trailer for a non-existent summer '05 film. That short film was clearly derived from the DCAU Batman/Superman Movie (a.k.a. the "World's Finest" episode of STAS), but with Two-Face substituted for Joker.

That was just Bale messin' with the fans' heads. Warners denies that they are going to combine the franchises. Scheduling would be a nightmare.

Bony, Yes, the promo poster is for the Batman preview. But, speaking of Sandy Collora's World's Finest trailer. I have it and watched it again. For a low-low budget project...it was very good.

Weed, thanks for the update. Sucks though. I think Warner is making a huge mistake not doing this. If done right it would be huge. Again, like not doing a Justice Legue movie, Warner has shown it doesn't have the cajones to take a chance a do this.

Collora's World Finest was hardly low budget. I heard it cost around $30k to make, which I believe since I know his first short, Batman Dead End cost that much. Having been to film school myself, I really don't see $30k worth in either short.

As for WB's Worlds Finest, last I heard it was good to go until Wolfgang Petersen bailed to direct Troy. This was just as Singer was signed on to do Superman Returns. It seems, as mentioned before, WB would rather wait for Batman Begins and Superman Returns to come out before committing to WF, which I would guesstimate to cost $170 mil (Superman's reported budget is $200mil and Batman's is $135 mil).
