Several atmospheric factors are converging today to create a conditions likely for a severe weather outbreak. The main threat with this outbreak is expected to be large hail, although there is a decent risk for tornadoes as well. The Storm Prediction Center has a statement (http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/pwo.html) on the situation and a map (http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day1otlk.html) showing the areas likely to be affected.

If you are near the affected area be sure to keep an eye on the developing weather situation throughout the day so you can take shelter if necessary or so you know where to go storm chasing (but only if you are properly trained!). The best coverage can be found by using a NOAA Weathre Radio. Alternatively, some radio and television stations also provide decent, and sometimes more indepth, coverage for your local area. Online, the best place to go is the National Weather Service site for your area. The page looks like this (http://www.crh.noaa.gov/forecasts/MOZ041.php?warncounty=MOC019&city=Columbia), you'll just need to type in your zip code to get your own local page.

If severe weather does strike your area, get to a small, sturdy, low-level room away from windows. If outside get low, such as in a ditch. Do not hide under an overpass!

From the looks of things, only hail looks like it'll come around the Pennsylvania area. Not too bad I suppose. Thanks for the point out though.

I'm very confused, but I'm flying tomorrow.

Can some one translate what this means for the Northeast?

It means bumpy weather. And incase ya didn't see, I live in PA, which is in the Northeast. Lol

Thanks for the heads-up, Will, though it looks like it's just going to rain in VA.

The Weather Channel has a pretty detailed, easy-to-read forecast here (http://www.weather.com/newscenter/fcstsummary.html?from=wxcenter_news).

Here in Bakersfield we're getting sprinkles.

But they're not just any sprinkles, they're EXTREME sprinkles!

Thanks. From what I gather I should be okay to fly tomorrow. Saturday would have been sketchy, though.

And I officially think the weather channel hates Md. I mean, come on. Western New York, Western Penn, Western Virginia but no Western Md which is between the two.

I wish the mid-atlantic would get their own section and not be clumped into the northeast. Stupid weather channel...

Here in Montana we've had snow the past few days, though it's mostly melted now. We had some rain today, though it turned into snow later on. According to The Weather Channel, it's supposed to get into the 60s for the next few days and be nice Saturday for our softball games:p But after that, looks like it'll be raining more again. I miss the sun.
