I didn't know if I should start this thread here or in the DCAU thread, so I just decided to start it here since the first Krypto Talkback was here. This is the official talkback for Krypto the Superdog's first week on CN (minus Krypto's Scrypto). This week:

04/05/2005- Super Flea/ A Bug's Strife
04/06/2006- Meet the Dog Stars/ The Streaky Story
04/07/2005- Diaper Madness/ Feline Fatale
04/08/2005- Dog-Gone Kevin / Dark Hound

Now let the talkback begin.

Super Flea/ A Bug's Strife
Well, I thought both of these episodes were enjoyable. It was hilarious to see Kevin get carried away by a flea, and it was also funny to see what happens when Krypto gets an itch. I'd hate to have to pay for all those repairs. The first episode did bring up a question for me that remainded through the episode. When did Scratchy (or whatever that cats name is) find out Krypto's identity, and when did he gain superpowers? It would have been nice to see a story on how that happened.
In the second episode we finally see Lex Luthor, and we find out he has a pet iguana. How ironic is it that the guy people think of as a reptile has a reptile for a pet? When did Krypto gain this iguana enemy though? Just how long is there inbetween episode 1 and 2? A little story continuation would have been nice, but overall both episodes were enjoyable. I give them a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

After seeing this Pilot episode for Krypto the Superdog, I have to say that this is perhaps a great show that Paul Dini has conceived..(and in fact there will be a bit of notes here about this..

Now in the first episode, Super Flea, I have to say, it was quite amusing. (After all the Flea is Kryptonian and in fact so are Streaky and Krypto (after all bigddan11, I remember back in the day there was a "Streaky" the Super cat (Apparently Jor-el, when he put up the first rocket (n a test) he loaded up a Cat and a Dog from Krypton, and in the process when both animals landed on earth, well they accquired super powers (after all Streaky is a Kryptonian Feline.) but getting back to the Flea, well I have to say that this flea and the woes it cause Krypto were perhaps the funniest things to rule the day. (After all How do you kill a "Super Flea?" Easy.. Use Krptonian Bug Spray! :D )But in the end, Super flea left me smiling and laughing, and i have to say Paul Dini does it again.. 4.5 out of 5 stars on this episode..

Now in a Bug's Strife, they give us Lex Luthor. (And i have to say the Stylization is nothng like the Luthor we have come to know and Love (or Hate) , and in fact I didn't know that Luthor had a Pet Iguana named Iggy. But what happens when Iggy decides to grow a Catapiller into a supersize meal? Well that's when it really gets fun. and we see a Large Catapiller rampaging through Metropolis..(Shades of Mothra!) But what's even funnier is the Interactions between Krypto, Streaky, and Iggy, and I have to say this one is yet another fun one to watch (a little lame at the end, but still a great way to tell a story. I give this one 4 out of 5 stars.

The Bottom Line
Paul Dini I feel has created a really wonderful show with Krypto, and i hope that the rest of the week doesn't disappoint. I feel that Krypto could be CN's greatest Morning Lineup asset and in fact it's fun to see even Streaky the super cat having a laugh in this one.. all In all This show doesn't disappoint, and in fact I'll probably put this one on my "To Watch List" (Note to self, Get up at 9AM and Watch Krypto. (After all this one is definitely barking up the right tree (Too bad There isn't any mention of Superman or Superboy in this one but eh, it's a dog's (and Cat's) Life..So the bottom line is that Krypto is a great show, will be back tomorrow when the next episode airs!

I'm with bigddan11: So far this show's biggest problem is that it fails to introduce certain plot elements that it should of introduced before.

Although from what I hear, the Dog Star Patrol and Ace The Bathound will get proper introductions, and that Streaky will actually be shown gaining superpowers in a later episode.

I also want to known when Streaky found out about Krypto, or when Ignanious starting becoming a threat. I mean really, the main audience is about kids: Kids also want to know when things start or else they'll be confused.

Otherwise though, a set of nice episodes. I liked the "insect theme" in both, and having Krypto speak the episode titles and writers/directors was a nice touch (very 80's/90ish). I mean, even if it is written for little children it's not the "annoying" way of writing for little children. There's stuff in here for all audiences if you search through it enough.

"Super Flea" Highlights: Kevin getting the hairmakeover, Streaky getting tossed around by the flea, the flea dragging Kevin around and then sleeping on the plane.

Grade: 3 Stars Out Of 5.

"A Bug's Strife" Highlights: Streaky's plans involving getting him food, Lex Luthor's moment (even if the design is very off from say STAS, the voice is a bit like the normal animated version of him), Iggy growing the bug, "Lex dosen't like caped people flying around his stuff", and the ending.

Grade: 3.5 Stars Out Of 5.

Overall: 3.25 Stars Out Of 5.

Chill out! They've shown a total of two episodes, and you want the entire backstory? It will come with time.

How freaky is it that Lex Luthor looks scarier in a pre-school show than he does in the DCAU?:D

I liked both episodes a lot. I too had questions about how Streaky had gotten powers and when he had learned Krypto's secret and when Krypto and Iggy had become enemies but I just figured they were airing the episodes out of order so I don't mind.

I would like to see Superman again and maybe even Batman and Lois Lane but so far this show is hitting all of the marks. Krypto is VERY cute and him trying to get rid of the flea was hilarious. I love how the bug spray was green (obviously a low dosage of Kryptonite).

I agree that saying the opening titles out loud is a good thing. Little kids can read along and us older folks can learn how the say some of the harder to pronounce names. It win-win! Super Flea: ****. A Bug's Strife: ****. Average: ****.

Despite the really crappy theme song (I can't stand it!) This is a very cute and well done show. It really reminds me of old school Hanna-barberra and has a nice intellegence that suits little kids and adults alike.

Not much to say about today's episodes. Although Iggy's voice was a bit odd to me. It was like Snake from the Simpsons being done as a gay stereotype. But otherwise I'd like to see him again. I really like Streaky's voice. Anyone know who does it?

Chill out! They've shown a total of two episodes, and you want the entire backstory? It will come with time.I read all the synopsises though, and some of the backstories will be shown, but it looks like others won't be, which is what I was mad about.

How freaky is it that Lex Luthor looks scarier in a pre-school show than he does in the DCAU?
Look at it this way: Robin in Teen Titans LOOKS much more badass then in Batman The Animated Series or The New Batman Adventures. In other words, just because the series is skewed for little kids dosen't mean that the designs have to be "kiddier" in a sense.

I too had questions about how Streaky had gotten powers and when he had learned Krypto's secret and when Krypto and Iggy had become enemies but I just figured they were airing the episodes out of order so I don't mind. The episodes ARE airing in production order though. Maybe they were meant to air in a different order airdate wise (some shows do that) but production wise they're in order.

Although Iggy's voice was a bit odd to me. It was like Snake from the Simpsons being done as a gay stereotype.
Scott McNeil does his voice BTW (you may of heard of his word in Inuyasha as Koga and Gundam Wing as Duo). I like Iggy's voice though. Kind of reminds me of Roger from American Dad in a way but with a rougher edge to it. Brian is also doing the voice of Ace The Bathound I believe.

I really like Streaky's voice. Anyone know who does it?Brian Drummound (who of course did the voice of Season 1&2 Vegeta in Dragonball Z and Zechs in Gundam Wing) does Streaky. Just to let you know.

Despite the really crappy theme song (I can't stand it!) This is a very cute and well done show.
I agree, the theme song is dumb. But then again, this is coming from an adult who is willing to watch a cartoon show because it's related to Superman.

Good thing Krypto is funny. I loved the flea (although he shouldn't have been THAT resistant to heat vision, I mean, Krypto and flea are both given powers by the yellow sun, so that should cancel each other out, and it'd be like a normal dog vs. a normal flea). Still, his facial expressions were hilarious.

Luthor looks disgusting, and Ignatious sounds...weird...but I like the idea of Krypto having a rival with access to wacky, hi-tech gadgets.

Now give us Streaky's origin!

Another nice episode..honestly I like the theme song, if only because it's so damn catchy.

In the comics, Streaky was just an oridnary housecat Supergirl found from what I remember. Unless they revealed later he was also from Krypton; I don't know, I don't follow Supergirl much. He gets his powers if he comes near a special kind of Kryptonite.

"Super Flea" was quite hilarious. I liked Krypto's line about "scratching him into the fith dimension." That was great. You don't suppose there's gonna be a Dog Imp in the series named Otpyrk that's from the fith dimension do ya?

Anyway, "A Bug's Stife." It was cool to see Luthor in the show. I heard he was going to be in it but I had forgotten so this was kind of a surprise for me. This is so an old cartoon! I know it really isn't but it seems like a really old show! I love that!

Anyway, as for todays episodes, starting with "Meet The Dog Star Patrol," weren't those characters in "The Legion Of Super Heroes" comics? I liked the characters.

"The Streaky Story" was neat since it showed Streaky's origin but it should have been before "A Bug's Strife," since he's got powers in that episode. But oh well. It's not like Batman: The Animated Series wasn't aired out of order you know what I mean? I'll definitly tune in tomorrow. Chow!

Meet the Dog Stars
Well, we find out there are other animals with super powers out there. Sure, we found out about the flea yesterday, but this seems to be Krypto's first acknowledgement of other animals with super powers, and of super animal villians being out there. This episode was good, but it just seems like it should have been shown before yesterday's episodes.

Rating: 4 stars

The Streaky Story
Well, I guess in this universe Streaky gets his powers by a cloning ray instead of being from Krypton. It makes sense because Streaky was an Earth cat from the beginning in this series, but again this episode should have been shown before yesterday's since Streaky had powers in yesterday's. Also, Streaky really needs to learn to use his powers wisely. Yesterday he tried to get Krypto to use them for food, and today he almost destroys a group of dogs with the powers. I can see alot of trouble occuring for Krypto thanks to Streaky.

Rating: 3.5 stars

Overall average: 3.75 stars

I can't wait to see Diaper Madness tommorow though. The title just is an attention grabber.

This show has an orgianal idea. I didn't know about this show when i saw it for the first time today. It had a lot of good ideas and i think it's good especially Streaky. He's very cute and has a funny personailty. all right so i think he's cool so sue me but i think he makes a great sidekick for krypto, Krypto on the other hand was good too but i didn't understand what was with the Batman dog?

But i think this show could become for hit a Cartoon Network for an original idea and should get some more attention if they the show it in the afternoon. I go to school every day and it airs in the morning darn! But i hope they show it in the afternoons too.

Remember that these episodes do air in production order, so even though it was a mistake to have this episode shown before the last one, it's more of the creator's fault in a way really. Or maybe the show runners could you know air them in should be order, not just production wise.

"Meet The Dog-Stars" was an alright episode. I'm glad that unlike some made for children shows, the kid character (Kevin in this case) Dosen't need to be in EVERY episode. Only the ones that he really should be in. If only Transformers Aramda or Sonic X didn't have that problem. And the Dog Stars defintley reminded me of the Legion of Superpets, the DC Comic Dog group. They're teleporting Krypto in defintley felt like JLU's "Iniation" though. Was that a homage or what?

Best Scenes: Krypto Vrs the Dog Stars, Telling Krypto the dangers of the kitties, Krypto and the Dogstars vrs the mutated cats, Mecinkat's introduction.

Grade: 3.75 Stars Out of 5 Stars.

"The Streaky Story" was also pretty good. I'm glad they had a full episode dedicated to Streaky not only getting superpowers but also knowing about Krypto and becoming friends with him. Interesting how he got the powers. Fairly original in a way. And yeah, looks like he learned the cliche lesson of "With great power comes great responsbility" but still not fully though, which is good. Also makes him different then Krypto. The end of it was kind of eh though.

Best Scenes: Streaky finding out about Krypto, escaping from Andrea's bath, getting the powers from the clone device, using it to get back at the three dogs, Krytpo saving them from the building falling.

Grade: 3.5 Stars Out Of 5 Stars.

Overall: 3.6 Stars Out of 5 Stars.

Not as good as the first two episodes. I found the first episode kind of boring. The second one was much better and answered my questions about Streaky and it's always funny seeing a cat trying to get out of a bath. It just is. *** for the first cartoon and ***1/2 for the second. Average: ***1/2.

I heard that. Kids annoy me at times.

Wow, I'm surprised Krypto actually fought the Dog-Stars. I know it's common to see hero vs. hero stuff in comic books, but on a kid's show? That was kind of neat (although what's up with that fat dog?).

I liked the Streaky part better. He's funny, although it was kind of scarey to see him bully those dogs.

And I was just thinking about this concerning Andrea and the kids in the first episode. If everyone in Metropolis is a jerk, why doesn't Superman move to a town that would appreciate him more?

I can't wait to see Diaper Madness tommorow though. The title just is an attention grabber. In the comics, Streaky never was from Krypton, he was just a normal cat that got superpowers from X-Kryptonite.

Anyway, as for today's episodes;

I really enjoyed "Diaper Madness" quite a bit. It kind of had that "Baby's Day Out" feel to it. And I loved Luthor's line: "I bought...er I mean, I spoke with the mayor and he supports this a thosand percent!" That was great. It was also cool to see Lois Lane there.

With the episode "Feline Fatale" we got to see Mechanicat again. The story was all right, but I think that "Diaper Madness" was the highlight of the morning. It just doesn't get much funnier than a teleporter device in your diaper! Oh, and did Luthor look green in "A Bug's Strife," I don't recall him looking green, but he sure looked green in this episode.

And by the way, I love the flippin' theme song!! It reminds me of old cartoons I watched when I was a kid.

COME ALONG WITH THE SNORKS!!

Yeah, it kind of reminds me of that. Don't ask me why.

Two more quality episodes.

To be honest, "Diaper Madness" reminded me of a Mindy & Buttons skit. It had a few amusing moments.

But, "Feline Fatale" was great. Good to see an actual save-the-day episode. The interplay between Streaky and Delilah was very amusing, and the plot was simply enjoyable.

And, yes, I like the theme song too. :anime:

Diaper Madness/ Feline Fatale

First for Diaper Madness. I'd personally hate to be chasing a baby that had a transporter device in her diaper all around th etown. That's what made this episode enjoyable though. Even when they knew where teh baby sister was, they could never make it in time to "save the day" until she was free falling. Seeing Lex appear showed me that Metropolis is still the place to be for complaints. Seeing his reaction when his building disappeared was golden though, and it's good to know Lex hates Super Dog almost as much as he hates Superman. I give Diaper Madness 4 stars.

Feline Fatale seemed to follow the continuing trend of the first episode starring Krypto, the second episode staring Scratchy/ Scrappy, whatever that cats name is. It was good to see that Mechano Cat is going to be a consistent villian for Krypto, but when did he find out Krypto's secret identity and where he lived? It was also hilarious seeing Scratchy pushed around, but at least his owner is smart enough to know the truth. Remember, One Truth Prevails in this town. I also give Feline Fatale 4 stars, and that menas today's episodes are 4 stars for me.

Hmm. These were some good stories in todays episode. Let's start with "Dog-Gone Kevin," which introduced Red Kryptonite! It's nice to see Red Kryptonite doing something other than making the Kryptonian exposed evil. (like on Smallville) In the comics, and on the Superfriends and other tv shows, Red Kryptonite had a variety of effects on Kryptonians, and I'm glad that it wasn't just making Krypto evil. However, it seems like they should have encountered Green Kryptonite first. But that's just my opinion.

And as for "The Dark Hound Strikes!" written by the great Paul Dini, that was a great story. We got to see Batman's dog, who probably hasn't been seen in comics since the Silver Age. But now here he is! You know what they should have? An episode where Krypto and Bathound get transported to the future somehow and meet the elderly Bruce Wayne's dog, Ace!

Dog Gone Kevin

Kevin and Krypto work together to stop a robber from ruining a party, but will they succeed when red kryptonite has caused them to switch bodies?

This episode showed some creative ingenuity in that we get a boy/ dog crossover. We've all wondered what it would be like to be a specific animal, so Kevin gets to live our dream thanks to red kryptonite. It doesn't look like it was too pleasureable for him (is Kevin afraid of heights, because he kept getting awfully nervous), but he did get to use Krypto's powers. I wonder though, why did they have Krypto in normal form no the paper at the end when it was clearly Superdog that swopped in and caught the robber? I give it 4.5 stars

The Dark Hound Strikes

Krypto must save the local dog show from Joker's hyenas, but he can't do it aone. Will The Dark Hound come in to assist and save the day, or will the hyenas steal the prize?

We get to see our second superhero regular with Krypto (the first being Streaky). I know what some of you are thinking. You're saying what about The Dog Squad? Well, Ace the Bathound is recognized in the closing credits (meaning he's going to be a regular), but the Dog Squad isn't, so we'll get to see Ace more often than not. It was entertaining to see how The Dark Hound is smart like Batman, but he didn't seem to have any nifty gadgets other than his glider. You've got to love how he always said "My partner," but in the end he did admit that Batman was his master. The hyenas were creative. Lex Luthor has an iguana, and now The Joker has hyenas. Do these super villians consider normal pets inferior or something? The hyenas were perfect though because of The Lion King, and you've got to love how they got smashed by their own frisbee. I did notice though that they said The Joker made that frisbee for the dog's, so can they speak to The Joker like Kevin does to Krypto? If so, then we haven't we seen that indication among some of the others. Overall, it was a creative episode that was easily enjoyable. I give it a 4.5

Today's episodes were 4.5 average, but overall this weeks gave a lot of room to build on, so I give the weeks total a 4.

Actually it sounded more like Kouga of the Wolf Demon Tribe of Inuyasha to me then Evolution Wolverine. Because the pitch of the voice is just about the same as Kouga's. Kind of ironic though that he's a dog after one of his characters hated anything related to dogs or dog demons in Inuysaha.

"Diaper Madness" Thoughts-

A fairly decent episode. I guess the pressure you put on the buitton depends on where it will send you or how much it will send or something like that. I think I'm noticing a trend of the first part of the story being more Kevin related and the second part being more Krypto related (except for episode 3 and the pilot obviously). This was basically just a fun little "catch the person with the something" type of story, which is okay sometimes.

Best Parts: Kevin using the teleportation device, the Lex Luthor cameo and the building warping away, Kevin wanting to hold on to the device at the end.

Grade: 3.25 Stars Out of 5 Stars.

"Feline Fatale" Thoughts-

Another good streaky story. As someone noted, at this point Mekincat has found Krypto's idenity and location, which could just be a story not yet released or a plothole. Either way, it dosen't really matter much. This is more of a Streaky story anyhow. Glad Andrea saw that it wasn't really him doing all those evil deeds and such.

Best Moments: Krypto and Streaky's interaction, Mekincat appearing again, Streaky putting the feline behind bars, Streaky liking his new costume at the end.

Grade: 3.5 Stars out of 5 Stars.

Overall: 3.4 Stars Out Of 5 Stars.

"Dog Gone Kevin" Thoughts:

Ah, the old Body switcheroo plot, a cartoon trademark used yet again. I thought we got a fairly decent usage out of this one though. You'd think that being around Kevin though Krypto would know more about acting human. Oh well.

Best Parts: The Red Kryponite Information, Kevin/Krypto trying to fly, Krypto/Kevin chasing the perp, the ending.

Grade: 3 Stars Out of 5.

"The Bat Hound Strikes" Thoughts

IMHO, one of the best segments yet of Krytpo. Ace was just cool as a character and I really liked the team up of him and Krypto. It was WFD (World's Finest Dogs) banding together and stopping the evil joker hyenas. (It's sad when the hyneas are actually more comedic then The Batman's joker. And Ace seems more menacing then The Batman. Oh well). The middle was a bit slow though.

Best Moments: Ace's introduction and interrogating the rat, Krypto and ace chasing after the hyneas and getting off of the saucer, the ending of the two seperating.

Grade: 3.75 Stars Out of 5.

Overall: 3.5 Stars Out of 5.

Well he sounded like Wolverine to me, but maybe that's because I never watched Inuyasha, maybe it's the same for Blackout. Although I could tell there was a difference.

Red kryptonite? Luthor, Star Labs, did I mention how great this show is about bringing in Superman stuff? I hope they use different forms of kryptonite again for weirder situations. This one wasn't bad, but it's the dumbest we've ever seen Krypto. Licking Andrea? Honestly. And Kevin attacking that bear for no reason looked really funny.

Ah, Ace the Bathound, how I love you. And he's a jerk just like Batman! Cool. I like Ace and Krypto's relationship, it's a lot like Batman/Superman, what with Krypto being able to do many things and Ace having to use his brain. I can't wait to see Ace again, maybe fighting Joker fish? I wonder what's in his utility collar, as we didn't see him use it much. I bet Ace has already figured out Krypto's secret identity and keeps kryptonite on him just in case. My biggest complaint was that jump he did off the building...it looked weird.

Diaper Madness: This was kind of boring honestly and although I saw it yesterday I don't remember that much about it other than the transporting baby. ***

Feline Fatale: Lex Luthor! Lois Lane! An archnemesis for Krypto! I thought it was intruiging that they didn't just recycle the whole "cat is rotten when the owner isn't looking and gets the good pet in trouble" routine. A story arc on a show for preschoolers? Sweet! ****.

Dog-Gone Kevin: This really shouldn't have been that great an episode considering the plot but I was laughing pretty much non-stop throughout the whole thing. This is such a cute show. ****.

The Dark Pooch Strikes: Best episode so far. Ace was hilarious, and instead of an imitation of Batman he was a SPOOF of him which is heightened by the fact that Paul Dini wrote the episode. Perfect. Funny and witty. And is it just me or is the animation on this show great? One concern, if the Bat-Embargo means we'll never see the Joker on this show I'll be sad. I loved the hyenas. I'm just waiting for Darkseid's bull terrier to boom tube to Earth. Perfect. *****.

This show not only puts Baby Looney Tunes to shame, it's also making The Batman look like a punk.

I just saw Monday's episode. Even though it was just one show I've seen, I may see more of it in the future. Not bad. A series targeted towards pre-schoolers that is enjoyable.

Is Krypto white? Cuz I swear I saw a cartoon about a super dog and a super cat on Saturday morning on CBBC or CITV.
