Not sure about DVD releases- theoretically it might be difficult to compile a bunch of shorts on one DVD. Not sure how rights work on that sort of thing. But I'm curious as to why Seth MacFarlane's short "Larry and Steve" wasn't included on any of the Family Guy releases; it would fit right in.
But they should release some of these. My favorites have been Kitchen Kassanova, Help!, Short Pfuse, and Larry & Steve.
Considering these shorts have only aired on CN so far I'm moving this to the Cartoon Network Board. I don't think they will be airing on Boomerang anytime soon.
I agree though that a DVD release for some of these cartoons would be nice. Director's commentaries would be a nice touch.

I thought I heard two times it was reported they were going to try to bring back What a Cartoon show or at least rename it the Cartoon Cartoon show, or something like that. Was that true, or was I just dreaming?

For some reason I can't help but think that these vignettes ARE showing in OTHER countries on THEIR versions of "C.N."--'cause it's ALWAYS the case...that MANY hard-to-find toons are ALWAYS broadcast/released on DVD/screened in cinemas EVERYWHERE ELSE BUT in The U.S.A.

The last I heard (last year) is the network is trying to revive the "Cartoon Cartoon" project because they were accepting new pilots from people. I'm unsure if that got scrapped or they're still in the process.
As for a DVD release, I wouldn't count on it. The entire series is a bunch of pilots for regular series. If the network doesn't select them as a series then they kind of end association with that artists. They're not going to go back with all of the artists that didn't get a weekly series and make a DVD of a bunch of one-shot shorts. Legally they'd have to clear everything through many people. Too much of a hassle.

Yah they need all sorts of permissions just to get 1 studios series to DVD, but getting a whole bunch of smaller studios like that? I think that's asking a little too much <.<
But it would be whorth it, I have cut memories of that show, i remember parts of the cartoons but what i do remember is that i loved it
