From Reuters:
France 3 and Canal J Union To End By Q2 2005
Paris (March 31, 2005) -- Production companies France 3 and Canal J have officially ended co-production on all series over internal disputes. Best known for collaborative work, the "Code Lyoko" series, which was designed by Tania Palumbo and Thomas Romain, and is directed by Jérôme Mouscadet.
Code Lyoko mixes 2D and 3D animation to depict parallel worlds of reality and virtual reality. Code Lyoko chronicles the adventures of a group of pupils who are the only ones to know that there is a parallel universe, a virtual world. They are going to fight against what normal people can't see and travel further than anybody has ever imagined. Each episode involves two parallel worlds, with the change in animation style signaling a switch.
"Production was stopped when Antefilms International pulled from the original agreement," says a representative. The popular children's television series is broadcast in the US on Turner Cable's Cartoon Network. The remaining episodes are scheduled for release in September 2005.
----------------------------------
From the rumor I heard is that they only had about 6 episodes done (about half of a season), and the series just ends abruptly. Kind of reminds me of Reboot. At least CN is gonna air what's left.

In one part, I cant trust this until tomorrow. On the other hand, I'm very sad to see this show go down the tube because of differences between others. Xanata is behind all this...where's the tower?

Seriously, I was afraid this would happen. CN handled it like they handled SD Gundam. It's their fault. But still, it's not bloody fair that we don't see a proper end to it before it's over. Now thousands upon thousands will have to make up an ending.
C:L was the first French cartoon I actually enjoyed. It's an injustice that it didn't get some better bloody treatment.
I don't know whether to kill AnteFilms for pulling production or Cartoon Network for treating it with such blatant disrespect.

It would have been nice to see it in the UK. I saw it once in France, and whilst not understanding a word of it, it looked sort of nice :anime:
Note that this still may be an April Fool's thingy...

you know, this news doesn't surprise me at all actually
On the one hand, I do feel bad. I moderate the code lyoko forums, and have done so since January. Before my official moderation, I was vehemently arguing (actually one of the few people on the site) on rumors and what not about the show. One rumor said that CL would be on last september, and I tried my best to squash that rumor.
Then the rumor of CL being on this year, and technically since the forum crash (in january and my beginning to be a moderator) I have been hearing conflicting stories about the future of CL. An unfortunate thing is that when members of the site emailed codelyoko.com, each and every single one of the members got dummy emails stating that CL will return in May with a new season's worth of episodes. I was discussing this with several members of the site, and stuff just didn't add up a single bit, I am sorry to say that. Despite the budget of the series, 26 new episodes in a year AND dubbed and editted for commercials, time crunched, just seemed too good to be true-given what CL has to work with.
Its no secret that the series doesn't have the hugest budget in the universe (if that were so, then it would look much better, and the music would be much better, and more of it). If this is true, and only 6 eps. were produced (which I believe it just might be) then I do feel sorry for the viewers of the site. They visited and visited, and asked and asked, and continuously they were fed misinformation. As a moderator of the site, I think that is the utmost in crumminess, particularly the fans deserve something better. This is not like Invader Zim or other shows that were cancelled, I mean this is a series that had the ability (if directed correctly and age demographic was raised quite a bit) to be something good. It really is a shame to read that from reuters, and I have the heavy hand of giving this information to the CL forums I moderate, and unfortunately, I am pretty sad I have to lay down the heavy, because a lot of people will be angry/sad
Seriously, I was afraid this would happen. CN handled it like they handled SD Gundam. It's their fault. But still, it's not bloody fair that we don't see a proper end to it before it's over. Now thousands upon thousands will have to make up an ending.
Though the treatment of the series (as I have questioned in my initial review of the series) was bad, it was bad on both parties, on CN (personally I figured) and on AnteFilms. I mean there is a lot of behind the scenes stuff that we moderators do discuss a lot of, and it isn't necessarily good about the site we moderate. As of right now, the site is open to so much without an active administrator (the admin will do stuff perhaps maybe once a week at best, never login, and of course other problems). I mean I have to comment, if the company doesn't care about how the forum is being run (and need I remind you, the forum doesn't have PMs, just got BBCODE back, and no off topic forum of general discussion) then how does it care about running the TV series
if this is infact not a rumor that is, if it is FUNNY APRIL FOOL GAG!
However, part of me expected this, based upon the forum
I am sorry for the members ultimately and the fans that stood with it. I think in the beginning CL did get a lot of ratings first time around, however CN played it to death, and could've managed that (and miguzi as a whole) a whole lot better. Again I do question whether or not they want the series to succeed
though the likelihood of the story being not so true, those are my real opinions expressed about the series, CN, and moderation

Also, a Reuters article looks a bit like so:
'Malcolm' Creator Boomer Set at Regency
Fri Apr 1, 2005 1:07 AM ET
By Nellie Andreeva
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Linwood Boomer, creator/executive producer of Fox's "Malcolm in the Middle," has inked a new overall deal with series producer Regency Television, and the network has picked up the veteran comedy for a seventh season.
Under the new pact with Regency, Emmy winner Boomer will focus for the first time since "Malcolm" premiered in 2000 on developing new projects for the company while continuing to run "Malcolm."
"I have such a strong affection for 'Malcolm'; it's not really a job for me. So I want to make sure I don't plan on abandoning it to go do something new," Boomer said Thursday on the phone from the set of "Malcolm," where he was supervising the show's last day of shooting for the new season. "The development I would do would be sort of like having another child as oppose to trading in your kid."
While a seventh-season pickup for "Malcolm" is somewhat of a surprise, given the show's softening ratings the past couple of years, the continuous drought of strong new comedies prompts the networks to stick with older series. It is understood that Regency TV has options on the main cast members of "Malcolm," and all of them, including Frankie Muniz, Jane Kaczmarek and Bryan Cranston, will return next year.
"Malcolm" launched in January 2000 to a solid commercial success and strong critical acclaim, earning a writing Emmy for Boomer and a directing Emmy for Todd Holland for the show's pilot, as well as a Peabody Award. The comedy about the wacky family with four (now five) sons also ushered in an influx of single-camera comedies to network TV, among them Regency TV/20th Century Fox TV's "The Bernie Mac Show."
Boomer plans to be as innovative with his new development. "Zero cameras, I think it is a really good idea for a trend," he quipped about the new direction he wants to take.
Before creating "Malcolm," actor-turned-writer Boomer worked on such series as "Night Court," "Townies" and "3rd Rock From the Sun" and penned/executive produced the pilots "Family Business," "Nice Try" and "Red Dwarf."

I don't believe a word of it, I'll ask the people closest to it but this doesnt ring true at all. I believe that should this be a prank a petition should be started to ban any invloved. I realise that forums are not always true, but this is beyond fun.

That article is bogus. It's not cancelled. 26 episodes are indeed in production and the series will return to Miguzi in August.
Of the assertion that CN "is to blame" and mishandled the series (even though there's nothing to be blamed for since the story is false, I just feel the need to address ignorant comments).....there were 26 episodes that aired from April through October. The ratings started to decline, so the series was rested until the new season was closer to launching. Think of The Sopranos or Six Feet Under....HBO airs episodes for a certain period of time, then rests the series until a new season begins. It's called television. If you're old enough to be on this site, you're old enough to understand that by now. CN has nothing to do with the production schedule of this show. This is a licensed acquisition. They air them when they can get them. If the series stayed on the air, you probably would have *****ed that the same episodes have been on for a year, the ratings would have declined further and it would have been cancelled altogether. THAT would have been a mishandled series.
So, to clarify, nothing was mishandled. The series is healthy and in production. New episodes will come later this year.
You all will hate me and CookieS..but
April Fools!

It was more fun watching all the cynics whine about how unfunny/untrue the joke was rather than actually having people believe it. As for all of you that immediately went to Reuters...get a sense of humor.
Oh yeah, Mildred, I'm still working on the site. Just trying to get some additional things together. I'm thinking of doing a launch without all the pages, since its already been delayed for so long.
