Rock. I love the Grandia series.
Go Enix (still a different company, reguardless of the "merger", IMO).

I just want them to include an artbook with the Stratagy guide...
really their extras they are incluiding with big name games have really improved...
Awesome news, the original Grandia is my favorite RPG of all time. Grandia 2 was meh and don't get me started on Grandia Xtreme. Hopefully, this installment would be more like the first game.

trailer for Grandia III (http://www.gamesarefun.com/gamesdb/media.php?id=766)
This trailer sure did spark my interest after Grandia II let me down. Wow, the original music presented to footage that actually reminded me slightly of the original. That already has me willing to buy a new PS2 (my first was a first-gen breakdown) for this game along with others I've missed out on. I checked out RPGamer for more on this. Here's the story -
"Grandia III's story revolves around a 16 year-old boy named Yuuki. Because he loves the legends of the King of Pilots, Yuuki is building his own airplane that he keeps secret from everyone, including his own mother. His plan is to leave his tranquil little island hometown and fly to the mainland.
While getting the final parts for his plane, Yuuki meets a 16 year-old priestess named Alfeena, who is traveling in search of her missing brother. Optimistic and earnest, Alfeena is the high priestess in charge of hearing and relaying the words of the Holy Beast, which is believed to be the guardian deity of the world. After Yuuki and Alfeena meet, Grandia III takes to the skies with the sword-wielding Yuuki acting as Alfeena's protector, while she searches for her long lost brother, Emerius.
Before he went missing three years ago, Emerius held the rank of high priest; in his absence, his position has since gone to his sister. It seems that Emerius has had a change of heart and is now a cold and unfeeling man that weilds a giant guillotine-like sword called "Godkiller." Emerius now feels that the world of men should be ruled by men instead of dieties. He's trying to be one of those rulers, if not the only one; but it's possible that he might not be doing this according to his own will.
Grandia III is currently set for a summer release in Japan. RPGamer will have continuing coverage as soon as more details surface."
Sounds pretty good to me. It seems to be very Miyazaki-esque strangely enough. If this doesn't confince you then check out the screenshots, boy what a beautiful game.

I'm pretty sure that this has nothing to do with previous Grandia games, but I'd check once it's released to be sure.
Grandia was first released on Sega Saturn, but only in Japan. A few years later it was ported over to the PSX.

Well, I see it occasionally at Gamestops still sealed. Although this just might be in my area.

Why haven't you played the original Grandia? I thought it was generally considered a classic.

Why haven't you played the original Grandia? I thought it was generally considered a classic.I got my Playstation in or around 98'(IIRC) and proceeded to get slews of games for it. I also had the n64 and it's massive release schedule. So it was either due to lack of funds or lack of not neededing to beat a new game, that i glazed over it. it happens sometimes.
Heck i can get Grandia II in quite a few places, I just don't really remember seeing the original, unless ofcourse I didn't look hard enough.

If you can, avoid the PS2 version of Grandia 2 , it's a glitchy port of the DC version (plus, the DC version came with an OST pack in, always fun ^__^)

For It's graphical glitches, Grandia 2 was still an enjoyable game for me. It had some good humor, the battle system was enjoyable, and action and drama aplenty.
and the hero Ryudo had some hilarious lines...
"Fine, I'll just sit over here and think filthy unclean thoughts" (said to a group of nuns)
"I'm sorry that wasn't quite vague enough, could you be less specific?"
"Lollipop Lane kid...Lollipop Lane..."

Visually the game looks very, very good. And from the trailer it would appear that the basics of the battle system are still intact. I'll have to keep an eye out for it when it's localized, since I enjoyed both the first and second games (haven't had the chance to play Xtream yet).
Now where's Lunar III?
Does this have anything to do with grandia or Grandia II? Because then i may have to track thiose titles down.Story wise each of the games are standalones, there aren't any plot connections as far as I can remember. Though it's been a few years since I've played either game.
I loved the first game, but it might be a little harder than the second to track down. And despite some graphics problems on the PS2 port, I still enjoyed the second game. I'd say both games are worth finding and playing at least once.

You can find the original at Amazon.com for less than 30 bucks. I highly suggest getting it. It's my all-time favorite game.
The new Grandia looks beautiful. Hopefully it doesn't follow the cliche "religion is evil" storyline of its predecessor(Grandia II).

I'm so excited for this as well! Grandia had to be most endearing game that perfectly showed joy younth, looking at world with new eyes and discovery. It shame SE lists this as no show for E3. I'm alot more interested in this then FF12 actually!
