PSP: The Launch!!!!!

Okay, it's been 3 days. Enough to, atleast speculate, on how well the PSP is doing. I, myself, haven't gotten one yet, and probably won't until Christmas (when I can actually affored the damn thing), but I want to hear from people who do, already, have a PSP.

But first, my say.

Alot of people have been saying that the PSP is going to kill the DS in sales (by the way, I have a DS), but I've been to my WalMart and they have NO DS's in stock, and, like, 80 PSP's.

I saw the PSP's commercial, which I liked 80x better than DS's "Touch me" commercials, but... It doesn't really tell anyone about it. I mean with the DS commercials it shows that you can play the game with the touch screen. In fact, If I hadn't known better, I'd be confused. Because it shows people playing, what looks like a game, then It shows Resident Evil 2 (movie) on it. Then this guys has headphones in it listening to music. And the NON-hardcore gamer, or the casual person, might be like: "What the f**k? What was that? How much is it?" Then, if they do go to check it out they'll be like, "$250 for that?!? Ripoff! I can get a PS2, Xbox or Gamecube for less then that!" (I heard someone yelling that at Walmart :sweat: ).

And I agree that $250 is too much for a handheld. ($200 at most! :yawn: ) And someone in some other fourm was like, in ALL caps (sounded like a Sony fanboy, if you ask me):

WHO CARES ABOUT THE PRICE!!!!?!!?!?!?! I MEAN YOU CANT PAY 250$ FOR SOMETHING??!!!??!!? IT IS NOT THAT MUCH YOU GUYS ARE JUST CHEAP
I MEAN WHAT OTHER THINGS DO YOU HAVE TO BUY?!?!?!!?

As for some people, paying bills, and taxes, and paying for food to feed their family might be a tincy-bit higher then a PSP.

Anyways, I'm rambling on, what are your thoughts and views?

I have to agree with everything you said death. I am having thoughts of getting a PSP, but I'll wait till christmas. I look here in San Antonio and the PSP is selling, but not sold out selling. Every store I went to there are lots of PSPs in stock and small amounts of DS. I find it funny about the people on gamespot.com waiting for their PSPs because if they lived here they wouldn't have to wait outside.:)

Seriously stop crying about the PSP price. $250 isn't that much. Can't afford it, get a job you freeloader. Save up some money, and dont by crap that you see. People paid $350 for iPods and PSP is $100 less. It is not that much. So stop crying. Can't afford it, got a lot on your place, dont like it, then don't knock it and stop dissing it. Enjoy your kiddie DS but stop all the crying about the PSP.

Can't afford it, get a job you freeloader.Not everyone has a job that can afford them a PSP plus other expenses (gas, home, bills, etc.); for example, my PSP + Games cost me a paycheck and tax returns. Yet, filling up my gas tank ends up the price of a PSP game after a coupon.
People paid $350 for iPods and PSP is $100 less.iPods also have, at least, 29gigs more of space than an PSP, are more established, etc.
Enjoy your kiddie DS but stop all the crying about the PSP.Yes, as I try to get laid in Sprung, I'll stop crying about my PSP.

250 isnt that much to pay for something this good...

And the DS isnt kiddie, only a kid would complain about it like that.

And, on a final note. deathbyanyname, when you make the crack about someone going out and picking up a ps2, gamecube, or xbox, do you really think people are gonna pay all that money to make those portable as well? When the PSP looks BETTER than a ps2 ( IMO )? I dont think so. Besides, you down own one, dont make jokes and things about it if you havent played it or tried it out.

Really? I only noticed the games in the commerical. Is there more than one version of the commercial, or was I just not paying attention? Besides, you can watch movies and play music on the Playstation 2 so I don't think anyone would be surprised to see someone play movies or listen to games on a game system. Actually, it's getting to the point where it's almost EXPECTED that game systems play movies and music.

Anyway, personally, I have no plans at the moment to buy a PSP. The only handheld system I ever bought was one of those old black and white Gameboys that you could see the circuitry inside, and I bought that because I was going on a trip and I already had Gameboy games that I bought for the Super Game Boy that enabled you to play Gameboy games on the Super Nintendo. I have a Gameboy Advance, but I didn't buy it, I won it, and I've never bought any games for it as I don't go on trips very often and would probably rather do other stuff on trips now anyway.

Nevertheless, I'm very interested to see how this handheld war plays out, but the only way I'll have any effect on it though is if they come out with an add on that lets you play PSP or DS games on a home console.
