Sorry if there's already been a thread like this, but I searched and nothing came up.

Anyways, the title is pretty self-explanitory, do you think that CN should bring Adult Swim outside America and into the rest of the world? I for one think it's a must. If CN doesn't, then many people will never see animes like InuYasha and FMA (without importing or downloading of course). Also, adult cartoon comedies are scarse outside the US, with The Simpsons dominating people's opinion as being the funniest cartoon ever. Although Futurama and Family Guy are on Sky One, having AS would give people the opportunity to see ATHF and The Venture Bros (which I've only seen thanks to imports).

So... what does everyone think?

Indeed we should. I remember seeing Adult Swim pop up on the UK Toonami channel's line up for November last year on the Tuner website but it...never happened. We did used get all the AS programs (such as Aqua Teen, Bebop etc) a few years back on the channel CNX, which got replaced for the Tonnami one. I miss that channel.

Well, Adult Swim is broadcast on CN Australia, although I don't know the schedule. Yeah, I think AS should be on other CN networks outside the U.S. I think I read somewhere is AS is supposed to come to Toonami UK during the summer, with the shows being mostly comedy.

Yeah. This is AS Australia (and technically New Zealand)-

Friday:
22:00 - Mission Hill
22:30 - Sealab 2021
22:45 - Harvey Birdman
23:00 - SGC2C
23:15 - ATHF

Saturday:
22:30 - Orphen
23:00 - Trigun

They seem to have lost some time since their beginning.

If it comes to Toonami, then it might actually make me like it somewhat. Although if its mainly comedy, then people in the UK might never see InuYasha or FMA and stuff, which I haven't been able to import and such. If anything, I'd have thought Toonami would have wanted the anime, what with it being an action chanel and such.

CN UK should have AS Comedy, Toonami UK should have AS Action. Any other strategy is stupid.

I'm sure those in the UK would be delighted to see Adult Swim there.

I feel sorry for that donkey... poor thing

But, whilst that strategy would be teh best one, Turner UK probably will screw it up somehow.... probably by having Futurama on Toonami and FG on CN, or something stupid like that. :(

AS is just a block name, that's all. Nothing says when/if we get it we'll get everything the US shows as part of it. I can't imagine SKY are too willing to hand over Futurama and Family Guy.
If AS is successfully brought over, the idea of splitting the shows between CN and Toonami worries me. Assume they air both blocks at the same time?

I can imagine the board meeting with Rupert Murdoch now... :p

But, what shows would the UK AS have? If it wouldn't have FG/Futurama in its comedy section, what other shows would it have? Likewise, would it scrap any of the action shows and such? I can't think of many English cartoons that are appropriate for adult audiences, well, apart from 2DTV.

Nope, can't think of any ether.

I can't see the BBC selling the rights what little comedy they have on BBC3. They're already digging themselves a hole about the stupid license fee.

I think stuff like Monkey Dust and 2DTV wouldn't fit. Despite the name, it seems 'Adult' Swim is pretty much aimed at 16+ aka students. Whilst I'm sure there are people of that demographic which watch both shows (I know I watch 2DTV), they're aimed at an older audience and might in fact alienate viewers. Another factor is that shows like 2DTV rely on current humour- the jokes are centered on the current week's news. Airing repeats would kinda lose most of the humour.
Personally, I'd prefer to see the AS originals first. Give us a good mix of the classic stuff (Sealab, Brak, etc) along with some of the new (Robot Chicken, Venture Brothers).

I'd love for Chicken to be on AS-UK but it ain't happening.

Not after the ratings desaster that was the Comedy hour.

Not after the ratings desaster that was the Comedy hour.Of course the comedy hour will be a disaster when you put The Ripping Friends in it. And as much as I love Home Movies, it really bombed with viewers.
