Hi everyone,

I have a lot of friends who enjoy online role-playing games (stuff like "Ultima"), but usually they are set in a "D&Desque" fantasy world, and fantasy books, games and movies bore me to death. However, I think I would really enjoy playing an online game if it were set in a millieu that interested me. So I started looking into other options and City of Heroes was the game that really caught my eye.

Since I currently have a surplus of funds in my entertainment budget (thanks to a good night at the poker tables in Gulfport), I thought I would give the game a try. I've looked on the web and the game usually gets great reviews from everyone. And it's not too expensive either. But before I go ahead and take the plunge, I thought I would solicit opinions here from people who own/play the game.

So please, if you're a fan, tell me why you think it's worth it. Of course, I'd also be interested in hearing about any negative experiences with the game.

Thanx in advance.

I play City of Heroes and love it. The character creation is very indepth for an MMORPG and the game itself is just good old fun especially if your a fan of comics or super heroes in general. I've also played a few other MMORPGs including World of Warcraft and Everquest I & II. I enjoyed them all and I really got into WoW for awhile, but eventually quit it for CoH which isn't as expansive and big as WoW, but the since of community is better and there is always something going on in the game be it a costume contest in front of city hall or a large mission with 6 of your fellow heroes. Using super power is just so damn fun.

I highly recommend picking the game up if your a fan of the material which you seem to be. If you do get City of Heroes you can find me on the Liberty server under the name Balkor.

I used to play it, it was an awesome game. I ended up not playing it anymore because of schedule problems, but I've never regretted choosing to play the game. It's very fast paced, and it's fun to watch the battles, but it never feels like you're just watching the battles like in most games, thanks to the wide selection of super power. The character customize is probably the star of the game, though. Every character you create really feels like it's YOUR character. The game also makes an emphasis on teamwork and makes getting teams together extremely easy. The game isn't the deepest ever, but it is fun, something most MMORPGs aren't. If you pick it up you won't regret it.
