Got this off Gamespot:
Shadow the Hedgehog dated, detailed
Sega's darker roly-poly gets his own game; Shadow the Hedgehog rolls onto Xboxes, PS2s, and GameCubes this winter.
Like its mysterious protagonist, several major details about Shadow the Hedgehog were kept under wraps. Sega has announced that the Sonic spin-off will be released this winter on the Xbox, GameCube, and PlayStation 2. The title is being developed by Sega Studios USA.

"Since we first introduced him in [2001's] Sonic Adventure 2, we have wanted to feature Shadow in his own game," said Takashi Iizuka, game director, SEGA Studio USA. "We maintained Shadow as a mysterious character and now fans can control his destiny…"
In Shadow the Hedgehog, gamers will be able to decide whether Shadow is portrayed as hero or villain. Depending on the paths players choose, Shadow's backstory will differ and culminate in one of the multiple endings.
The game features the speedy enigma shooting and racing his way through more than 50 missions. While discovering the truth behind his past, Shadow will be stuck in a battle between aliens, the G.U.N. army, and the evil Dr. Eggman.
Why are they involving Eggman again? I was hoping they would think up another villain for Shadow. Still don't know what to think of this game at this point.

Actually, the news of multiple endings gives me new hope for this game. I guess we'll have to wait and see though.

Since when did Sonic games deal with clones, firearms, and weird angst ridden spin-offs? Roll with it, man.

Now if Fang the Sniper (AKA Nack) was inserted into his game as some sort of foe, I'd be more interested. Still need to see more before i'm convinced it'll be any good though.

Yeah, IMO this is a game that should have been made for Nack (especially if you're using a gun.) Anyway, I think multiple endings sound good and it will be interesting to see if Sega's US studios can bring out a good game. I think they need to step it up in regards to graphics though.
I will need to see more clips before I can give a pretty prediction for the game.

Ah, wow. Things are starting to look up. There's a bit more than just gun shooting. First thing I see is that there are a bunch of different guns. I didn't count, but there had to be 5 or 6. Next, Shadow was weilding a sword in a few of the shots. So this means we'll have multiple weapon types as well. Another was the Chaos Control. Still need more details on that one, but you get to see it from Shadow's view point rather than 3rd person, which looks awesome. Last thing was of course, the Sonic Battle-esque Chaos powers. Reminds me of the Sonic Heroes Team Attacks, since it looks like it will work in the same way. I just hope there will be more powers to utilize rather than just that one explosion technique.
Damn! He's packing heat? That is both totally original and totally phresh at the same time! Shadow is EXTREME TO THE MAX!!!
Hint: sar + casm = looks like crap.
is this a spinoff from when sonic when to another dimension in the archie comics?
why didnt they make a tails or knuckles standalone game? oh well...

Eh, that new trailer didn't put much more hope into my heart for this. A lot of the footage was the same.

Seeing more of the game makes me wish even further that the gun is optional. They seem to have improved greatly ont he character model and run-cycle animation (even though his feet were going thru the floor, but they have months to fix that)
The weaponry still bugs me tho, it seems supefluous, it doens't NEED to be there. The sword looked cool, but still it looked out of place.

Sorry for double post, but this didn't really warrant a new thread.
Sonic HQ reports (http://www.sonichq.org/newsite/news/index.php/id.1300) new info. Something that makes me happy is the mention of the weapons as optional and seasonsed Sonic players can play this game the way they're used to. Thank you.
'Sega Studios USA', eh?
*raises eyebrow*
Oh, now it's all starting to make sense as to why Shadz has the gun.

When Shadow fell to Earth at the end of SA2B I think it was something that had to do with him being taken care of by aliens... I forget.

In the comics. :P We don't know WHAT happened in the games, or whether or not the Shadow in Sonic Heroes & Sonic Battle (and now his own game) is the same one from Sonic Adventure 2.

I think it's obviously been proven that he is the real Shadow. The beginning of the final level he makes a comment about space plus even if they're robots, Omega made perfectly clear at the ending of Team Dark's story that the original needs to exist for any form of cloning to happen.
They tried that once. It didn't work.
Because Tails' solo outings were sucky Game Gear games and Knuckles' solo outing required a peripheral no-one could make bloody work properly.

The Tails' game was not a bad concept at all but played a little jerky and got boring. Maybe if they fixed it up a bit?
I finally got to play through all of Knuckles' Chaotix, but yeah it was released on a horrible system (overall the game more than likely could have been done on Genesis, only things in question are the bigger size and the off-screen feature, which the latter was USELESS.) Shadow has a bigger advantage over the Knuckles and Tails games because they're actually putting it on every system so everybody and their grandmas have access to it if they wanted it (well except the portable market... so far.)
The news of the guns being optional sounds cool, I hope it holds true, but yeah I'm gonna have to wait till E3 (in 2 weeks?) for more details on the title, I hope things improve more.
