View Full Version : Super Smash Bros. 3?

Will it ever happen? I'm predicting it will be a launch title for the Revolution. It seems like a sensible thing to do really. I mean Smash Bros. Melee is probably still the best selling title for the GC. (Though it's kinda sad when you think about it)
Somebody told me Nintendo said there would be no SSB3. But I doubt they ever said that.

There surely will be another Smash Bros. I think a DS game would be a good idea but a title on the Revolution is a given.

Well, since everyone is convinced that another SSB game is a lock (even though I'm not), I guess I'll play along.
Characters I'd like to see - Pit, Wario, Lance, Diddy Kong, Captain Olimar, KK Slider, Balloon Fighter, a Koopa Kid (probably Morton), Sain and/or Kent, and possibly Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, and Tails.
As much as I would love to see Geno, it isn't gunna happen. Geno = Square.

Heck, they could port the N64 version of Smash Bros. to the DS, just tossing in the wireless multiplayer, and it would sell like hotcakes.

Ah but Square and Nintendo get along just fine these days. In which case I'd love to see Crono but that'll never happen.
Koopa Kids are dead to Nintendo. The best you'll get is Bowser Jr. (which is pointless I might add).
I would like to see Nintendo get the rights to use characters from their recent partners who have notable characters. Pac Man from Namco, Sonic from SEGA, Mega Man from Capcom, Bomberman from Hudson, etc. Giving the game more appeal outside of the Nintendo character spectrum. However this isn't neccessary as Nintendo has plenty of unused characters as it is.
I'd drop Pichu and Dr. Mario first off. And modifiy Kid Link so he can use masks to change his style of fighting, modifiy Ganondorf so his physical attacks include at least one sword attack and so his special attacks aren't directly related to Captain Falcons. I'd also slightly modify Roy's special attacks but keep his physical attacks about the same and keep Falco the same as he is but modify Fox so that he can use his staff from SFA (as there are no staff weilding characters in SSB thus far).
The must have additions IMO are Wario, Diddy Kong, Pit, Lynn (or another Fire Emblem character), King Dedede, and at least one more EB and F-Zero character so Cap'n and Ness aren't lonely anymore. Though I'd never expect to see them... I would like to see Mike Jones and Zoda from StarTropics. And other random additions that would be fun IMO are King K. Rool, Slippy Toad, Meta Knight, Little Mac and Mach Rider.

Heck yeah it would. I'd like to see a 2D SSB game for the DS but I'd like that as well. They could throw in a few characters from SSB:M to make things more interesting... MewTwo, Mr. Game & Watch, Marth, Ice Climber, etc as well as at least 2 exclusives... I'm thinking Warior and Pit.

Oh, lordy, not ANOTHER "think up SSB characters" discussion.
I'm personally pretty sure that we'll see a new SSB game within the first year of the Revolution's launch. Nintendo may often make decisions that I find asinine, but they'd have to be completely braindead not to make a 3rd game in the series, especially considering that Melee is the best-selling GCN game ever.

Weren't they in Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga?
As for Smash Bros., I think there will be another one, but I hope they wait until the Revolution to release a new console version. Melee still holds up just fine on the GC.

Revolution Smash Bros. is a given. DS Smash Bros. would be awesome, if they did it. They would need to port over the N64 engine, but add in new characters(some exclusive, to make it more worthy), and new stages (also some exclusive to make it more worhy). Oh, and online...it would NEED online. :D
Characters I'd like to see - ....Captain Olimar, KK Slider, Sain and/or Kent...Captain Olimar- Now this is an interesting one. He would attack with a Pikmin army, right? Heh, too awesome to be true.
KK Slider- Music attacks? Guitar swinging? Howling???
Sain/Kent- I don't see this working well. Y'know...they ride horses. It would be too weird with double jumping horses and the like O_o. I know, they can be off of their horses for a change, but they're supposed to be cavaliers! :p
Okay, my own suggestions.
Wario, Waluigi, Diddy, Bowser Jr, Daisy, Baby Mario...basically anyone from Double Dash that isn't already in Melee. These are our givens.
Now for the main list:
King Boo(Not as much of a given), Lyn, Eliwood, Hector, any other Fire Emblem dude, Link w/ Four Sword, Metaknight, Krystal (w/ staff) OR give Fox staff moves, Wolf, Ganon OR give Ganondorf transformation abilities (ALA Zelda), Ganondorf w/ sword, Giga Bowser, King Dedede, Samurai Goroh...
Other company stuff:
Lloyd, Kratos, any other Symphonia character, Sonic, Knuckles, Shadow, any other Sonic character, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Viewtiful Joe...
I can definatly see a new SSB in the future. The last two have been such a huge success, I don't see why they WOULDN'T make a new one.
I'm not going to bother saying who I want to see in it since these topics have been done a million times already, but I'd like to see less "clone" characters. (Example: Falco was similar to Fox, Dr. Mario was similar to Mario, Gannondorf was similar to Captain Falcon, etc.)

I'm saying it right now. Remember this post at E3.
"Super Smash Bros. Revolution will be a Nintendo Revolution launch title with full online capabilities."
I'd wager money on it. HAL hasn't been up to anything public for a while, have they?

Make it upgradeable, and then get EVERY CHARACTER FROM EVERYTHING EVER to download as updates...and when I say every character I mean:
All N's characters
Rare's characters
Sega's characters
Shonen Jump's characters
Heck, get Charles Dickens's characters while your at it. Scrooge v. Jigglypuff!
Seriously, though, an online SSBM would be a GENIUS idea and probably a killer app at launch.

Ok... that online play idea sounds good, but look at your fight! Come on,
JIGGLYPUFF?!?!?!??! How about Evil the Chimpanzee?! That'd be hilarious!
If Nintendo does online Smash Bros., that'll DEFINANTLY save them from too much innovation, catch up to Sony and Microsoft, and I can laugh at those greasy jocks at my school! Just, I want Wario Ware, not more Pokemon. Club Sugar would be an awesome arena!

Ahh, Smash Brothers - the franchise which sparks the most gamer dreams and fantasies than any other. While I'd be simply happy with the simple notion of more characters, more levels, more indepth trophies, more indepth Adventure mode, etc - there are a few things I'd like to see different in the next one.
First off, some special, 'unbalanced' characters (those which are unfairly more powerful than the norm) for boss fights and 2/3 on 1 VS battles. Switch and upgrade Mewtwo, Bowser (or at least Giga Bowser) and Ganon into this category and add crazies like Andross, Master Hand (with a retooled control scheme), and Giygas, and simply disable them in tourament battles or normal matches. There's just something more fun about teaming up forces against one big monster, and it could do villains like Ganon justice in terms of power.
One level I'd enjoy is a nearly completely enclosed level with only a small hole at the top side, so the only way to beat your opponent is to bash their strength to over 500% and let them richochet off the walls until they bounce out of there. I dunno, it just sounded like a fun idea :p
And Punch-Out referenes, trophies, or characters! What up with the continued absence from the Smash Bros., yo?
I didn't mind the 'clone' characters, but Ganondorf as a retooled Falcon? I'm with Hyper Sensei - lets give Ganondorf his due. Perhaps a Wind Waker version of him?
And, of course, add one more wish for non-Nintendo characters like Sonic. :D

Now that Masahiro Sakurai has left Hal, i'm really not looking foward to another Smash Bros. game
Whatever they do, make Master Hand and Giga Bowser playable characters, even if you have to unlock EVERYTHING to get them.

Master Hand and Giga Bowser would be nice, but incredibly cheap. I definitely see SSB3 on the horizon for the Revolution. Miyamoto-san said that Mario and Sonic would be in a game together, so there's every chance that this'll be the game for them (although I'm not the most enthusiastic on that front and stuff). If Nintendo gets rid of Pichu and adds in a different Pokemon like Rukario or something (Diamond/Pearl will probably have been released by then), then I'll be happy, as I hated Pichu in SSBM.
As for new characters, well, Rukario on the Pokemon front, Olimarr, King Boo, Wario, and... MS. PACMAN! :D Well, I can dream!
Master Hand and Giga Bowser would be nice, but incredibly cheap.
But what if you have a fight between two Giga Bowsers (or even four), how would it be cheap then? Or what if one player wants the challenge of trying to beat multiple Giga Bowsers as a regular characters? Of course you could do all these things with an Action Replay but it would be nice to be able to do them without a game enhancer (or have to avoid Giga Bowser winning because it freezes the game).
Mr Cat Dog

Obviously if they were against other Giga Bowsers/Master Hands then it wouldn't be cheap at all. In fact, it'd be rather interesting.
But Pikachu against Master Hand? Who can say that isn't cheap? :p

I could kick anyone's ass with Pikachu against Master Hand. Honestly, I could. He is one of my bests, along with Marth, Ness, Roy, Zelda/Sheik, and Kirby.

LOL can you imagine being able to have duel monster cards as items you use in the game. They'd be as cheap as the poke balls. and the top cards that would get you smashed are as followed
Mirror Force
Jinzo
Dark Magician
Blue Eyes
Yata Garasu
Ring of Destrucion
All the God Cards....
I'm gettin nauseous thinkin about it.

Naw, as long as they balance the Pokemon with the rest of the franchises it guarantees there is something for every one. The Pokeballs bring a lot of variety to the possible items as well.

I can't wait for SSB 3 (it's gonna be a Rev launch title, right?).
Anyways, put me in the crowd of wanting more Fire Emblem characters.
Leave in Marth and Roy. Add Lyn from FE GBA. Then add some new characters from either the GC version or the new GBA. Publicity does wonders. :p

Pikachu is also one of my best characters, and is one of the easiest to beat Master Hand in my opinion.

I played SSB:M today. It's still a lot of fun. I guess it came out in 2001. Sheesh... 4 years old and its still awesome. Though... the N64 game is still fun as well if you can't play Melee that is. It's high time we have another SSB game. The DS would be a good choice until the Revolution comes out.

Super Smash Bros Melee is fun. Same with the first one. I used to use Pikachu a lot, then the whole Pokemon thing went out of style, so I switched to Yoshi. I'm pretty good with him!
But I still want the Looney Tunes over anything else on the new version!
Especially... You guessed it... Daffy Duck!:daffy:

They should put some punch out characters in the game like super mahco man,the old guy whit that stick and dasly. But keep the baby characters out of the game.
...what's the difference?I, for one, hated Melee. It overcomplicated the game. With the original, you could teach someone how to play in about 10 seconds. With melee, you need to sit and explain things like the two shields and stuff.
Not true. The art of Melee is just to hit buttons. The two shields make no difference. I figured out how to play in about 5 seconds.
