Wow. Thought this was airing next month, but looks like a sneak peak is airing...Right now.

Anywho, seen the first part, gonna watch part 2 later.

-Not bad, for a kids show. Not too dumbed down. No annoyong voices yet. Decent Voice acting. Nice animation
-Krypto seems to have left Krypton first, but Supes beat him to Earth
-Speaking of supes, big Copout for not seeing them both at the same time: "Superman goes into space". Yeesh

Overall, not bad. Could a mod do thier magic and have this show up in the DC board as well??

By the way: Encore at 11:30, according to CN's Grid

I really loved this! This was great! I was hoping I'd like it. It wasn't as kiddish as I thought it would be. I was afraid there was gonna be some singing or something. I'm glad to see otherwise. The show reminds me of the Pound Puppies cartoon I used to watch as a kid in the '80s. I can't tell you how cool it is to actually get to see an old fashioned cartoon again.

And Superman? His design was pretty neat. He looked a lot like the other Supermans in animation but a little cartoonier. Anyway, it was an awesome show. Except I thought that Streaky was Supergirl's cat as establised in "Unity." Oh well...not like that's a big deal. There's more cat lookalikes in the world then there are human lookalikes.

All in all, it was really neat. And the sad thing is, I think I enjoyed this more then any episode of "The Batman."

Ok, I'll stop.

OK, saw part 2.
So Superman is gonna show up every so often. Huh. Ok, that works.

Definately liked this one. Glad Paul Dini was involved: he probably made a world a difference between this fun romp and a ubrekiddiefied show I was expecting it to be.

I started to have some doubts, but in the end, it turned out all right. I think I'll start liking Krypto as one of my new fav. DC cartoons.

Copy/paste job from the UK thread...

So, I caught the first episode of Krypto The Superdog today, and it was alright. Not as idiotic as some kids shows, and I am a little bit older than 5 and still found it reasonably entertaining. It even had a few good little laughs, and although the animation was nothing special, it does its job, and the show was bright, clean, colorful, and there wasn't a single bad CGI missile, space station or vehicle in sight.

My favorite part was Krypto's dog house that leads to the underground spaceship/secret lair. I always wanted one of those as a kid, minus the dog house, so that was quite cool, and it was similar to the underground hide-out Silver Age Superboy used to have.

I was susprised to see Superman actually show up in this episode. They kind of teased it halfway through when a Superman silouette flew across the night sky, and I thought that would be it, but I guess they needed him to sign off on Krypto, so he could stay with the kid.

As a kids show, this seemed like solid stuff, and I might just tune in for another episode this weekend.

That was great! Paul Dini's involvement probably paved the way for lots of visual references to Superman: The Animated Series. Speaking of which, the final scene with Superman, (where he realizes that Krypto and his pictures were his last links to Krypton,) was truly touching. Ha ha, and Andrea's name is pronounced An- DRAY-Uh, reference to Andrea Romano, (and, backhandidly, to Andrea Beaumont.)

Too Bad, I can't catch this show because, I go to school in the morning, and from my understanding, the show airs during Cartoon Network's morning block.

The music reminded me of the cartoons I watched when I was a little kid back in the '80s. It was bright and cheerful. The animation and the classic looking animation was something I really enjoyed. The characters were to me quite likeable. How can you not like Krypto? He's Superman's dog for crying out load. And Kevin reminds me of me when I was 7. Nobody wanted to play with me because I was "the new kid." I moved to the big city and that's what it reminded me of. And not that I'm trying to sound like my mom, but the characters were very cute. I haven't seen a cartoon with this quality in years. Like I said it was very similar to the Pound Puppies. All in all, it's better than "The Batman." I'm not gonna say it's better than the other DC Animated shows, but for what it is. It's very, very good. My hat's off to Alan and Paul.

I have a feeling Krypto isn't the problem, Ace and Streaky will be.

Anyway, I only caught the last five minutes or so because my guide said it was on at 12, not 11:30. Drat. I'll pay more attention next time.

It's times like these I wish I had a kid to watch this kind of stuff with.

Paul Dini must've been stuck in the 80's since this show has been giving me those familar campy vibes. One of the biggest feelings for this was the introduction for Kevin. Being bulley with the frisbee didn't feel right for an opening moment to show that his is very lonely and can't defend himself making Krypto the necessary companion for Kevin. This moment would've been captured better if he was going to be jumped for milk money or something along that matter. More towards the matter of any Superman or Batman stories he wrote in the past.

Kevin's parents look like they graduated out of college a couple of years ago. Sure they're trying to look "hip" but my first impression was a big brother and sister. That is great that they're being more realistic by going for a younger set of parents in the real world, but things like this don't feel right in a kids cartoon. The crew probably should change their outfits a little. Make them look 30.

A ladder leading to the ship underground is believabl, but will it be covered? This could lead into some plot holes if Kevin's parents ever happened to go look inside the dog house.

The whole idea about Superman being missing with the "look I'm in space and I told the press" didn't feel right either. You forget about the Watchtower and the facts that almost nobody ever knows when he goes in space to fight someone or help out with something. Plus that reporter could've atleast saved the two guys on the boat, then the animals would've been saved by Krypto. Makes better sense to me if the animals would've been forgotten about showing more emotions put into Krypto's character when he was going to save them.

Outside of all of this from the pilot, the show looks great and has some high hopes of sucess.

Not bad for a kid show. Not something I'd probably ever want to watch again, but I can see kids enjoying it a lot, so I guess they achieved their goal.

Well, if it gets kids watching, maybe they'll someday be interested in "Justice Guild: the Animated Series"/"The Superman"/"Wonder Woman: The Animated Series"/"The NEW New Batman Adventures"/whatever comes down the pike in the future, and get interested in the rest of the DC superhero pantheon.

More importantly, if there's a comic of this show, it might give younger kids something else to read (along with the other animated comics), and they might be more inclined to someday start buying "regular" comics as well. Plus, I'll have something to actually be able to give to my niece to read/look at the pictures in... :-)

Finally, as for how to "fan-wank" the super-critters into the DCAU... hmmm.. how about:

Streaky: a common name for cats in the DCAU's United States, latched onto by Supergirl *and* whoever it is this show's Streaky is staying with...

Ace: Batman adopted this one first, and (decades from now, well after this Ace's death) decided to name the "Batman Beyond" Ace after his old dog...

Uh, how's that? :-)

Sitting down to watch this with my father, I have to say I really enjoyed this cartoon. Sure, it's not comic genius like Animaniacs or tightly scripted drama like Batman: TAS, but it's enjoyable. My father noticed the retro sound effects, I noticed the return of talking animals and the Jetsons-esque look to some of the stuff. There were quite a few funny moments, especially involving the squirell and some of the banter of the animals. Superman's cameo (looking half-Superfriends-ish; half Bruce Timm-ish) was a nice touch too. I'll be watching this series when I get the chance! :anime:

This WAS neat. The designs really animated well (Matt Wilson was wrong) and the whole show was cute. I want a Krypto plushie now. I liked the underground tunnel from the doghouse to the ship. Krypto as a puppy was VERY cute.

I liked Superman's cameo and he DID look and act like the DCAU version so that might be a clue. I think it would be better to connect this show with an alternate universe story (along with Teen Titans and The Batman) on Justice League Unlimited. They could even crossover Superfriends!

A really cute cartoon with an enjoyably bad theme song. I'll be taping this every day. ****.

Well, this episode was enjoyable, but it'll take some time to get used to the old style animation again. I enjoyed it in the past, so I'm sure I'll enjoy it again. As for the script, you could tell it was aimed at kids, but at the same time it was enjoyable for all audiences. I give it a 3, but if it was out of 10, then it would have been a 7.

I think there was an interview that classfied this as outside the regular DCAU cannon. And also outside of TT and TB's cannon as well. Which would explain why they said Superman was the "only hero" in the story besides Krypto.

I have to say this was fairly enjoyable for a kids show. I mean it dosen't lower itself down to the kiddy level like Baby Looney Tunes does at least, which is good. Sure, it has it's moments of overkid simplified simplicity (giving out the ONE translator, conveintantly turning on the news, Kyrpto just whizzing by the newscasters and such) but what can you do? It does feel like a throwback to a simplier time, which is good in a way. This will be a good show to go against Nickeledoen's kid shows.

Best Moments: The pictures that Superman drew of Krypto and stuff, Krypto moving the ship away and scarring the squirrel, Kevin figuring out about Krypto and giving a plasuable reason to make it a secret (you think you're parents would let you keep a superpowered dog espically if it went around fighting crime), the talking animals, "Wow! All you had to do was put on a cape and they thought you were an entirley different dog!" (It's the wonderment in Kevin's voice, like saying "I can't believe that worked"), Superman's cameo.

Grade: 3 Stars Out Of 5 Stars.

Pretty good for a kids show, and I guessed it was non-canon when they said Superman was the only hero who could save the ship (What with Wonder Woman around and all.) The only problem I have is the theme song.. it's so horribly catchy.

Kryptoooo! The super dog!
Kryptoooo! Ruff ruff and away!

Yes, you can't be a good underground hideout, and the dog-house entrance was inspired. I like the idea that Kevin has to go into the doghouse to reach the ship. If his parents ever caught him doing that they would think he was out of his mind.:D

Am I the only one who thinks the song is a bad rip-off of the 90s Fantastic Four theme song?I'd have to hear it again. I only caught the second half of it. I was racing to get in a new tape once I saw it was on.

Loved it. I know the boys were going for an old school feel and I gotta say I loved the "classic" sound effects. The whooshing rockets, the beeping computers, the bionic man sound effect. While the DCAU has made it a point to NOT use the stock sound-effect library, here it's being used in tribute, and I dig it. Also when one duck called the other "Gertie" it struck a chord...I knew it was a reference to something, I just wasn't sure what. A quick google search revealed that the duck in "Journey To The Center Of The Earth" was named Gertrude, in the movie and the Filmation series. Anyhoo, apart from the minutia I felt it was a fun, pleasant romp, and it didn't hurt that my three-year old son loved it. So cool to have Krypto interacting with and rescuing other animals. Anyway, definately looking forward to future episodes.

Anyway, I thought it was good. Not as "kiddie" as I thought it would be.

Nice Supes cameo. Interestingly, it seems that that was the only time he was even in Metropolis, because future eps all make it seem like Krypto is the only hero around to save the day! :p

Well, keep in mind that this show is (obviously) not in the same continuity/universe/whatever as S:TAS, B:TAS, BB, JLU, etc. In other words, the show is seperate from the shows with Daly's Superman and Conroy's Batman, so different voices makes sense.
