Other revisions:
March 27th: Robot Chicken is airing episode #11 instead of "Plastic Buffet." The episode title is cut off though. "Vegetable F".. Vegetable Farm? Fort? Frank?
April 10th: Robot Chicken #1: The Deep End.
April 17th: Robot Chicken #12: "S&M Presents" (cut off), Tom Goes to the Mayor #6: "Porcelain Birds"
April 24th: Robot Chicken #13: "Badunkadun", Tom Goes to the Mayor #7: "Vehicular Manslaughter", Venture Bros #13: Trial of the Monarch (CN originally had Spider Skull Island airing BEFORE Trial, mistakenly).
May 1st: Robot Chicken #14: "Toy Meets" (cut off), Tom Goes to the Mayor #8: "Bo" (cut off)

It's good that The Popeye Show is coming back to Cartoon Network, hopefully featuring the original black and white cartoons. (I never particularly cared for the "colorized" Popeyes on Boomerang.)
I just wish it could be on Boomerang, too, since ToonHeads is also coming to the Boomerang channel.

CN airing all 26 episodes of The Bob Clampett Show is HUGE news. The show hasn't been on the air for 3 years and is about as rare as rare cartoon shows get (next to Popeye of course), with NON-colorized uncut cartoons and well-constructed historical information (a contrast to Toon Heads).
Mike Lazzo was a big part in both Clampett and Popeye so it's no suprise that these would lead off the major rotation. I wonder if Tex Avery Show will replace Popeye since it's the only other show with "themed" episodes (aka Episode 1, Episode 2, rather than randomly selected shorts).

So, that's part of Adult Swim?
Well, I guess they figured out that adults watch black-and-white cartoons, too. I wonder what WS is gonna cook up for these shows. Some specialized bumpers, or the bumpers (some of) the shows came with?
Now, where's Cartoon Network when you need it?

Awesome. Toonheads was far and away my favorite classic toon show. (Now all I have to do is wake up at 5:30 in the morning to watch it... :p)

Wonder if they'll actually use a disclaimer for these shows. I'm just surprised that they're expanding adult swim to air them.
Hey, as long as they end up showing some toonheads, I'm happy. That beats Captain Planet anyday. Atleast there will be something worth watching when I have to get up at 5:30 AM.

I must say, it certainly is better than having Time Squad and Captain Planet repeat to death.
But, the last thing I'd expect is to see classic cartoons on Adult Swim, of all places! I mean, with such a developed reputation of aiming toward an audience that appreciates comedy and anime action, the last thing... I'm reiterating. I'll stop.

Wow, I certainly didn't expect this. But, I guess they figure they're not going to get any ratings at 5 in the morning anyway so they might as well please the fans of classic cartoons that would be willing to get up that early to watch them.

I love Toonheads, gonna get my tv tuner and back em up incase CN pulls the plug again, and then I gonna sit back and watch again and again and again. Alright I gonna post this in the Boomerang forum, or would it be easier for a mod to link em. I suppose it would be appropriate.

Unexpected but very welcome news. It'll be nice to see more classic cartoons on CN once again.

this is great news :) a good reason to get up extra early! I was really liking Popeye when it was airing on AS last year and now its back with some more classic friends :anime:
Ah interesting news that certainly is. Makes me want to find some way to watch it every now and then. At least it's on the air.

Adult Swim's stock is rising in my eyes.
Although if I recall, last time they announced Popeye they didn't deliver.
But that was a different slot, different situation.
This comes on at 4:00 AM here, but I'll probably be recording these since I haven't seen them in so long.

That's awesome, but I'm never up that early unless I've stayed up all night. I guess it's time for me to learn how to program my VCR.

Awesome news! I've always loved the Bob Clampett Show & Toonheads.

Seeing as it's at an hour no one really watches, this does seem like a smart move.

Adult Swim could make the 5-6 hour a showcase for all the classic B&W and early color cartoons that otherwise will never see the light of TV again. Like the old Looney Tunes of the 30s and 40s. Irreverent, politically incorrect, but funny as hell, especially to fans of that era who get all the references to things like WPA Project or meatless Tuesdays. Or like the original B&W Betty Boop cartoons with their sly sexy humor. (^_*)

Wow, this is super great. I recently watched the Toonheads episode that was on one of the Looney Tunes Golden Collections DVDs, and it made me realize how much I missed that show.
SUPERB. Being able to see Popeye again is similarly wunderbar.

I would rather they just simply air Looney Tunes, or Space Ghost for that matter.

They did deliver. They said it was a limited engagement and it was. It was to celebrate Popeye's 75th anniversary.

I have not heard anything about Toon Heads for a long time, wasn't it last on regularly about three years ago or so?
It's times like these that make me thankful I have DVR. :D
I was just thinking a while ago about how cool it would be to have classic stuff back on CN again - and I mean the really rare stuff.
Having the B&W Popeyes back is all I need to make me happy. :D

As the old Popeye cartoons may never see a release on a Home viewing Format, much less DVD (Unless Warner and KFS can come to "Terms"), I'm definately motivated to record each and every episode of the Popeye show.
The Bob Clampett Show also seems like a fun Watch, or until more of Clampett's work is included on the LTGC sets (11 Have been released already, and Clampett didn't make as many cartoons as, say, Chuck Jones)
Why can't AS just drop the damn rerun of the block and add all this at 2 AM.

Why can't AS just drop the damn rerun of the block and add all this at 2 AM. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say ratings. Classic animation seems to clash with the current vibe AS has got going, but who knows, if this new hour prooves profitable we might see it move up, or people will hate it and it will fade into obscurity. Neither seems that likely because it's on so early I doubt anyone will care except for a few diehard fans.

Well... not really what I was expecting but hey at least it isn't a third airing of Futurama and Family Guy or the return of the Ripping Friends. I have nothing against the classics (you never know, I might catch them if I'm up) but I guess I let the idea of Space Ghost C2C and the possibility of more anime get me overly excited. That's okay, at least classics WILL exist somewhere on CN six nights a week. :D
Yay for more classics. I'm still hoping Adult Swim will get Friday this year, that'd make me happy.

I hope not, then the reject shows will have nowhere to go.You got a good point there. I guess I'm just getting into the "I need my once a week Space Ghost fill" moods. Please AS, put Space Ghost somwhere!!
P.S. This may be pushing it, but if we're talking about classic animation on the end of Adult Swim, is there a possibility for the Flintstones? I don't get Boomerang and I miss that show!

My idea is they should have the new hour be for Worshipping Zorak. They could have propaganda bumpers for Zorak as the supreme ruler.
5.00 Space Ghost Coast To Coast
5.15 Brak Show
5.30 Cartoon Planet
If they want to stick with classics, then at least air The Tex-Avery Show because that's sick and awesome, perfect for Adult Swim.
It's an animated remake of The Beverly Hillbillies, right? Never really cared for that show, personally.Uh, no.
"The Bob Clampett Show" was a Looney Tunes compilation block that showed 3 cartoons directed by Bob Clampett, a Looney Tunes director. Every cartoon shown was completely uncut (yes, including suicidal and blackface gags, as well as the ultra-rare "Bacall to Arms") and there was informative material shown as bumpers. Clips from "Beany & Cecil" were ocassionally shown too.
"Clampett Show" is also better than "The Tex Avery Show", since the cartoons in that show were not uncut.
Some Bob Clampett classics include "Tortoise Wins by a Hare", "The Great Piggy Bank Robbery", "The Big Snooze", "Baby Bottleneck", "Book Revue" and "Kitty Kornered".

For some reason I was thinking they cut the previous run short, but thinking about it, I didn't have any idea how long they were going to run it in the first place, so let me offer a "never mind" on the subject.
I hope Popeye does ok at it's new slot.
I guess if it takes Lazzo and the power of the [AS] block to get these on the air, more power to them.

I haven't gone to bed any earlier than 4 am in many years, so I'll catch this easily. I miss all this good old stuff, and I enjoy all those gags that normally get cut out (I'll be happiest as long as they air the Popeye where he shoots and kills Shorty in the end)
Uh, no.
He's kidding.

I'll have to remember to tape Toonheads when it comes on. I missed that show. I hope Tex Avery makes it into the rotation eventually if this is sucessful. I guess asking for a new "in-depth" show to suceed these is out of the question, but I can live with classic goodness for the time being.

Speaking of Cartoon Planet, which will in all likelihood never make it to air ever again, I rifled through my collection of seven billion unlabeled tapes from ten years ago and discovered an episode on one of those tapes a few months back. I was so happy.

I'm glad to see classic cartoons end up during the late hours again. There used to be late night B&W before Adult Swim extended 5am. However, is this going to be included in the Adult Swim block or not? It doesn't really suffice to what else is on Adult Swim.
Hey if people are talking about this then they will probably watch it. This beats watching over-played episodes of Captain Planet which will end up on Boomerang in late-April.

You know, I went to the official Adult Swim message board today, and I figured there'd be a dozen complaints since 80% of the people on that board hate the Popeye Show, yet no one at that board seemed aware of the addition of the classics. Of course, it wasn't listed in the Adult Swim schedule or on their show list either. However, I went to the Cartoon Network schedule page and they listed the Popeye Show and the Bob Clampett Show but they weren't highlighted in grey like the other Adult Swim shows...odd, I'm wondering if perhaps they aren't going to package this like the rest of Adult Swim...of course, I'm assuming they won't advertise this since it's on at 5 in the morning anyway...well, I really should make a post at the official Adult Swim message board to see what their reaction to this is...

I haven't seen any of these shows yet. I know what The Bob Clampett Show is (and I plan to watch it), but could someone give me a better description of Toonheads? What classic animation does it include and is any of it rare and/or uncut?
