Reynolds Says He Would be The Flash

Source: FilmRoach
March 20, 2005

From www.comingsoon.net (http://www.comingsoon.net)

'FilmRoach' tells us that The Amityville Horror (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=4894) and Blade: Trinity (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=5215) star Ryan Reynolds said today in Los Angeles that he will star as The Flash if the project goes ahead.

Not only did he say he would love to play Deadpool, but he confirmed that he had a meeting the previous night with David Goyer, and if Warner Bros (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=8849#). green lights his script, he said, "I am the Flash."

Blade: Trinity (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=5215) writer/director and Batman Begins (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=5020) writer David Goyer has committed to write, produce and direct the feature adaptation of DC Comics (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=8849#)' The Flash.

Created by Gardner Fox (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=8849#) and Harry Lampert, the Flash first appeared in DC Comics late in 1939. He's the alter ego of chemistry student Jason Peter "Jay" Garrick, an aspiring athlete whose exposure to heavy water fumes gives him the ability to move at incredible speeds.

I think Ryan is a great choice to play whatever Flash incarnation they go with.

Personally, I'd rather him be Barry Allen or even Wally West. But, that's more because I'm more familiar with those characters.

Is that the same guy? Amazing what a little facial hair can add....

Oy, I don't know what to make of this. On one hand, I think he'd make a terrible Deadpool, but on the other, I'm a fan of Two Guys and A Girl. The Flash is one of my all-time favorite super heroes. Ryan Reynolds is no Barry Allen, but there's a chance he could work as Wally West.

I think there's a good chance they'll use Wally West. The comics sometimes treat him like more than "Barry's replacement," the animated series opted to use Wally, and Wally seems to be a bit more recognizable to fans (and us semi-fans) than Barry.

Plus you don't write a script with Ryan Reynolds in mind without shooting for one of the more fun Flashes.

After this came up in the Aquaman thread. I am just wondering if anything new has been mentioned regarding Goyer's Flash?

I think he'd make a wonderful choice, hopefully they will continue the project.

Without the facial hair he looks like the one guy of Good Charolette (however it is spelled) but with the muscule and facial he looks cool. I have to agree he looks like he would be more of a Barry Allen. Also I wouldn't mind him being Deadpool or anyone (....well not anyone) but it just would be a dream come true if a kickass Deadpool was made. Anyways good to hear some news about the Flash movie moving forward.

A mix of comedy and action is a very good thing to put into the Flash movie and this guy can do it.

I'm guessing this movie will start becoming a serious project once Goyer doesn't have soo many other distracting projects to do too. (BB2, Aquaman)

I'm searching for a fan pic of Reynolds as Flash...can't find one at the moment.
