Cartoon Network and its geographic relative The Atlanta Braves are teaming up to establish a Tooner Field, an interactive kid and family targeted area at Turner Field's East Pavilion (off the Grand Entry Plaza, in case you are headed there). The first phase of the Cartoon Network-branded multi-million dollar project, a three-story, layered facade showing the homes of Cartoon Network's characters, will be ready for Opening Day, Friday, April 8 (the game that day: Braves vs. New York Mets). The entire facility, 3000 sq ft., is expected to be completed and open for visitors by mid-July. Tooner Field will consist of eight different areas depicting the network's original characters in life-size baseball-themed environments. Kids will be invited to explore and play within several activity zones, participate in a variety of cartoony carnival games, have a picnic meal on a miniature baseball field or snack at a Cartoon Network-themed diner. Expect to see characters from Cartoon Network's original series including: Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, Codename: Kids Next Door, The Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Dexter's Laboratory and Ed, Edd 'n'Eddy.

this could be very neat :anime: baseballs an okay sport and seems like the most natural one to choose for toons :) if anyone lives in the area please check it out when possible if not for yourself then for the rest of us who live far from it :anime:

Yeah, I read this at AnimatedBliss. Pretty nice concept. If only I still lived in Atlanta. We were going to see a Braves game... eventually.

Hopefully this will be successful so that it will expand to include TOM and/or Sara.

And did you see the end of the story? They're saying a popular CN character will serve as the Braves' mascot in 2005.

Now I can watch the braves lose and my cartoons at the same time.

Dexter for team mascot in 2005, I say he best symbolizes the team.

Turner Media is making a smart move in terms of network promotion, they will get a good audience; after all, winning 10+ division titles in a row helps bring in fans.

Here's the press release from the team. (http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20050316&content_id=968705&vkey=pr_atl&fext=.jsp&c_id=atl)

Okay, and if it isn't...?It has to be. What other famous CN character could represent baseball?

Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, Codename: Kids Next Door, The Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Dexter's Laboratory and Ed, Edd 'n'Eddy.

Bloo from Foster's, maybe Yumi from Puffy, Nigel Uno, Bubbles, Pops, Billy, Dexter's Dad, or Ed. I dunno. One of those.

My guess is Nigel Uno, because the frickin' Braves have won a gazillion straight divisional titles. (Trust me, I should know. I'm a Phillies fan.)

LOL, Kaz, oh my. It could very well be Kaz. I'm going to say that it would be Numbuh 1 or maybe Dexter.

Funny thing is former "beloved" Braves Closer John Rocker looks like Scooby Doo.

I say "beloved" because I'm a New Yorker and a Mets fan, and the guy ruined his career when he decided to take on the city of NY.

Scooby?

A Bloo costume would've been much more easier on the eyes.

Indeed.

And the Mets are gonna kick the Braves' collective asses, today. Scooby or no Scooby.

So, did anyone go to the game tonight (4/8) if they lived in or near Atlanta. Who'd they choose?

I tuned in a Mets vs. Braves game tonight, waiting for the ten o'clock news to come on, and saw big-headed Dexter dancing as the sportscasters gave the wrap-up.

BTW, the Mets lost to Atlanta.

They've, uh, had "Tooner Field" for a few years now. Yeah, they're upgrading it, but it's not a new concept.

'course, they had it back when they had Sega Saturns to play...

"The invite I got said meet Scooby, if that means anything."
I think that was for the movie on the Diamond Monster Vision that Mitsubishi put in for the Braves.
