Curses. I'm going to have to rapid change between this and the Jets/Chargers game.
Good job, Eagle Eye.
So, is Scar in this one or next weeks? Already the anime and manga have some slight differences, but does the manga include the coal town filler?

come back at 3 AMThat's no fun, though :p
Oh, freaking sweet, custom FMA bumps
Then...Winry on a shopping spree! Yayz0r.
Good news...the game is over. Now to focus on FMA :)
"200,000."
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT???!!!"
...Where can I get one of those?
Well, it appears as if the story is now back to the present. Hooray.
Fun little episode here, even though I guess it counts as "filler", right?

Yeah, new bumpz0rz for everyone!
Winry is..pretty nuts. "*SQUEEK*"
Cute to see the mechanical savvy Winry go nuts for all the tools in that shop, and good ol' Ed arriving just in the nick of time to save that kid. I love the next part.

Interesting episode. So Ed is now known as being for the people amongst a military known to be against the people.
The best part was that last part. It's funny to see him suddenly snap into that angry face. :D
Overall, 8/10. I hope that there is a more interesting fight next time.

We can add Lyra's voice to the good list. And this is the last of the past ones if I'm not mistaken. We'll get into the real stuff soon. Also after the preview I remember the next episode. Ha, that was pretty funny. This episode was good on how everything played out in the end.

Pretty good ep. It is nice to have an up beat episode with a happy ending after the last two weeks. I give it ummm.....8/10

"Isn't it funny brother, that sometimes you can look at someone, and not know if they're bad or good?"
Apparentally Al can still let the hormones do the thinking, when he doesn't even have any hormones at all, or ever went through puberty for that matter! (Or did he?) Humans, such weak creatures we are when we see an attractive body, let alone one unzipping, right folks? :p
A nice, fun episode. Serious moments abound, but overall a light-hearted one, AT LEAST compared to the last two. Don't get me wrong, I loved those too :D

This episode can be considered more important since it introduced Lyra. Next week is one of the only true filler episodes in the series.

1) When you promise a girl you'll get her anything she wants... be sure to find a bank to drop by before fulfilling that promise! Wow... Winry's a mechanical freak, isn't she?
2) Sometimes you gotta bend the rules to get the job done. Even if it means making gold bars out of gold coins to get an unfair ruling alchemist to give up the deed of a miners' town.
3) Being a State Alchemist sucks. At least in this series. Ed's really getting manhandled by the people he's sworn to protect. Only with his goal in mind would he be willing to work a job that's so unrewarding.
4) Back to the future? After the confusion I've had the past few weeks, I'm glad to see we're finally back to present time. Now... where to from here?
"Be Thou for the People" gets a score of 8 out of 10.

Ed wanting Winry to think about his human parts......Ed, you horny little bastard.
Pretty nice "honest people being screwed over by corrupt people, Ed saves day blah blah balfjoiuhf" episode. I can't find anything bad about the episode, though, can't find anything great about it either.
I give Be Thou for the People a B.

Eh, I'm really not getting into this series. This episode was dull for the most part.
How many more flashbacks are left?
I think one more, along with a few scattered flashbacks here and there.
The long one would probably be of Ed and Al's first master and her training.
I haven't seen the anime but that's the only long flashback after this part in the manga.

Another good solid episode of FMA. That's all I have to say about it. Nothing outstanding, nothing bad, but a good solid episode.

MUCH better bumpers now. They even have real Japanese text in them that actually spell something. But the general bumpers for action are pretty wack now... Well whatever. Nothing will beat Toonami bumpers for me. Nothing.
Great episode! Alchemist for the people. I didn't know they could make something only change for a certain period of time.
Chris Rager (Hercule) and he didn't sounded good and not cheezy. I guess he could be Don on Bleach afterall.

Ed wanting Winry to think about his human parts......Ed, you horny little bastard.
All right now be honest who else other than us has their minds in the gutter?
I've been to some to some Ed/Winry fansites and read some fanfiction and I've read some very funny stuff relating to Winry and her "machine fetish" and Ed's alchemy and his auto-mail arm. Let's just say that if you have a dirty mind their is lots of pervy potential in this whole situation.
So, is Scar in this one or next weeks? Already the anime and manga have some slight differences, but does the manga include the coal town filler?Scar won't be reappearing for a few more weeks. We see him and hear about him at the end of episode 13, and he figures strongly into episode 14
The coal town was the third chapter of the manga.

Scar won't appear for that long? Damn. He's real early in the manga.
Oh, and I meant "Is the coal town filler in the anime?" I'm at par on the manga.

Look's like being a state alchemist is a tough and unrewarding(usually) job. Doesn't help when half the people you meet are 2 seconds from slugging you.
That aside a very good episode, especially the end. Watching Ed going beserk on someone because they brought up his Napolean complex his always entertaining.:D
10/10

Some thoughts:
-As a stand-alone episode, perhaps this could be filler. However, I think this episode is a real turning point for Ed. So far in these flashbacks, all we've seen is the Elrics being pushed around or manipulated. Before they even reach Central, Mustang is using them as his pawns to stop an attack by extremists (train episode). Al's prevented from becoming a state alchemist in order to maintain his secret. There's the whole tragic episode with Nina and the fact that there's nothing Ed and Al could do to stop or reverse the situation. Ed barely got away with his life in his face-off with Barry the Chopper. To top it all off, Ed is now fully aware that he's a dog of the military. He has to do what he's told, not just to achieve his goal, but because Colonel Mustang can turn him and Al in for practicing human alchemy anytime he wants. Ed and Al are almost completely powerless. Look how depressed he is at the beginning of the episode. You can almost see the noose/collar around his neck.
But now, now with this episode, Ed has found his spark. He doesn't have to sell out his soul to the state. He may be a dog, but he can use his newfound authority to bend rules and help the common man. I think victory was essential for Ed's development. Otherwise, the context of the first two episodes is that Ed is completely military and merely following orders as opposed to freeing the people from a dangerous false prophet.
-Alright, so Ed and Al kicked butt that episode with the old obsessed boyfriend, but that was complete filler.
-Scar? Yeah, we won't be seeing him for a while. When he comes back, though, he'll come back big. 7 weeks isn't so long.
-Can't wait for next week! Al's first crush, and wow he's got good taste! :D

I agree with the general sentiments of the others. It was an okay episode, not great. But it was cool to see more interaction with Winry. What's the deal with this all-knowing Mustang junk. Roy's a bit of an opportunist, but I don't think he's as great a strategist as they're making him out to be.

For a one shot episode, this was quite good. Fun, intelligent and it even had some nice alchemy action. The show needs to reach for that more often I think.

It was a decent ep, but I just kept thinking of it as an unused Trigun plot. What is it with the japanese and their hate of the military?

Well they were run by a military state pretty much from the early 1900s to 1945. I probably not be fond of the military either.

B-, bit boring but I liked the story and the ending.
A bit below average for FMA, but still OK. Ed and Al are still the antithesis of Tom and the Mayor.

They repeat the Saturday adult swin on Thursday nights.
This ep is good, but I really like how Ed outsmarted the greedy man in charge of the mine. And I realize how much Roy really does know. (He has a way of getting things done.)

1. New intro?
2. Winry --> Tim "The Toolman" Taylor! :D
3. Ed, never say you're rich. And never "flash" your "human side" to Winry. ;)
4. Bribe is equivalent exchange, so that makes it OK. :p
5. What is it with maids and anime? And here I thought Ed would be shredding more than Lyra's necklace.
6. Mustang wondering about the Eastern girls... and Lt. Hawkeye giving him the evil eye for it. :anime:
7. Preview: boob tattoo... That's a good place to put a transmutation circle - because that's where hands would like to touch! :o
8. Preview: phantom thief = St. Tail? :)

Erm, why was this episode called "Be Thou for the People" when the original Japanese title was something like "Silver Watch of the Military's Dog"? That's a pretty big liberty to take with the translation...

Well they were run by a military state pretty much from the early 1900s to 1945. I probably not be fond of the military either. And at that, a very brutal one that lead to both total humiliation and a national disaster.
Militaries are really good for only two things, killing people and breaking things. I wouldn't want one in charge of my country or any other country.
This show just builds and builds. 4 beers out of five.

Good job, Eagle Eye.
So, is Scar in this one or next weeks? Already the anime and manga have some slight differences, but does the manga include the coal town filler? Yes. It's a bit different.. but yes.
Every episodes is important to this series remember this. FMA is fluctuated by episodes like this but the rest of it has a drive to it.
