If I won, it would probably be somewhat akin to an anticlimactic sappy Hollywood movie ending where nothing changes because there's value in what they're doing right now. Except there'd be a little more Space Ghost and Case Closed.

If I win I'd probably do everything I think Adult Swim should have done from the start. I'd put Action on Mondays and Comedy on Sundays. I would bring back the old shows that havn't been seen in a while (Space Ghost) and put some shows they still have but didn't wanna put on (Rejected). I'd put some GOOD anime on the lineup...sans Bebop which had been played millions of times...even though it is good.

Reading the rules, I don't think you can have anime on it. (I'd paste that part of the rules here, but Firefox won't let me). So my idea if I win might still be a reality at least.
Six hours of Captain Linger "Trouble if it's Fair".
You think that thousand bucks would be enough to get "COME ON YOU OLD LADY!" and "GO YAFFA!" alternating all night for the commerical breaks?

Fact of the matter is, I probably wouldn't have even noticed this contest had I not inadvertantly stumbled onto this thread... and I post there way more than could be considered healthy.
edit:
Just checked the rules, and...
The Winner must select from Cartoon Network's Adult Swim original animated series programming for the Block. Cartoon Network cannot guarantee the exact dates or times on which the Block may appear on Cartoon Network. Cartoon Network reserves the right to alter or edit the Block in whole or in part in its sole discretion.Interesting... especially the part where it says, "You can have it your way, unless we decide not to let you."

Holy crap. I just realized that Hyper Sensei could finally get his wish.
(Unless he doesn't satisfy the requirements, I guess.)
Dang it all I wanted some anime... Case Closed, FMA, and Kikaider if I could air it
But since that's turned to crap I hope I can at least pick Venture Bros.
11:00 - Venture Bros.
11:30 - Harvey Birdman x 2
12:00 - Aqua Teen Hunger Force x 2
12:30 - The Brak Show x 2
01:00 - Space Ghost C2C x 2
01:30 - Home Movies or a second Venture Bros.
No Futurama, no Family Guy, no Milk Chan and NO SEALAB 2021
Actualy screw all that...
6 episodes of Venture Bros.!!!
Or a Space Ghost C2C or Harvey Birdman marathon.
Or the real curve ball a Home Movies marathon.
I can't just pick one episode for any given show it's too hard and they wouldn't let me pick the exact episode anyway (most likely).
Why no anime though? Let the kiddies have their Inuyasha marathon. There are worse things that could happen.
I doubt you could air the old itersiduals either...

... man, now I need a William C. Maune signal to get someone legal to interpret this. Nope. I am referring to the fact that my uncle developed the "flame broiled" technology at Burger King. It's fun going to his house during the holidays. He has a sign on his front door that says "Home of the Whopper"
Or that's what the voices in my head tell me.

For some reason, I have the major urge to dodge Burger King's legalities and make a pair of boxers with "Home of the Whopper" scrawled on them.
So, Lance, if he developed flame-broil technology, did the Heiskell Flame-Broil Dynasty take a hit when they switched to "fire grilled" promotions?
Karl Olson

Just for that, you deserve a trophy. Barring that, I'll just ask you for a hamburger at the next con I catch you at (or maybe bring you one... depends on how good the dealers room is. :)) By then you'll have forgotten, and it'll be even funnier... for me.
Anyway, if Funi's an affiliated entity, than I'm some what worried about by my eligibility then (Sealab commentary => 70/30 Productions => Affiliated Entity.)

That's not among the choices of AS original programming... Well, it is an original, but it's not in their programming beforehand, unless you can get them to buy it. :D
I'd just give everyone a Venture Brothers marathon. You know, something that doesn't suck.
herbkir
01-05-2005, 12:11 PM
Since I'd be limited to the AS originals only, here's how I'd do it if I won:
11-11:30 ATHF then Tom
11:30-12 Venture Bros.
12-12:30 Birdman then Tom
12:30-1 Venture Bros.
1-1:30 Birdman then ATHF
1:30-2 Space Ghost then Sealab
Tom is funny stuff. ATHF, Venture and Birdman have their funny episodes. So I'd dominate the block with those 4 shows. That last half hour would be a sop to appease the SG and Sealab fans, but they'd be at the butt end of the block, where crap belongs.
The real fun, though, would be if they let me write the bumpers for my programmed night. Maybe something like:
"To my buddy who laughed at my [Adult Swim] habit: Watch the bird, man."
"My dad warned me to stop watching those stupid cartoons or I'd come to a bad end. Well, he was right. I've become an [Adult Swim] programmer."
I hope the winner gets to write the bumps as well as select the shows. (^_*)

The official rules say "originals" only. Bad because most of the best AS shows are aquisitions (including breadwinners Family Guy and Futurama). But I think Big O may count, since CN did pay for it.
I'm not thrilled with being restricted to the WS shows, but making the best of it by showing old school Space Ghost and Big O would be a good comprimise. Of course the rules also say they can change your line-up at their discretion, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone make up a schedule and it turns into a Sealab marathon.
DarkHorse
01-10-2005, 04:59 AM
I don't think rules would let you have your way. :D
Meanwhile, I entered. I'm not sure whether originals includes aquisitions or what (original programming could just mean shows that air on Adult Swim. It's a legally ambigous phrase,) but I suppose I could just do an evening of Rejected (hey they own the rights, they've got to air it sometime, why not 12 times in a row?)
On the subject of Rejected, at Comic-Con for past two years I have asked about it (both at the large panel, and directly in person with several AS people). It's basically in limbo - all that stands in the way is Standards & Practices. I'm sure we all got a pretty decent picture from ATHF's "Geewhiz" episode about Turner S&P. So beyond that, we're just waiting to see if anything happens.
And as for me... yes I have entered. If possible, I will use the encore hours as well to display more shows instead of replays.
And no, you don't get to know... be assured that my ideas will not, I repeat not, include any of the following scenarios: A complete marathon of InuYasha. (I like IY, just not enough to paste it all over AS for a night)
I'm hoping it's possible to do something with the bumps as well.
May whoever is selected be wise in their decisions.

No one wants to utilize the encore hours?
The contest rules specifically state a three-hour block of programming. They've had 2am-5am for a year, haven't they? Why must WS waste such perfect opportunities to run oldies like SGC2C, Brak, Lupin and Gundam 0083?
If I could use the other three hours, I'd probably do a SGC2C marathon with episodes chosen via a poll on this very message board. ;)

Come on, its our turn to get creative. Old promos, Meguzi-flaming, Moltar-Praising (Yes, its an attack on an entirely different block), but cards should speak our minds.
Oh yeah, and the $1000.

Excellent... now with the rule change, an even better schedule can be created!
Now here's to hoping we can use the repeat hours for an uber-block.
Now my dream of Venture Brothers and Lupin III back to back can be a reality.

Well since I am not a sadist, I will not enter this contest.
But the Adult Swim CN schedule I would have would leave you weeping in pain from the drama and tragedy of my six episode line-up. It would be in this order;
Big O Season II: Negotiation With the Dead
Trigun: Sin
Cowboy Bebop: Real Folk Blues Part 2
Wolf's Rain: OVA "Wolf's Rain" (Last episode)
Fullmetal Alchemist: Night of the Chimera's Cry
Ghost in the Shell 'Stand Alone Complex': Jungle Cruise
If you can watch those six episodes, one after another, in that order, and not shed a single tear, then you are not human.

To Whomever Wins:
"Please play the "Return to Eltingville" Pilot, as I miss it."
Signed,
Milton
(I probably misspelled "Eltingville", but whatever.)

I hope whoever wins wants to see that Yung girl get snatched up by a Blue again....
Too late :(
Whoever wins, it better not be one of the three Landstander mentioned. That would suck...
If I had my way, it'd be filled with CC, FMA, Lupin, and a Fooly Cooly marathon if I had 6 hours.

With the rule change, I'm tempted to be evil if I win.
How about Big O Episode 21-25, then we play Stripes?  :D
