Recently I have been thinking about deep things like the meaning of life and such. And so I decied to ask everyone here what they think it is. So here is the question, What do you think the meaning of life is?

To crush your enemies. See them driven before you. And listen to the lamentations of the vimmen.
At least that's what gets me through the day.

What do you think the meaning of life is?According to Merriam-Webster.com it's a : the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body b : a principle or force that is considered to underlie the distinctive quality of animate beings
Physically, to reproduce and keep the species going.
So you live so that others can live to make others live so that others can make others to live to...

War- to see the last man standing. We fight to survive.
To die.
We live to see what exists in the afterlife.

To sit in front of a computer and type.....and type some more.
Really, the meaning of life is what you want to make your life out to be.

Physically, to reproduce and keep the species going. theology aside, of course, I think that's all there is to it. just because we're intelligent doesn't mean we're not animals. religion is a way to make people behave morally. of course there's no way to prove there is/are god(s), so there's no definite answer to your question.
but think about society. almost everything comes back to sex. almost everything we do (consciously or subconsciously) is related to attracting members of the opposite sex. the good job = money = nice clothes and a fancy car and a nice house = attractiveness. the reason males are attracted to large breasts and wide hips (curves). the reason females are attracted to broad shoulders. complicated as we might be, we're still just animals. our only real KNOWN purpose is (to quote again) "to reproduce and keep the species going."

I believe the meaning of life is to honor God and find that special someone to keep the family bloodlines flowing. And to kick some ass every now and then.:)

"Well, it's nothing very special. Uh, try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations."

It's like "that one thing" in City Slickers. It's different for everybody.
For me, two things.
1. Be remembered.
2. Make the world better for those I leave behind than it was for me.
And if I can reproduce while I'm at it? Groovy.

To worship God. To be like a diciple(sp?) to Jesus. To fellowship with others. To use your talents and share it with others to form a mission for God. To evangelize about God.
That's what it said in the "Purpose Driven Life".

To live the best life we can while making the world the best place we can make it for those who are already here and those who are to come.
Yeah, that's pretty hokey, but I think it works.

It depends on who you talk to.
Author Robert Byrne felt the purpose of life was a life of purpose. DC Comics editor and architect of the Silver Age Julius Schwartz felt that it was to share the things you loved with the people you loved. Walt Whitman said, in Leaves of Grass, that life is a "powerful play", and that "you will contribute a verse."
Thoreau argued that a successful life was one which satisfies but one friend. William Osler believed that we were here to contribute to life, as opposed to extracting value from it. Ralph Waldo Emerson once claimed that, "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." Arthur Miller theorized that perhaps it was the best one could do to end up with the right regrets.
Antoine de Saint-Expurey often proposed that life had no inherent meaning, and that one was better off not worrying about it. In his own words: "How could drops of water know themselves to be a river? And yet the river flows on." Along those lines, French playwright Albert Camus advised us that "You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life." Thomas Jefferson proposed that the art of life was the art of avoiding pain.
On the other hand, Henry Miller believed that the aim of life was to possess the fullest awareness possible. Robert Louis Stevenson felt that a major component of the meaning of life was contemplating the things we cannot cure. Mel Brooks believed that the purpose of life was "to flap your arms and legs, to jump around a lot, for life is the very opposite of death, and therefore you must at very least think noisy and colorfully, or you're not alive." Recently departed songwriter Warren Zevon, meanwhile, felt that the meaning of life, simply, was to "enjoy every sandwich."
And Charles Schulz, ever the pragmatist, decided that the secret of life was that "you just hang around until you get used to it."
Ultimately, you'll just have to figure it out for yourself. Hopefully you'll have fun getting there.

"Life's a piece of s@%$

Keep 'em laughing as you go

I can't believe no one has posted a Monty Python reference yet. I might as well be the first.
[cheesy music plays]
Whenever life gets you down,
And things seem hard or tough
And people are stupid obnoxious or daft
And you feel that you've had quite enough...
Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at 900 miles an hour,
That's orbiting at 19 miles a second, so it's reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see,
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at 40,000 miles an hour,
Of the galaxy we call the Milky Way.
Our galaxy itself contains 100 billion stars
It's 100,000 light years side to side.
It bulges in the middle, 16,000 light years thick
But out by us its just 3,000 light years wide
We're 30,000 light years from galactic central point,
We go round every 200 million years
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding Universe.
The Universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light you know,
12 million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember when you're feeling very small and insecure
How amazingly unlikely is your birth
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space
Because there' bugger all down here on earth! [music ends]
Life's an itch and then you die. Thank you.
:)
