Warning: Rant
To be perfectly honest, I really don't care about what happens to the Music Industry.
Why is that? The Music Rights issue has done more to ban (and censor) TV Shows on DVD than Anything else. And With Box Sets on the Rise, MAny shows have been censored or banned becuase of this. I'm for Copyright Extension, but royalty-gouging is one of the biggest brick walls for numerous shows, and maybe TV Rights and Video Rights need to be combined into one set of Rights. Eliminates Legal Headaches and gives Fans What They Want. Win-Win, Right?
And since that's not going to happen, I don't care what happens to the Music Industry. Call ME Extreme, Call Me Pro-Piracy (and i'm not) but that's how i feel.

What show on DVD has been banned due to music rights?Miami Vice and WKRP in Cincinatti, to name a couple of relatively obscure examples. Oh, and Let's Not Forget the Gumby DVD having the Redubbed 1980's osundtrack becuase of Music Rights Hell.
Examples of Episode Omission/Censorship due to Music Rights hell include the otherwise Flawless Greg the Bunny Set, and The Spongebob Squarepants Season 1 set.
It's the 1980's all over again.

Don't forget Quantum Leap season two. They removed Georgia on My Mind, during the emotional climax of the season finale among other songs. I was extremely pissed when I heard that. They shouldn't bother releasing shows until their music rights are cleared.
And yes the music industry should be ashamed of itself for gouging on that matter.

Plus the movie "Hollywood Nights" has never been released on video or DVD because of music rights....What? I'm sure somebody wants that movie released on DVD.

What show on DVD has been banned due to music rights?
It's the most common reason I hear as to why "Ally McBeal" is taking so long to come to DVD.
...Not that I care personally, but it is/was a very popular show and I constantly get requests for it at work.

The upcoming DVD set of Married With Children had to replace 'Love and Marriage". Sacrilege.

The upcoming DVD set of Married With Children had to replace 'Love and Marriage". Sacrilege. Say what?! That song IS Married with Children! That would just sadden me if I bought it. I don't think I want to collect MwC DVD box sets now.

WHAT!!! That is an outrage! What are they replacing it with?!?
Failure to secure music rights also had to do with the release and subsequent recall of the "History of Beavis and Butthead" DVD set a couple years ago. Somehow the DVD hit the shelves in some stores before the mistake was caught and they all had to be pulled and recalled, though not before some had already been bought and made their way onto ebay, selling for hundreds of dollars.
Also, fans of MTV's "The Maxx" who bought the VHS collected edition found that the song "I Want To Marry A Lighthouse Keeper" had been replaced with "I'm In Love With the School Bus Driver." Again, due to problems with the rights.

Anyone know if they're part of why Tiny Toons hasn't hit DVD, with its music video episodes which were cleared for VHS?

I have no idea, I've been waiting for any word on this being released on DVD myself :( If Muppet Babies could be released on DVD (those dinky individual discs you can only get by buying the dolls anyway) why can't TT?
