View Full Version : Does anyone else look through old threads?

I do. And I found that it is possibly one of the most enlightening things one can do,well regarding forums and messageboards anyway.
I was simply surprised at the amount of things that 'clicked' this time round.Things I replied to but missed due to my adamant attempts to get my point of view across. Now when I looked through most of them, the absense of the inherent bias in me helped to shed light on the other person's perspective and appreciate it.

I look at my old posts once in a while. Some of my opinions have changed over time, though it may look like I'm contradicting myself to the naked eye. ;)

Yeah, for fun. I like seeing how the stupidity in my posts thrived then, and still to this day.:p

I often hop in the time travel box and go on trips to the past on the various forums I frequent. It's enlightening and sort of esteem-building -- I really do have my moments. :D
No, really. I nearly choked on what I was eating yesterday when I saw one of my responses to a thread from July on another forum. The things you say but forget about so quickly thereafter...
To see about some news that might have been posted....I am looking back a full year....don't know if I will find it though...It took a while..I found the thread I was looking for......maybe I will bring it up sometime..I love the idea of looking back through archives to find what people were thinking and talking about a while back..gives me insite into what people are really about....

But there's no reason to bring back year old threads.
I look at old threads but I don't bring them back.

So, yeah. Now, let me actually go look at the thread.

Since I'm still quite new to this board, I go through the older threads, reading about what has been posted, so I don't repost a subject that has already been discussed.
Yes, because when my job keeps me busy I don't have time to read all the posts in this forum.
It's a pity, because many times I wish I could submit a reply in them :P.

But there's no reason to bring back year old threads. This thread isn't a year old, and it's still relevant, so it's just fine.

I used to, but never revive dead threads. It's much better to post new resembling ones if you have to.

Sometimes I even revive a few that were from year 2003 (I came here year 2004 and missed out on a lotta stuff).

The last reply was done in December of 2004. It's now 7 months later.
When a thread has died down, don't bring it back.

When a thread has died down, don't bring it back. I see where you are coming from Sailor, but I also agree with Kury in a way. I like to look back at old threads because I only joined this year. But I also see how it can be annoying bringing up old things from the past that were over with then. I admit, I brought back an old thread("well-known" thread) and looking back now, I see how wrong I was in doing it. Alot of people got mad when they weren't on people's lists, and then people went debating about whether or not you should post "popularity threads". So, in a way, I agree with both you and Kury.

Damn, I was newbishly ignorant. Sweet. I don't know how posters could put up with me then. Makes me wish I can return my younger, more stupider self again. It'd be more fun. :D
