I've had good fortune lately, and I've been thinking of doing something for those less fortunate than me. I called up the soup kitchen today and they said I had to come and fill out an application. Fill out an application for volunteer work? The last time I did volunteer work I didn't have to apply, I just did it. I mean, first of all, I really don't have a good reason to volunteer. I mean, most people who volunteer have to volunteer for a class or their church or because they committed a crime. I really have no reason to volunteer, and I'd feel like an idiot applying. Keep in mind, in general I don't like applying for anything. I get extremely nervous applying for jobs and stuff, I kind of have to force myself to do it. Quite frankly, I feel like a slacker even thinking about applying for volunteer work considering my job just ended and I'm currently unemployed. And to be completely honest I feel kind of stupid even making this post considering I'm not even sure what my question is...urrr...ummm...yeah...

Good for you also. But in this one town that I do volunteer work we just go into soup kitchens and work there for the day. (though some 30 year old man was hitting on me and my sister. It was scary) Though at my church group we do alot of things also. So you can probely maybe join a youth group or maybe at ur school there you can start something.
Like a 30 hour famine or a penny drive, or a lemonade stand then the money can go to an animal shelter. (I have done all these things:sweat: ) There r sooooo many ways to help the unfortunete people!!!:)

Not only that, but it looks good on a resume.

Yeh.....I have been thinking about this for a while. I need to start doing this. I might go in on Tuesday and talk to my counselor about this. It'll definately look good on my resume.
I volunteer at a local Community College, have met some great people, and made good friends..Teach English as a Second Language .One man I met, actually was at rally where Stalin spoke, and was about 200 feet from where he stood..I have learned much from this experience..It is hard to believe, but between 10 and 20 million Americans, born and raised here, can't read. Anyone with a college degree, or good reading skills could give someting very special to those who can't read,,They will teach you how to do it, but it is very, very difficult, and demands tremendous patience...I enjoy this work tremendously...

Ummm...so you think it's good that I'm not volunteering because I'm too scared of rejection? Anyway, my parents are really pressuring me to get another job. My job just ended on Sunday, and they really want me to start working right away. Of course, I'm really busy applying to law school too, and the job market looks pretty ****** right now. I mean, even when the interviews seemed to go really well I still didn't get a job offer. It just frustrates me to no end. It just pisses me off that I worked my ass off during college to get a 3.8 and all these retarded managers go and hire some dumbass instead! I know I'm smarter than the other applicants, so why do they get hired instead of me! I just want to scream!
Wow, I sure took my own topic off track quickly. Anyway, I don't think I'm going to do volunteer work, because I'm pretty sure they won't hire me, well, is it even called hiring for volunteer work? I don't know. And how am I going to explain to my parents that I'm volunteering instead of getting a job? I can't.

Ummm...so you think it's good that I'm not volunteering because I'm too scared of rejection? I don't know how their selection process works but I don't think they would reject you unless you are a felon or something.=/ Still you don't really have anything to lose do you?
