Anyone else noticed The Animatrix is being presented with different commercial breaks?
Also that the shorts have been rearranged? Osiris is at the end, Renaissance is at the front, Kid's Story is before Beyond, Detective Story is before Matriculated.

Robot Chicken- Isn't that Seth Green's thing?
American Dad- Thought it was going to Fox first.
Tom Goes To The Mayor- Second season, or just unaired episodes from this batch?
Sealab 2021- Yay, it ain't dead yet.
Family Guy- Um... Fox'll air it in Spring?
Birdman- He'll take the case!
Stroker and Hoop- Please improve on the pilot kthbye
Perfect Hair Forever- This is a joke, right?
12oz Mouse- ... anything like Inch-High Private Eye?
Squidbillies- Umm...
ATHF- Yay.
Boondocks- Please, do not bring your political agendas to AS.

Why..Why couldn`t they have made that thign with Space ghost and the other WS guys a real show. At least there is no new SMC, but it looks like they`re repalcing it with a show even less funny.(if that is even possible)
American dad, new birdman, and new ATHF is a good thing, and of course I`ll give the other new shows a chance, but PHF...it`s like finding a fly in your soup. Ruins the whole thing.

Robot Chicken is Seth Green's project and American Dad is suppose to premiere on Super Bowl day, February 6th.
That's interesting... Remember, Family Guy's Pilot aired after The Superbowl in 1999. :)
Now for my Comments on the New Shows '05 (From the List by KnuxFive):
Robot Chicken- From Sweet J to Seth Green's Untitled Project to Robot Chicken... Weird. Since it is Seth Green, I'm not expecting much, prove me wrong.
American Dad- I'm thinking this will be just recycled Family Guy humor (if you saw the plot outline and their characters, they're just different looking versions of the Family Guy characters.) I'm not sure how long it will last, maybe it can be alright.
Tom Goes To The Mayor- Yes! More Tom. I don't know why this show is so hated, it's so funny! :)
Sealab 2021- Cool. Again, despite the message boards dislike for Sealab, I think it's fine, but I have to admit that they should plan on ending Sealab 2021 soon.
Family Guy- YAY!!! I'm growing very very tired of the reruns. It just doesn't have the rewatchability value that shows like The Simpsons, Space Ghost, The Critic, or even Aqua Teens has.
Birdman- Alright! Now let's hope they'll have more than 6 new episodes, I mean come on! This and ATHF are the top Williams Street shows and both get great ratings!
Stroker and Hoop- I also didn't care for the pilot. I hope that the series will improve though. Again, is it just me, or is anyone thinking this show might have premieres on Saturday after Futurama?
Perfect Hair Forever- I really really hated this the first time I watched it. Second time was okay. But can it really work as a series (if it really is going to be?)
12oz Mouse- Hm... I'll get back to you on that one.
Squidbillies- I don't get it, can't they just put this one in the can? I hope they got really really funny ideas with this one because the delays are riddiculous for a show with such a dull concept.
ATHF- Can't get enough. :)
Boondocks- I think this could be good.
Others: I guess we're not going to hear much about AS Action right away, hope to eventually. Why oh why can't we have more Space Ghost?!?!?! :crying: Nearly everyone loves that show, and from what I remember (unless I'm really off) it got pretty good ratings back when it used to air on Sundays. I hope DC isn't expecting the comic to launch into a successful, serious TV series? I'm hoping Venture Bros. Season 2 isn't out of question, oh I hope it isn't. :(
In other news, I can't wait for those High Definition AS Bumpers!!!! I can't believe how much hair Meatwad really has!!! ;)

*wonders if they're going to say anything about action shows in 2005* AS will likely mention new anime series acquisitions later in the year. Besides, with a new season of Inu-Yasha starting soon and at least four more months of new FMA and GITS:SAC, it's not like we'll be having a drought of new anime on AS any time soon.

That can wait till next weekend. It's not like there's a new FMA ep this weekend whose ratings they need to announce the week after.
FMA is 51 episodes. Try at least 10 more months.
AS may just show the first ~26 eps before re-running though.
(Then again, Gundam Seed is being shown all the way thru to ~50. Then again, it also got shafted to the stealth hour, so there's no use re-running it now.)

I'm willing to give Stroker and Hoop a chance as a series. I still remember when The Venture Bros. pilot aired that I thought it was just awful, but then the series itself started and now it's one of the best things they ever had. Then they reaired the pilot after The Animatrix on daylight savings time night and I STILL didn't want them making that peice of crap show. So just bring it on then.
I am DREADING April. New Sealab's and New Tom Goes to the Mayor?! Why not just cancel Adult Swim outright that month?
Perfect hair forever is a series? Well, doesn't that make thing interesting. I suppose we'll be seeing more of the girl in thong.
Also, no action premieres? So I guess it's just FMA and the next GITS, along with the usual reruns of Inu-Yasha, huh?

What the hell is 12m Mouse? Never heard of it.
American Dad and new Family Guy episodes are airing back to back on Fox Superbowl Sunday. So I guess Adult Swim's airing reruns. It's good they're airing them soon after the first premieres. I had a feeling it would be a while before they started airing it.
Robot Chicken sounds interesting. I wonder what the hell it's about. I guess Space Ghost really is cancelled.

AS can announce comedy shows well ahead of time because it's their own productions, so they know what's up and when they'd be ready for air.
Meanwhile, anime are acquisitions, which they can do at any time. They may not have acquired something yet or they may acquire something then air it just a month later. In other words, they can take their time when announcing acquisitions.
Rabi~en~Rose
12-28-2004, 03:27 AM

Seems like Fox's really cracking down on Family Guy's language and content...I wonder if AS has the power to broker a deal saying "go ahead and animate/record the scene anyway because we'll air it." Then they could rake in viewers by advertising it as "what FOX dosen't have the balls to show."
FOX is an all-ages network, so them not having the cajones to air the word "crap" in an adult cartoon while cable kiddie networks air the word freely just shows how pathetic they are ("Look at us! We're moralistic! Now watch these lewed beer ads and drugs ads for errections and gentital herpes.")

Adult Swim never licensed these vintage shorts (like lfv said...twice). Now, that said, there's even more of a question as to why Adult Swim decided not to show the OAVs in that they were already shown once before, and Kim Manning (you know, AS.com's "Employee of the Month") had mentioned months in advance that Adult Swim had gone out of their way to license them. It doesn't make any sense that Adult Swim would neglect showing something they had gone out of their way to license, simply because it wasn't received well.

They did the same thing with Kikaider when it aired, they skipped the OAVs
for whatever reason they just restart the series
though AS has not shown the 4 clip shows of WR even though they are part of the main series
RahXephon
12-29-2004, 11:20 AM
Even with Kikaider, it was played through quite a few times including the OAVs.
In this case, it was the second weeknight run. There were a lot of fans who had missed the series the first time who were tuning in for a repeat-showing, to either help fill in the gaps, or just because they liked it. The fact that Adult Swim completely forgot about the OAVs this time around is a smack in the face for all of its Action fans.
Moreover, according to the schedule here, it looks like episodes 29 and 30 are planned sometime next week. Why would they skip two OAVs, then place the other two straight in the middle of another run? That's worse than not playing the OAVs at all.
It just doesn't make sense.

I noticed that and assumed it was scheduling error and that the OVA's would start last night and wrap up next week before it moves to the 1:30 timeslot. They can still rectify the problem and get all of the OVA episodes in before the time slot change but they would have to start tonight.
Weird situation. I can see why people would be pissed.

Thursday December 30th
11:00/3:00 – Read or Die
1:00 – The Animatrix
I guess they couldn't live two nights without the F shows :( I wanted to watch RoD again but early not late :(
Robot Chicken- Seth Green is making this, huh? Okay, I'll give it a chance
American Dad- Since it's from Seth, I expect it to be good.
Tom Goes To The Mayor- I haven't even got around to watching Tom...
Sealab 2021- Bleh.
Family Guy- Yayness! New Family Guy episodes!
Birdman- I'm happy.
Stroker and Hoop- Meh. I didn't care much for the pilot...
Perfect Hair Forever- ...
12oz Mouse- What's that?
Squidbillies- I'm not really looking forward to this show too much...
Aqua Teen Hunger Force - Kick arse.
Anyway, I caught Read or Die for the first time today. It was a pretty good movie, I must say. Good animation, good writting, likeable characters... Yeah, it was a very good movie.

As for the rest of ASA, it sounds like they're really scaling back on new series this year as compared to '04, although I'd be surprised if there isn't at least one new series acquisition (in addition to GitS #2). Would love to see new eps of Case Closed; I know at this point it looks doubtful, but I do think if they had started it out on Saturdays as they've done with FMA & GitS (and as was originally the plan) it would have had similar results. Maybe when the repeats return they'll give it a Saturday shot, before 1AM, where it would likely at least occasionally crack the top 3. It's optimistic, but hey, we can hope.
