This year, December 21st is the Northern Hemisphere's winter solstice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_solstice), the shortest day - and longest night - of the year. This exact moment of the solstice will take place at 7:42 am EST.
Many cultures celebrate the winter solstice, or a holiday that takes place within a few days of it - examples of these include Saturnalia, Christmas, Hannukah, and Kwanzaa. Wiccans (including myself) and Neo-Pagans celebrate the solstice as Yule (http://www.witchvox.com/holidays/xyule.html).
To everyone at Toon Zone, have wonderful Solstice and a Merry Yule! :anime:
