Not much happened.
Infact most specials and changes only happened recently.
Other than TMNT it's been a dry year. Code Lyoko has it's good points but I'm glad its off the line-up for now.
Energon got pwned again... Obi cries about it every night.
Static is a good addition, but unfortunately it's not exclusive to the block. Nothing really is...
Where are SD Gundam and X-Men: Evolution? They'd be excellent additions... and yet they are nowhere to be seen. Shoot... Jackie Chan Adventures would be great for the block as well. KWB doesn't regularly air it in the afternoon anymore anyway.
There is potential for the block but overall I ask myself... Why does this even exist?
I'm fine with Toonami not being at that time anymore but Miguzi just seems like wasted space. Toonami and Miguzi are too similar in their show selections. The main difference is Toonami airs anime and shows which CN has previously given up on (Samurai Jack, Rurouni Kenshin, Astroboy - though it's gone now as well, etc). Teen Titans airs on both and Totally Spies probably would if CN wanted to target girls with Toonami (Sailor Moon anyone?). Miguzi is basically a dumbed down and super bubbly Toonami with far less substance. It hides behind a clever shell of TS and TT which will apparently never go stale to this generation. I'd probably hate it, if it weren't for TMNT. Otherwise everything it airs, airs elsewhere and often. That's gotta change one way or another.
Putting Justice League, X-Men: Evolution, Megas (soon it'll have enough for weekdays), and/or Samurai Jack on prime time would be an excellent start. TT has a solid spot on Miguzi still and plenty of spots on the weekend. But give the other heroes a chance.
Of course the other option is Toonami 10-11PM or Adult Swim Action (Inuyasha/Case Closed) 10-11PM.
But something's gotta change. I fear this madness may never end.

I was quite upset when I heard that Toonami was replaced with Miguzi. The only shows I even like on Miguzi are Teen Titans and Static Shock.Sure they give Teen Titans and Static good slots ,but at the cost of my precious Toonami I dont think so.

Since I've officially stopped watching Totally Spies, I have no reason to watch Miguzi anymore. Teen Titans comes on at 9 PM if I want to watch, and that time usually works better for me anyway. Code Lyoko never appealed to me, I've never really gotten into a Transformers show, and Static Shock is, I'd say, average. For me, it's one of those shows that you watch while you're flipping through channels during commercial breaks. I can't say I've ever had the motivation to watch an entire episode. And as for TMNT 2K3, I know it's more true to the comics, but I like the '87 series better. Maybe it's nostalgia, maybe it's the goofy humor, whatever. I'll admit that the new show has better animation and designs, but I didn't really get into it.
What I DO like about Miguzi, though, are the bumpers. Sure, they're corny, but for some odd reason they're appealing. I like all the characters, particularly Flip and Bass, and though the CG animation isn't award-winning or revolutionary, it gets the job done and the visuals capture the underwater look pretty well. It was definitely a highlight when they made the new intro, where Big Stalks took Erin to the undersea base.

things started out very good and I watched all of Miguzi daily becoming a super fangirl :) but in time I got tired of TS, never really liked TT but I did watch both runs of TMNT and like the first 4 runs of Lyoko :)
but then Sunday Miguzi came and just as quickly became a pointless marathon block :( by the time Lyoko was outsourced I was really looking down on the block because it fell so fast from selling all its shows out :(
it doesnt help that Energon lasted only 2 weeks and then was replaced by Static which already had a great timespot and was kind of useless because Miguzi already had a superhero show
right now I am still trying to have hope for the block but thats not the easiest thing in the world
the absolute worst thing Miguzi's done was airing like all of its series out of order. from the start new Spies episodes were out of order and so was Lyoko. when TMNT was extended it skipped around episodes and TT was always out of order unless you also watched the primetime run. Energon was started like 10 episodes into the series and Static on season 3. its hard to forgive poor show treatment like that and its something Toonami rarely if ever did
the best its done is the packaging. its so fresh bright and alive unlike Toonami. the bumps are fun and work in a way that more can be added without redesigning the whole thing every year or so like Toonami does simply because theres lots of characters and places not yet seen :)
at this point I can say things were good until the bubble burst and now Miguzi's in need of some anime infusion (from ADV!) or its 1st birthday might end up being a not so happy one

You know of course PoT would air on Toonami if it was on CN.
CN wont even air Duel Masters on Miguzi.
I think the best show Miguzi has coming in the future is probably reruns of One Piece. Shaman King is probably not popular enough for a Miguzi run.

For being the first year, not having much selection of shows, very selected packaging and the demographic that it does, I’d say that Miguzi did a fine job this year. It is accomplishing what it was created to do and, while it doesn’t really appeal to mine or some other’s crowd, I think it should continue doing what is most popular and what is getting it successful. I’d just hope the constant viewers will get more of a selection in the coming year.
BTW, Rabi, that is an incredibly in-depth list that you have there, and it helped me remember some highlights of this year. I really must say, good job.

I don't even watch it, i did when Energon was on and if my fave ep of TS airs*Ice Man Commeth i believe is the name* I watch.
TT is fun when new but i don't care for reruns, and i only watch Static when its a Batman ep.
Code Lyoko is boring IMO.
TMNT is good, and again i'll watch my fave eps but thats it.
Mostly a wasted 2*1 & a half* hours IMO though.
Toonami NEEDS a weekday spot somewhere!!!!!!!!

I still think AS should get the 10-11 hour. Maybe an hour of Toonami first, but that might be pushing it.

I think that Miguzi should swap out Teen Titans for a little bit. Don't get me wrong I love the show but CN airs it way too much considering they have not even finished three seasons yet. They should put Samurai Jack or even the new He-Man in its place for a while.
As for the other shows, I hate Code Lyoko. I was never a fan of the whole computer world idea; it seems kind of lame.
Ninja Turtles is alright but I do like the old series better. Still I watch it sometimes and I think it fits the block well.
Totally Spies is pretty annoying, but also seems to fit the block well. Also, targeting young girls is a positive aspect for the block.
Static shock is alright but CN should only air it once a day. Either during Miguzi or at night, but not both.
As for the bumps I am not a huge fan. The CG is pretty ugly, but a few of are kind of funny. The real problem is that they get old really fast.

Either Toonami or AS works 10-11PM if they use the time effectively.
Inuyasha and Case Closed or Dragonball Z/GT and Yu Yu Hakusho/Kenshin/Other.
Toonami 9-10PM wouldn't work so well. 9-14 loves prime time television on the major networks. Making 8-10PM pretty much dead locked on network television except for in the summer.
In the summer they could have Toonami 9-10PM but not durring the regular television season.
That's no doubt why CN targets 6-11 in prime time rather than older. But 10-11PM should be at least targeted at 9-14 if not 12-17 or 18-34.
If Adult Siwm expanded an just put Futurama and Family Guy at 10PM... then I'd feel they are wasting the space. Those shows already have great slots. Giving some other shows a chance would be better. Inuyasha and CC could be a winning combonation at from 10-11PM.
Back to Miguzi...
Hopefully next year will show more development.

It was definitely a highlight when they made the new intro, where Big Stalks took Erin to the undersea base. That was the Leviathan, not Big Stalks.
If new eps of Code Lyoko are coming spring (excited about!!) ... then will it be rejoining miguzi? When they come in autumn, they will have to air somewhere. Of course, Miguzi's the first choice.
Now on to more important matters.
The presentation is sad.
The lineups are sad.
The fans are sad.
The Cartoon Network's happy.
That explains it all.
But, I digress.
Miguzi had some nice shows, until they ran into the ground. They did the right thing with Code: Lyoko, now just do that with Teen Titans and Totally Spies!.
Get some more DCAU and WB Animation action shows on the block. WB could help out a lot with the construction of this block. Just keep it fresh. 1 1/2 runs, and it's off.
Zeta, Xiaolin, all worthy shows.

Very good post Rabi~en! I think that there should have been a spot between shows promise and very good. It definetly shows promise, but has had it's moments. Yet not very good. It had shows that were overdone, too many reruns, limited chances for Energon, yet far from terrible. Miguzi is going to be great. So good year, look forward to the next. Well until the next "Time" anyways!
I stopped watching when Energon was taken off. I don't like Static Shock or Totally Spies, I'm lukewarm to TMNT, and I've seen Teen Titans so many times my head will explode if I ever watch a rerun of it again.
Duke, you can always watch (albeit crappily) the new episodes on www.cartoonnetwork.com/transformers (http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/transformers) .

I don't care what anyone says, Toonami in it's previous stage stil owns all over this block for now. It needs work. Lineups were eh. Shows they got teetering on an average. TMNT, good choice. Totally Spies, needed but didn't make it my personal priority. Code Lyoko, it wasn't that good but has it's fans and I won't hate on them. Static Shock, pretty good choice but it disrupted some diversity. Transformers Energon, alright and was a show that did add diveristy among genres. Teen Titans is everywhere, just look for a comment about it in just about....a good majority of threads around the whole forum. Don't know why they were labled "Specials" cause it's not like they were exclusive or anything, just Toonami hand-me-downs. Linesups were boring, not the sows but how they were presented. Characters have crap personalities, till this day I wish for the Intruder to bumrush Erin and her friends with an barrages of painful attacks. However, it's results were damn impressive. Don't know exactly HOW it did so good but it did and succeeded gracefully.
Here's hoping it really improves.

Toonami in it's previous stage stil owns all over this block for now.Amen to that. In its current stage, Miguzi is basically just another form of general cn programming. Toonami has always been unique because of its anime and action programming that isnt shown all the time on cn. The only miguzi exclusive right now is tmnt. The other shows in the lineup can be found all over cn's regular programming schedule. Toonami always had exclusives like gundam, zoids, dragonball, tenchi, etc.
I keep on hoping that Miguzi will fail and be forgotten, but it does too well with the younger group. Which is just what CN wants. Their attempt to kick out the older crowd and bring in the younger crowd on weekday afternoons is definitely working:shrug:

CN still wants the older crowd in Adult Swim and Toonami on Saturdays (which continues to acquire and telecast anime....now always in premiere instead of run to death), but you're correct that Miguzi (as is the case with all of the 6A to 11P Sun-Fri lineups on CN) is targeting 6-11s.......until adults start buying toys, cereal and pop in bulk, that's going to remain the case.....and Miguzi is doing phenomenally well at bringing in that audience (interestingly, the only show that is singled out in this discussion....TMNT...is the only show not to show significant increases with the target demo).

Hyper, I wouldn't be surprised if Toonami got the 10-11PM hour and aired Dragonball and one of the 6-11 shows instead. It might not make much sense to us but since we're already used to CN targeting 6-11 in that timeslot there's a chance they would just bump up weekday Duel Masters to a better timeslot. We have no guarantee they would end up airing YYH or Kenshin or a mature show like that. Whereas with Adult Swim, we also have the guarantee that a TV-PG, and teenage+ oriented show, would air in that timeslot, which should cut into their kid image some more, which is always a good thing.

okay update I added Dragons Fire & Ice to the specials list and noted Energon getting a hasty exit
Not much happened.
Energon got pwned again... Obi cries about it every night.
There is potential for the block but overall I ask myself... Why does this even exist?
1) not much other then the block being announced and established? :p
2) :(
3) its better then General CN filling the spots?
What I DO like about Miguzi, though, are the bumpers. Sure, they're corny, but for some odd reason they're appealing.
yeah they are fun and lively :)

BTW, Rabi, that is an incredibly in-depth list that you have there, and it helped me remember some highlights of this year. I really must say, good job.
1) people forget that Toonami did what is most popular a few times and its incorrect to be hard on Miguzi for doing the same because its new and hasn't had time to take chances like Toonami eventually did. what was Toonami's year one lineup anyway?
2) oh thanks its not anything special or nothing anyone could have done it to
Come back when they start announcing some other EXCLUSIVE good shows.
other? :p :(
Static shock is alright but CN should only air it once a day. Either during Miguzi or at night, but not both.
The CG is pretty ugly, but a few of are kind of funny.
1) Static should stay at night I like his 10:30 pm slot he lights up my night :)
2) no no no the character designs might be ugly but the cg is nice and solid looking
Don't forget Energon being taken off after 2 weeks. I'll probably never get to see the end of the series...
ok thats fixed! and dont worry CN will probably like marathon the last 4 - 6 episodes some saturday on the block party or in some other special event
When they come in autumn, they will have to air somewhere. Of course, Miguzi's the first choice.
The fans are sad.
Zeta, Xiaolin, all worthy shows.
1) one would hope Miguzi would be first choice for Lyoko season 2!
2) I am trying my best to not be sad about the current state of Miguzi!
3) Zeta good choice I would say it would at least be semi-girl friendly like TT :)
Miguzi is going to be great. So good year, look forward to the next. Well until the next "Time" anyways!
yeah we got to be positive and have hope!
I don't care what anyone says, Toonami in it's previous stage stil owns all over this block for now.
Don't know why they were labled "Specials" cause it's not like they were exclusive or anything, just Toonami hand-me-downs.
1) DB Chronicles?
2) anything other then the same old 4 shows is pretty special for Miguzi  also I had forgot one: Dragons Fire & Ice which wasnt a Toonami hand me down and was watchable (I stumbled across it by chance)
until adults start buying toys, cereal and pop in bulk, that's going to remain the case.....
cereal! I want Lyoko cereal shaped with the Xana symbol
1) people forget that Toonami did what is most popular a few times and its incorrect to be hard on Miguzi for doing the same because its new and hasn't had time to take chances like Toonami eventually did. what was Toonami's year one lineup anyway?

4.5PM - Cartoon Roulette (Space Ghost, Birdman, Herculoids, etc.)

5.5PM - The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest
Robotech replaced Voltron about 6 months in.

So Miguzi's been on about eight months, give or take a week. My views:
1) The hosting cast: Erin and the monsters. They're cute, but they can get annoying at times. Still, from a child's perspective, you can't help but laugh at the predicaments the crew gets into as Erin teaches them the ways of her world. (BTW, they did a T'giving bump, wonder if they'll do a X-mas one.)
2) The already-on CN shows: Totally Spies and Teen Titans both serve as fine staples, though thanks to excessive programming we're at the point where even the diehard fans are ready to turn their backs on their faves. TT got new episodes on Toonami; TS premieres paired up with Atomic Betty on Sundays. As for Transformers: Energon... well, enough said.
3) Coming from the FoxBox: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. For fans who were unable to watch due to Pokémon being on at the same time, this was a chance to check out the new, darker Turtles. And man, do they kick butt! Suffice to say, TMNT and FoxBox now benefit from their Miguzi flirt.
4) Coming from Kids' WB: Static Shock. The token African-American show that dealt with hard issues floundered for two seasons. But it was given a second chance, and a new theme song thanks to Bow Wow, and the second two seasons found a big audience (in part thanks to scheduling between Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh at times). Although the series is now cancelled, it's found a good home on CN and on Miguzi.
5) The acquistion from Europe: Code: Lyoko. Nobody here knew about this series. It was the newcomer of Miguzi's lineup. And it made a stand. There are fans of all ages watching, and there are enough that a second season and an origin story are in production. CN took a gamble bringing over Lyoko, and it looks like it paid off.
6) For 2005: We know Lyoko S2 is coming, and TMNT, TT, and TS will all be hoarding recent repeats. But the big question is... how long will it take for Miguzi to get a breakout show? For Kids' WB it was Pokémon. For Toonami it was DBZ. What will it be for Miguzi, and when will that show make its appearance? [Considering the track record, I'd say 2007.]

well, I don't know. Personally to me, this year of CN has been a year of let downs, and of course the biggest disappointment was miguzi. In the beginning, there was nothing appealing to me. miguzi was entirely built on rehash (75% of the shows aired, we've seen em before) and then came code lyoko-I guess it can be considered a hidden gem, but even then, it has been run to death. Cartoon network could've capitolized on the miguzi market by making some good aquisitions-I think prince of tennis would be a stellar aquisition, and several other series. I would've been impressed to see a reairing of dot hack sign and dot hack dusk on miguzi (more dot hack dusk because I feel the show is somewhat perfect for miguzi) to include the drastic differences between dusk and its older brother sign. I mean, I guess this was the testing phase for Miguzi, and I guess it did average (below in my opinion) but let's just hope that something better comes for miguzi. I liked static on there, and energon, but that isn't the only thing to save a run. Give us something new CN
if I were to rate the first year (7 months) of miguzi, I would give it a 4.5 out of 10. a lot could've been done better
CookieS

The weakest part of Miguzi is that nothing is exclusive. With the Adult Swim and Toonami franchises, we see shows that are only caught at certain times. If they brought in some shows that were not "borrowed" from other networks or could be seen at other times of the day, the Miguzi block could be more of a focus for people. Series such as "Code Lyoko" worked extremely well in regards to exclusivity.
The good is that CN opened up their afternoons to a gender neautral-zone, and thus, sticking it to Nick and Disney. While I don't think it has a cult following such as Toonami, the idea of a comedic-adventure block lets the average comedy cartoon fan in on the best of both worlds.
I do think the block was successful and will get better with time. I needs some tweaking as far as programming. The packaging is unique and fun, and the vinyettes are funny with a decent replay value. Overall I give Miguzi a "B" for the year 2004, with a feeling of hope that it will be even better next year.

.hack//SIGN wouldn't air because it's well... boring. Wouldn't fit Miguzi at all.
.hack//DUSK... you're joking right? Sure it looks like it fits the block but CN wouldn't ever have the guts to do that.
I doubt any non-heavily westernized animes will air on Miguzi. But PoT is a possiblity once it is licensed (probably by FUNimation).

I would've said the same thing about transformers energon as well hyper, and lo and behold, it was there...
though I would've (personally) wanted dusk or xaolin showdown on miguzi, but again cookies brings up an excellent point. When toonami first began (pre TOM) US at least had new eps of DBZ on toonami, and quite a few other shows. Then in 2000, we got gundam, reboot, sailor moon, and a whole bunch of other shows (tenchi for one thing). Reairing btas and stas was actually genious. There is a huge reason why toonami seated fox kids back in the old days. I think for one, miguzi needs more originality actually. and I guess the whole idea of a non gender specific block can actually work quite well, because it means that CN can get "boys and girl" shows

Energon was a suprise. But it was heavily westernized anime and it didn't have mild incest like .hack//DUSK... nor any of the other innappropriate things in it. I see plenty of potential for One Piece and Sonic X reruns on the Miguzi and probably Tokyo Mew Mew as well. Beet the Vandel Buster could be good, but that's inevitably gonna be on the Fox Box (but I'm fine with that, for once 4kids could pick up a Shonen Jump series that could work well on the Fox Box).
Minor critism to your post... New DBZ didn't come quite some time. We got Sailor Moon before DBZ and we got Sailor Moon US premieres before we got DBZ US premieres. It's good to keep the facts straight.
Miguzi has a lot of potential. Much more than KWB afternoons ever had. But we'll see how it plays out. The one undeniable fact with Miguzi is that it's quite successful where CN wants it to be. That means it ain't going anywhere any time soon.

A nice little collection of my least favorite shows. That's Miguzi! The votes on this board aren't making it look too appetising either.

A very good question. LYOKO, could've been it (though I've never given it a care). Sensai says TT and TS will be it. Transformers may be if it gets another chance. DICE, the rumored new Herculoids, or a new DC series could be a break. Hmm...

We should pay kids not to watch Miguzi.
(mocking voice) Toonami at 10-11pm on weekdays...
Oh, if I could tolerate that. I know that that has a nil chance of happening.

As far as entertaining me goes, Miguze basically fails aside from TMNT.
