Planet of the Hunks - #60

A rich and powerful princess (that's "princess" in the "spoiled-brat" way, not in the "royal" way) is abducting hunky men from around the world to keep in her "human zoo" for her own amusement. The spies are sent to investigate and find that after the princess grows tired of the men she's abducted, she puts them in a "thunder dome" type arena where they must fight for their own survival against her personal robot gladiators. As the spies try to thwart her strange operation, they find themselves fighting for their lives against the princess' latest toy - Magnaglad, a super-sized robot gladiator! In a b-story, Alex and Sam find Clover's diary - and read it.

I thought this ep was pretty good... that's all I have to say.

I loved how the girls looked in their armor. They looked pretty yet wore armor that was really armor and not filth eye candy armor. Also liked how they were fighting back and forth about the diary. I wish there was a manga that would explore more of their lives and not quite as much mission wise.

Not too bad of an ep.:) The action scenes were great and the girls looked terrific in their armor suits.:D As for the diary parts, they shouldn't have looked in it to begin with. However, I guess if they didn't, this wouldn't be much of an ep.:p I did like Sam's off-key shower-singing that we heard at the end, though. Poor Clover.:p :anime: I give this 3 stars.:)

- Since there's a discussion of this elsewhere... I still say the new VA for Alex is spotty. Some episodes she's good, others she's horrible. Jerry, on the other hand... it's like the old VA never left. He sounds the same to me.
- Onto the episode itself... ah, nothing more sacred than a girl's diary. But you know, if you write it down... it's bound to be read. Though I think the argumentive episode-long tiff was a bit much, especially the ending.
- The girl who has everything still wants more. Typical spoiled princess brat.

Um... that's all I have to say. "Planet of the Hunks" scores a 2.9 out of 4.

An alright ep. Loved the girls' gladiator armor(so the little costume changer thing can make weapons too?). The B.R.U.T.E suit is the coolest gadget yet. We needed to see more of what it could do, though. I kinda liked the B-plot.

And is it just me, or was the spoiled-brat's kidnapping of those guys a service to mankind? I was rooting for the robo-gladiators when they were going after the model. Little pansy. 6/10

1. It's obvious the hunks' names are parodies of real-life celebrities, like Massachusetts Senator JFL Jr. (JFK Jr of Massachusetts) and Tony Eagle (skateboarder Tony Hawk). :)

2. And it's obvious that the rich Proasis Island billionaire is taken from the rich Greek billionaire Onassis family who do own an island off the Mediterranean. Dunno if the real 20-yr old heiress is bratty though. ;)

3. Lastly, it's obvious that Clover's B.R.U.T.E. suit is modeled after the Bubblegum Crisis suits, from the hands down to the high heels: :D
