LOL. Watched the last episode, and it was pretty intense.

I never realized how bulky these Transformers look. It seems like they can hardly move because of their size.

Well, I ended up watching all but the final episode, because at 2:30 I had to leave for my grandmother's house, but I taped it so I guess I'll watch it now. :p

Yes, the bulky 3D models are pretty weak. I don't enjoy the animation when I can easily tell the 3D and 2D segments from each other. Yuck.

You want the 3D to look so much like 2D that you can't tell the difference?

I have been up since 6:30am [after going to bed at 4:30am ] and been straight up since then. The marathon was great seeing everything back to back after the morning run.

And those 2 new episodes? A W E S O M E ! ! ! I enjoyed every second of them! I have to give props out to Chalk, he was fantastic as Optimus! I love the emotion in his screaming, some of it even sounded like crying. And then when Primus' power finaly reached Optimus Supreme and he grew!  Clash of the gods! I was really happy with the voice acting. I like the very subtle difference Kaye put in as Unicron. :)

Two very good episodes. I was loving Optimus when he knocked out Ironhide. But, ugh, he had to get all friendly again when the disobeyed his orders. My only complaint was Unicron's handling in the series. He's a being and they treated him as a toy. I would have really like Unicron to have been able to be as cunning as he was in the Unicron battles in Armada by trapping everyone in fantasy relms and stuff. Poor Uni also seemed to not be a good fighter. As if he hadn't fought someone face to face, but considering his size.

Now I will look forward to finally seeing the gestaults whenever new epsidoes air.

I didn't get to see the marathon, because I was at my cousins all day, and they don't have cable TV, but I do have all these episodes recorded, so I will get to watch them at home this weekend. I agree that the last 2 episodes are intense. They set the entire series up for a dramatic conclusion with many new Autobots and Decepticons.

Of course not, but in some cases, its better to just not merge them. One example I can think of is "SD Gundam" which pulls off the 3D animation with a 2D look. As a matter of fact, I think they use cel shading in many of the scenes with the kids and the Transformers in the control room. Just seeing Optimus so out-of-sorts with his world made it hard to realize that Optimus and the other Transformers actually existed in the same universe.

Overall, the series did play nicely into the drama. The dialogue is kind of corny : "You'll never succeed!", but I won't put it down too much considering its a cartoon.

The Transformers all all cel-shaded all of the time, except for Optimus and Unicron because they wanted to show how the "giants" looked so...I can't think of the word for it, but godly/unbelievable to the normal TFs. Once Optimus and Omega Supreme return to their normal size, they go back to being cel-shaded.

I would have really like Unicron to have been able to be as cunning as he was in the Unicron battles in Armada by trapping everyone in fantasy relms and stuff.I believe that Unicron used Megatron's dreams of power and glory and Alpha-Q's dreams of his planet back. He used them making them think they control Unicron, but when their duty is done, Unicron don't need them. Besides, it was Unicron who revived Alpha-Q.

 Optimus and Omega went planet size and beat the crap out of Unicron.

I had a feeling the repaints will come.

I didn't realise that there had been some Energon premiers in the 6am slot earlier in November, so all of these episodes except the clip show that aired first were new to me. But I must say, an Energon marathon is much easier to watch when I've taped it and can take breaks inbetween the episodes.

Much like the Autobot Matrix in the G1 movie, it's appropriate that only a Deus-ex-Machina can defeat Unicron. This time it's an energy blast from Cybertron super-sizing Optimus Supreme, which gave them a chance to have hand-to-hand Unicron combat. At least something finally happened with Unicron, throughout most of Energon they give us the impression that the goal is to bring him back to life but they tended just to use him as a plain old base of operations. And the Megs-possessed-by-Unicron's-spirit thing has promise, Armada/Energon Megs tends to be pretty boring.
