I've maxed out on all my available shelf space for DVDs. Today is indeed a dark day. And it kills me that DVD shelving is so freelin' expensive. Why can't they make those particle board units for DVDs that they make the cheap bookshelves out of?

My DVDs are actually spread out over two shelves. :p
But I have a feeling that fairly soon my shelves will be filled up, too. And you know what comes next. Piling DVDs on top of one another so the vertical DVDs are difficult to get off the shelf without moving the horizontal ones laying on top of them. Here's a sample:

Start investing in cardboard boxes. I suggest dumpster diving.

At the present, I have my TV on a wooden crate, and the DVD player and DVDs inside the crate. At the current rate, I won't have much room left very soon. But I don't have to worry about that, getting a real TV stand with lots of DVD storage room for Christmas. :)
But that doesn't help you much now does it? :p

And it kills me that DVD shelving is so freelin' expensive. You can get a standup DVD rack or a shelf that you can attach to your wall for less than $20. Buy that instead of your next DVD.

You may want to think about Thinpaking your collection.
Anime On DVD has an article about doing it at http://www.animeondvd.com/specials/articles/cb023.php and also http://www.animeondvd.com/news/article.php?article_view=184

I like the idea of thincasing, but not if it means cutting up DVD covers. I'm not THAT desperate.

My DVDs only take up half a shelf (my DVD collection is still growing :o just started getting them recently. :) )
That'll soon change though. :)

Man, I hate running out of room.
I've got two five-shelf cases next to each other (Might be 25 discs wide) that cover games and individual DVDs, box sets thrown in a bookcase and on top of the TV shelf...

Why can't they make those particle board units for DVDs that they make the cheap bookshelves out of?They do, but if you notice, "cheap particle board" bookshelves aren't really that cheap either
I got mine from an O'Sullivan's outlet store, I guess the model I got was on clearence because it was out of production, since I can't seem to find it on their site:
http://www.ifurn.com/Multimedia+Storage.html
what I have is basically like the $30 shelf, only about 3 times as wide:
http://www.ifurn.com/osullivan_40092.html
it was $70, but I got him to go down to $60 if I bought two of them.
Personally, with some series (such as Pokémon or Gundam) I like to buy 2-disc Amaray cases (with the 2nd disc hinged on the spine), make up a quick mock cover and use that, with the first two covers behind the made-up cover. It saves half the space, and when I finally get all of SEED and SEED Destiny, I can fit both in the same box. :)

I refuse to repackage stuff, outside of "take this one disc and manga out of the box, put the manga with the manga, disc with the disc, and hide the box somewhere".

Hey Galvatron,
I like those shelves you have in picture #0061 and #0062. Where can I get shelves like that? I couldn't find them at my local Home Depot. And how would you rate them on sturdiness?

I got em all at Home Depot ^_^;; They're just racks and brackets with a piece of shelf sitting on top.. all the shelves in my room are this type with just various sizes of wood (mostly 4', but the ones by the Trigun scroll are 2')
As long as you hang them properly they'll be fine, just make sure to put them into a Stud...

Yeah, as long as you make sure to find a stud to put the screw into, those shelves really are the best. Also as long as you don't mind putting screws into your wall...
That's a pretty impressive anime collection, but I just have to ask, where did that Lupin statue come from with them playing pool!? That is awesome!

It just came out about two months ago in a UFO Catcher machine in Japan, they're actually Four seperate figures... I managed to get it off ebay for a rather nice price, but I think HLJ.com still has some left..

I see one on ebay, but only one :( I guess I'll try to pick it up if it doesn't go for too much... (with the DeepDiscount sale going on this week I'm not gonna have alot of extra cash lying around)

I have a DVD shelf that also shares PS 1 and 2 games. I've divided the DVD shelves into sections (by genre), and the cartoon one is close to filled up.
