I'm glad you guys put this up. I had completely forgotten about this release and wouldn't have had it on my Christmas list.
And thanks to the review I will definitely get it for myself if I don't get it as a gift.

The bad news is that it's sold on in two of the stores I've gone to here in NYC. The good news is that it's sold on in two of the stores I've gone to to here in NYC.

Was reading over on IGN how no one was able to find it--either lack of ordering or it's just selling, dunno which. It wasn't advertised in any ads that it was coming out this week, so that's never a good sign.
Why they delayed it to coincide with The Incredibles, but no where on it put (prominently) that Brad Bird directed it, makes no sense. On top of that, it hits a week after Incredibles and isn't promoted at all. I literally am confused as to why they even did that...
Also reports that it's shipping in snapper cases too (another thing I read on IGN), as well as Amaray's. Looks like some of them were held over from the re-packaging...

Dunno yet. We ended up ordering it online and that's out of stock too. Won't have mine for a bit.

You'd think after screwing the film's theatrical campaign and losing all the animators their jobs the marketing department would feel they had picked on this film enough.
Apparantly not.

I had to go to 3 diffrent Targets before I found mine, and each only got like 5, so I think WB didnt think demand would be high, and didnt make any more from when they where going to release it earlier. And this from the same people who know how to handle animation, HB sets anyone.
Bred Bird needs all the exposure he can get.
Extras are light, but damn is that picture cisp and clear, no edge enhancement seen anywhere, lion king rivaling transfer!

Got a copy of it on Tuesday, but haven't watched it yet, other than browsing the menu a bit. I'm gonna give my old copy to my brother. :)

Got this last week and watched it, but I forgot about this thread untill Batmanuel bumped it.
I basically got this dvd, having never seen Iron Giant (I know, how could I have missed it when Cartoon Network played it for like 24 hours straight) because I loved (loved) Incredibles, and this is Brad Bird too.
I was not disappointed. Great movie, awesome transfer and sound, some really good bonus features. (I watched them all right after the movie, which I don't usuallly do.) Really glad I got this one. For a one disk, it was packed like a 2 disk, probablly since the movie was only 82 mins or whatever, they could ram it all onto one disk and pass the savings on to you. Thanks Wal-Mart! :zim:
I got it for Christmas, and I'm glad I did. It's a great movie. For years I've lived off the VHS version. The DVD's quality is 1000 x's better. Not to mention, this is the first time I've seen the whole film in widescreen.
The extras were pretty good, perhaps a little sparse for what I'd expect from a Special Edition. Then again, this isn't Disney. And I found it odd that there wasn't an insert. It's not important to me, it just looks weird.

There wasnt an insert in mine either. Is this true across the board?
Brian
I'm not sure but I don't think the DVDs are supposed come with an insert. I was just commenting on how bare it looks.
