A 'Josie and the Pussycat' question..

Hi there, I was watching an ep of 'Hosie and the Pussycats' I got on tape..and something always bothered me about the charatcer Melody..she was such a brainless ditz (again, unfair stereotype) so..why the heck was SHE playing the drums?! I mean, drums are very hard instruments to play! Melody can give Crissy Snow a run for her money soemtimes, and she's playing the drums?! Why not have Valerie, the smartest one, play the drums and Melody play the tambouines? I mean, sure tambourines can be hard to play too, but not as hard as drums!
How can someone as dizy as Melody be playing something as complicated as the drums?
Anyone else a bit puzzled by this?
