I'm still waiting for Kindergarten Cop: Special Edition to come out. Why?
1) The only release currently available is a bare bones edition... in FULL SCREEN no less.
2) You'd think that with Total Recall, Running Man, Terminator 1-3, Predator, Red Heat, Conan the Barbarian, and The 6th Day all receiving more than bare bones editions (some more than others), that more Arnold films would be re-released.

So what's holding this? It can't possibly be because of terrorist references, which is what held up True Lies S.E. The company that sells the DVD, Universal Studios, is fairly good at releasing Special Editions- look at the Jurassic Park Trilogy. And the film did modestly well at the box office and isn't a very obscure Arnold film or anything. So why the hold up? And for that matter, where's Last Action Hero S.E.?

Oh what's the matter? You people too good for this topic? ;) Surely I'm not the ONLY one here who would like to see Kindergarten Cop get a better release.

I would actually like a Kindergarten Cop SE, as well as all of Arnold's movies. He's my hero.

1) this is why I haven't bothered to pick up this movie yet, even though I think it's probly his best comedy attempt. (Who is your daddy, and what does he do?)
2)As much as I personally would like to see a decent version of Kindergarten Cop, (original aspect ratio is always welcome) take a look at the movies you listed. Terminator, Predator, Conan... slightly different genre, one with more interest in it. You're always gonna see more/bigger/better releases of the more popular movies, they would be stupid not to make the more popular movies more appealing.

I'm ok with that, but what really annoys me is when this rational is used to explain a crappy release, then the poor sales of the crappy release are used to justify the low quality of the release in the first place. And the cycle continues...
Don't ask questions you don't want to know the answer to. :DHey, the way you guys poo-poo'd my enthusiasm about the Jingle All the Way re-release, you should have know there would be at least one more person who would agree with Speedy...

Hey, the way you guys poo-poo'd my enthusiasm about the Jingle All the Way re-release, you should have know there would be at least one more person who would agree with Speedy... "Jingle All the Way" is Arnold's best comedy ever. :D That didn't do too badly at the box office, either. Not record-smashing, but pretty good nonetheless.

I just had a thought: Maybe the child abduction stuff that has been going on recently is what's holding it up. Not like re-releasing it would be disrespectful to victims or anything (far from it!), but you know how studios rationalize things...

I'd just be happy with a WS release of "Kindergarten Cop" - an SE would be nice, but I kinda doubt it will happen. I love that movie too. Same goes for "Last Action Hero" -- and it's an FS-only DVD too, dangit. In spite of all the negative reviews it got, I still like it because it spoofs Ah-nold's action flicks.

As much as I like those movies, I refuse to buy them until they're released in WS.

I'd buy a KINDERGARTEN COP SE. One of my favorite Arnold movies, and I need more movies with Penelope Ann Miller. :D

About the LAST ACTION HERO DVD, is the panning-and-scan on it as bad as it appears to be on TV? Whenever I see that movie on DVD and it gets to a pan moment, it looks like the film quality suddenly takes on a video quality, and it looks really really terrible. I'd hate if the DVD was as bad.

Same goes for "Last Action Hero" -- and it's an FS-only DVD too, dangit. Believe it or not, there IS a widescreen version of Last Action Hero. Only catch is, it was released WAAAAAY back in 1997 when DVDs were first entering the marketplace. It even has the jewel case cover size and not the standard DVD size. But of course, no stores sell this or have sold this in years, so yup, we're stuck with the FS version.

"IT'S NOT A TUMAH!"

...Sorry; I have no information at all on a Kindergarten Cop SE. I just really got a kick out of that line in Arnold's thick accent. :D

you'd be surprised to know that in Japan, there is a Superbit edition of "Last Action Hero".
