I just got my cell phone number transferred over to a new phone and service (Metro PCS, what can I say, I'm a sucker for unlimited talking....) HOWEVER, It's been known to have weak signal's in places. And, wouldn't you know it, one of those place is IN MY HOUSE.
The whole reason I transferred over was so that I could talk with my friends in other cities/states, and not have to pay unholy overage charges. I do most of my talkin late at night in the privacy of my bedroom (previously our garage) I don't want to go back to the constricting provider I once had, but this whole not working in my room thing is really frusterating.
Does anyone know if those famed Signal Boosters really work? Or if theres a specific kind that works better than others (for a Nokia phone). I want this to work, I really do. I don't want to go from b**chin bout one phone to another. I just want to be satisfied. :crying:

The cell phone signal booster didn't work for me. Maybe it was my location, or my phone, I don't know. I've traveled a lot during the past 6 months and in two locations I've stayed at (one being my current location), signal strength isn't that great so I get cut off a lot.
Sometimes you just have to suck it up or get a new service or phone.
It may also be easier for your friends to call your landline if your signal is that bad. Work up an agreement with them; after I get cut off for the 3rd time, the other person calls my landline since I don't have long distance on my landline.
You'll never be completely satisfied with whatever wireless service (or phone) you have.
Dittio on that, the things tend to work for about ten minutes or so then just...become useless. Just a gimmack...of course if you have the money you can keep buying the things over and over again...but that is costly, lol.

Most (all) of the "as seen on tv" type signal boosters are nothing but garbage. Trust me, I know - I make antennas for a living. Those ones that are a sheet with some metal pattern printed on them that you just stick to the back of the phone? Complete bunk. They don't work (or give almost negligible performance boosts), so don't bother. However, there are valid signal boosters on the market: external antennas with 3 watt power boosters that need to be plugged into the phone itself, but this then limits your mobility.

Heh, thanks.
Limited mobility is not a problem, I'm used to talking on a phone while it's plugged, sitting on my bed. Which is why I have this problem. Thanks for the insider advice Clayface :D
